I believe the main reason is it came out to late, if it came out before WoW than I believe it would of been a bigger success, atleast for me everyone is copying WoW and it always feels the same I have tried to many mmos and all of them have bored me after about a week because they copy WoW. I don't even know if im going to enjoy SWTOR but I plan on giving it a shot because I love Bioware games but most WoW clones Im staying away from because I know they will bore me.

There hasn't been many game shows and what not to publicize APB, and since the game is still in beta there really isn't much to talk about.

From what you have listed the game sounds like something you will like, the PvE is lacking but over all it sounds like you want to play PvP more than PvE. To say its an MMORPG is a straight out lie, the story ends at the end of the tutorial. The PvP can be fun but depending on how much you play you can hit cap in a week, and when I say cap that doesn't mean lvl it means when you get new skill points for your talents and new weapons/items. Armor doesn't do anything for you except change how you look.

The least played class would prolly be medic, Recons, Robos are the most played, and assault and medics are a toss up but I tend to see more assaults than medics. I will tell you this straight out if you expect more than a CS like game with a glorified hub your expecting to much. There is no world atm just a city and instances for PvE and PvP. Also there are some balance issues in the game, oh and if you pug a lot don't expect compitent players. The balance system in the game sucks. They say the balancing system is ment to keep you at 50% win ratio which im fine with but the games themselves tend to be one sided, either you lose or win and very occasionally you get an actual balanced game where your back in forth but most of the time its decided before the game begins.

Me personally have ceased playing and am now playing Bad Company 2.

I don't understand this obsession of drugs and prostitution are. If its not in the game you really think its going to impact the gameplay that much, oh no I can't shoot up and beat my hookers. I'm ok with sacrificing these things if the game is as good as it seems its going to be, the customization of the game is incredible as a graphic designer I can't wait to get my hands on it and see what its capable of. Regardless we wont know what type of limitations the game will have till the game is actually out.

Even when it comes out, it wont be in stores.

Darkfall in Stores  looks good to me

and if you're comparing which box is better thats sad... "HEY MO MAY BE A BAD GAME BUT AT LEAST THE BOX IS METAL"

I had to acknowledge this post as it was one of the better burns I've seen on these forums lol.

Sickan tried to imply DFO didn't have a boxed version and unlike MO it's actually on store shelve's lol. That was just classic lol.

No my friend I know they are in stores. I tried to imply that they are made of plastic/paper - in comparison to the metal box we were discussing. If you read the thread, we/I were comparing boxes, not whether they were in stores or not. Please read before post!

I don't exactly understand how this is really insulting that darkfall has their game in stores and MO doesnt, its just not possible for MO to be in store, ESRB wouldn't allow it more than likely.

Actually that box look really cool (made by brutal metal).

I think they wanted to much with the box and make something no one else ever have made. That box can't be cheap to produce. They could have done as all other game companies, making a cheap plastic box. Having a manual would have been nice but, seriously I never read them.

Are you fucking serious? LOL

Games have metal cases all the fucking time AND they come with manuals and other shit AND they're cheaper than the price of that piece of shit MO box costs you.

Take the rose colored glasses off and wake up to reality. You're happy and content with what you get for the price, more power to you. But don't try to sit here like the devs of MO sent a box made of gold with encrusted jewels when they sent something of less quality for more money than any other company out there.

Take the shit stained colored glasses off, mass producing a metal box is totally different than producing 10k boxes. Go try and order a single metal box like that and tell us how much it costs. People really amaze me, theres going to be a big different in price when comparing 200k boxes to 10k and to be honest more than likely the number is going to be larger than 200k.

Did it not even come with a key code if not how can you play it anyhow.

Well I got the key when I pre-ordered (I think). So hopefully that key will be valid for launch.

Btw. 5 GB download after you install from the dvd so I guess whatever client is on there is very old or they got a weird patching system.

.....I'm sorry but your actually complaining about this when you were one of the people that complained you didn't get your box in september, what the hell did you think you were going to get. They went into the future and got the final version than came back in put it in the box, of course its going to be unfinished. People freaking amaze me I mean seriously wtf.

Just found a post on the MO forums that he had recieved his MO LE Box, so indeed they have been shipped.

Oh... oh...

You purchase, very chea- I mean pricey, but no-, but worth money, purchase now!

But really, you decide man, it's your money. I never spent mine on it, if it helps.

You make less sense than your avatar.

So, I am nearly sold on pre-ordering this game however I am nearing my monthly video game budget and am thus looking for some final validation before pressing this 'purchase' button.  The feedback I have been reading is mixed, so if possible I would like to hear some suggestions/warnings.

