Star Wars: The Old Republic: Gamescom Wrap-Up
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/26/10 2:30:19 PM
the classes are completely retarded. they should of just combined all the jedi/sith classes into just a Jedi and a Sith. then from there you could either work through the expansive quest system to unlock your potential as a Jedi Sentinel, Guardian, Counseler, or the Sith Lord, Maurader, whatever the hell. or they could have made it you are a jedi/sith and you can spec in a certain alt class system to gain powers of whatever strikes your fancy. in star wars the sith lords had the power of all these classes. Sidious was an amazing duelest and a beast with the darkside force powers. Vader could of learned force lightning but his dumbass had to get all mangled and robotic. the strict seperation of these powerful bits of star wars history is a slap in the face. bounty hunters are gonna rape the shit out of jedi |

DONT WORRY ITS A YEAR AWAY! or ITS JUST BETA! just face the facts man, bioware is hiding how the game really is boring and bland and their voice over epic quest system is the only thing they got. the rest is just rehashed mmo content from the last 12 years. everygame that flops hides how they really suck until launch. nothing is gonna change in a year. sorry man, bioware screwed the pooch |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Great Expectations
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/18/10 2:57:29 PM
You should of titled the article "Lowered Expectations" bioware is king of single player rpg's, yes we know! and........ THIS ISNT A FUCKING SINGLE PLAYER RPG! this is a mmorpg they are trying to create and all you blind bioware fanatics are just going around "i dont care about this or that, i just want a fun bioware game!" well good job, cause thats what were gonna get. a nice fun single player bioware rpg and you get the joy of paying for this fun single player game every month! oh and you can group with a few buddies too, if you have any. if your a wandering mmo vet like me all your oldschool mmo friends are all scattered out across the board. i was hyped up out the ass when BW announced SWTOR. and ive watched the downward spiral the entire time. from the interviews, videos, articles, every piece of media this game has released all ive seen is bland linear crap that ive been playing for the last 10 years. I remember one of the first interviews about swtor the dude answering the questions stated they wanted to blend the world of linear and sandbox together in creating SWTOR. where the fuck is the sandbox part?! sure as fuck aint in space, sure as fuck aint on systems. all ive seen is talk to guy, have long epic conversations, go kill mob, rinse repeat. a lot of us old time mmo'ers are explorers. we got into this genre because we were tired of console games putting us on a track from start to finish. we wanted the restrictions removed. UO and EQ1 took off the rails. You could wander anywhere anytime you wanted and do anything. Players drove the world, and now gaming companies have successfully been mashing linear console gameplay into what is suppsed to be a vast open ended virtual world. all you people and your sandbox is fuckin boring arguement can go take a flying leap. no, no it wasnt. what makes it boring for you is you are so dependent on the producing company to hold your hand and pat you on the head regularly going GOOD BOY! YOU DID A QUEST! HERES SOME CANDY! that when a game comes out that gives you total freedom of choice your like DUR..... and i was hoping with SWTOR that the sandbox elements they were supposedly implementing was gonna be the freedom of exploration. i mean its fuckin star wars for fucks sake. An entire universe to see and experience. And yeah, the space combat looks real fun, how can it not be? console games are real fun for a while, star fox. but... this is supposed to be a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE game. and sometimes in star wars people went into space for other reasons then to "blow shit up". bioware makes great single player games, they should of stayed where they belong. blizzard made great single player games too, but those games had a multiplayer element with them that taught them how to incorporate their style into the mmo world. im gonna buy the game myself when it launches because im bored with the whole mmo scene. all the games are the same with a different name. so ill settle with the fun bioware kotor sequel online because nothing I or any of you say will change the product were gonna get handed in 2011. |

DC Universe Online: Weekly #2: Iconic Play and the Lure of the IP
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/16/10 12:55:13 AM
SOE acquired Verant in June 2000 and eventually promoted Brad McQuaid to be its Chief Creative Officer.
Verant made eq1, soe picked it up from them when it became popular. Smedley and big bad Brad just shifted over into soe when it was bought out. and after a few years they ran it into the ground. soe does not make good games. vanguard was the bastard child of Mcquaid, which is sad because it could of been the most amazing thing EVER but he just fucked it all up. soe took it over to try to fix it, they realized they couldnt and left it to rot. eq2 was a failure because they removed some of the parts of eq1 that made it so good and concentrated solely on quests