I am coming from Darkfall and Eve and have a passion for sandbox MMOs however I am not sure I want to partake in a bug-laden release.  So my question is, based off your experiences in beta do you feel Mortal Online is in for a rocky start?  I am not interested in starting another fanboy vs. hater flame post, rather just looking for an unbiased opinion.

Thanks

I have to agree with the majority of opinions, wait and see after release. The game should be in a good position in half a year or so. If you have the money to support SV and don't mind pre-ordering early I say go for it, SV is in need of the money.

This is bologna. Seriously, how many freakin' "WoW" clones do you think we need? Why are you so against a game that would be a breath of fresh air in the stagnant "no risk, all reward" super easy WoW mmo culture? We NEED a game like Mortal Online - or another game like it to succeed. It would be good for this mmo market to actually have something a little different. Something to give all the die hard mmo fans that miss games like pre-Tram UO and Asheron's Call so much. But instead, we have all these WoW fans crying and QQ'ing and trolling the forums of any game that might require a little skill or something besides spamming the same 2 hotkeys over and over.

You people that bash this game non-stop should cheer this game on or perhaps try and give good constructive feedback to Star Vault rather then constantly trashing a game like this with all of your time.

I understand why we have 1,000 WoW clones and why all the big companies don't want to take any risk, but rather go for the gold pot that Blizzard holds. But what some of these big companies are failing to understand is that if they would just try and make a good solid mmo much like what Star Vault is trying to make.. well then they would likely clearly OWN a smaller, but still very profitable portion of the mmo market that has been left deserted for YEARS. There is money to be made in this niche market, but every big company instead is battling it out with 1,000 other mmo's for the market WoW clearly owns.

I for one highly respect Star Vault for trying to corner the hungry hardcore PvP market that Ultima Online once delighted mmo fans with. The thrill of losing everything and the rewards of such a hardcore game has been missing from mmos for many, many years. I respect SV very much for at least attempting to bring it back and essentially come out with their own version of "Ultima Online 2".

You "hotbar-mashing, no-risk-at-all" fans can have your World of Warcraft 2 and Guild Wars 2 with prettier graphics and much more smooth and better oiled mmo games. I'm perfectly happy with a much buggier, much less streamlined mmo like Mortal Online. I will support them the best that I can. (as I think I have with countless hours already frapping and uploading videos and capturing live footage etc for the few fans MO might have)

I've learned that trolling a game you wish you could like just because it isn't the quality of WoW isn't the answer with Darkfall. Games like this need "supporters" not nay-sayers. If you guys really want a game like Mortal Online or Darkfall to be successful, constantly knocking it and the developers hard efforts is not the answer. It's EASY to find problems and bugs in a game like Mortal Online. But I'm telling you from experience that it truly is much more rewarding to support a game like this and actually see through the bugs at what exactly these guys are trying to pull off. And Mortal Online is actually brilliant at many levels. Perhaps if you'd stop mocking it, tearing it down, and trolling it, you might see a silver lining and/or have some fun with it. As I have definitely done in my couple of weeks with it already. I have honestly had more fun with this buggy beta then I have in my last six years or so with much prettier, much better coded games like WoW, GW, LoTRO, and soo many others.

Hmm... you used WoW or World of Warcraft at least 8 times in your reply.  This was page 4 and no one had even mentioned that game.  Why would you post such a long reply about WoW and make fun of it's fans?  That has nothing to do with the conversation and is in poor taste.

Hes replying to the statement made earlier about why smaller companies are the only companies that will make a sandbox game, its simple WoW is the cash cow so now all developers are trying to take their chunk of the market by copying it. LoTRO, AoC, WaR, Allods Online, even EQ2 has been turning more into a WoW clone, making everything easy and watered down compared to EQ, theres a lot more games out there that continue to take the game structure of WoW and build their own game around it.

I am betting, they don't do a open beta stress test, and when hundreds, if not thousands log into MO, it's going to be a laggy crash ridden launch. They already have bad lag issues when more then 50 people are in 1 spot.

On a side note, I was pretty suprised to find this trash posted on thier homepage. I mean what kind of gaming company worth thier salt would post dribble such as this?

I don't understand why is it a bad thing that people from a gaming development team aren't tight asses. So what they screw around and have fun when they take 10 minutes to write in their blog oh noes.....

This just makes me think of all the posts saying nudity is bad, I mean comon unclench those ass cheeks of yours.

At least somebody understands what a sandbox environment is. The problem with MO is that the 'tools' to build the game world around you are lacking severely, and the only thing to really do is use a mediocre crafting system to create 2 handed swords (the only weapon worth using because there's no weapon balance) and then go fight each other in a very basic and one dimensional PvP system. No guildwars, no guild communications, etc etc... and you can't even identify who is in your guild unless you dress alike.

The "sandbox" of MO exists on paper, not in the game. I had hoped they would revamp it to be at least a good combat game, so the rest would come in time because combat was great (ala EVE), but sadly they went for the fluff and it's the worst of all worlds instead of the best of one.

For you...

The only thing to do FOR YOU...  not everyone is focused on one-on-one melee combat. Of coarse Mortal Online would be one dimensional and boring if all you could imagine doing is circle strafing and melee comnbat..!

Nothing you say is fact, but opinion. I said this before... I think you are afraid of the openess of this game and need to be told constantly that there is "other" things to do in the game. But all you can ONLY focus on is melee combat! If that is the case, then just go play an ARCADE game.

Secondly, build a village in the mountains and protect it all all costs..  thats something to do isn't it? Thats what Darkfall was..  and probably what you want. My friend has claimed he will buy and sell for several months, corner the market wherever he can and make a small fortune knowing the "markets". All-the-while crafting in major cities. He plans on making his vast fortune, to be the first ship builder and Master ship-smith.

He also plans on offering charters to the new world (New Continent when it becomes available)... THEN he plans on making his Character a fighter..  after his business is self sustainable.

That^^..  is just one example of a sandbox. All you utterly care about is the one dimensional aspect of combat.... Melee.

Lastly, almost everything you've complained about has some truth to it, but then again, you add a dose of conspiracy to the mix. Always implying that StarVault incompetent (14 people.. uno?) and the problems they face are insurmountable or under some incredible and dire timeline..

Dude, it's beta... StarVault has already told you BEFORE buying, how rough around the edges this development cycles is going to be. If you don't have the backbone to wait a few momths while they iron out the remedial bugs, then just be man enough and admit you simple are an overly-impatient person..!

You seem to want all these fixes NOW, without understanding why there are proceedures for eradicating and polishing..! It's incredible really.. how bereft you are of basic developmental proceedures.

Yes.. sh1t is broke in Mortal Online...  nobody is denying it. But sh1t has been broken all beta long...  it was the same for Meridian59, Ultima Online, Everquest, Ashron's Call, Dark Age of Camelot, StarWars Galaxies, etc...

What is your point? You state the most obvious bugs, as if it some insighful wisdom...   but unfortuneatly, all it really is...   Hercules = MO Troll

I agree with your post entirely, but that is how the world works, negative always stands above the positive when being viewed by a spectator.

Like my job, I work my ass off for them and go out of my way to help them, yet I make a simple mistake and it turns into a big fiasco.

Man, there's no need to be defensive. As I said in various other threads, it's your money to do with as you wish. I never judge anyone on what they want to do with their own cash.

All I said was that it just seems wrong to me that no matter how it's packaged, the customer seems to be paying the Supplier to test the Supplier's product. In my mind, it's like as though I just walked into Ford's factory and asked to pay them to test their newly designed car. To me it doesn't matter if Ford told me that I could get a 10% discount off the car or something like that when it rolls off the factory line if I did that. Just doesn't seem right to me.

See, your just not seeing the point. We bought the game, I don't even play in the beta because If I do im afraid ill burn myself out like I have done with countless other games. Your example is totally off base, its more like you ordered the car before it was released and Ford gave you the chance to drive it around the town. Not your example.

I'm not even going to read the 14 pages of this topic, I mean comon, on their purchase page they specifically said no refunds. You had to agree to that before you could even buy the product, if you didn't read what you were getting into its your own damn fault.

"So you're saying it will be the same state as every other game at release in the last 3 years?"

No, he's saying its going to have a release similar to Horizons, Asherons Call 2, Dark n Light etc etc

in other words, Mortal Online is vaporware because it is currently far beyond help and SV doesn't even have 1/10th the funds, talent or time to make the potential of this game come to life

the only good parts about MO are what has been written and drawn on paper...the game itself is a complete embarrassment to everything that MO was suppose to be

but ya...vaporware...

How about instead of putting his words in his mouth you let him elaborate.

and I play Mortal Online Beta and I am not even touching  Darkfall(played 30 hours or so and I found too many flaws)

Why?

Because even in Beta MO is just so good game.

and best thing in their promises is,they have vision, cant care less if they cant provide everything, even in Beta.

That is the basic example of a fanboy.

If you are unwilling to tell SV their faults, then when the game winds up crashing and burning, you'll have nowhere to look but in the mirror. I feel bad that there are so many of your types that are essentially ruining the developer's thoughts to think that what they are doing is actually any good.

People like that make me sick.  I hate when people say that the basic PVP, css knife fights, is better than all other mmos out there.

Incompetent people that kill games are fanboys  Screw em

So thats what your basing your image of MO on, just the PvP you seem to not understand what a Sandbox game is supossed to be, its a game where the player can choose what they want to do that means, Crafting, PvP, PvE, being a Merchant, building a city, etc. Not just PvP.
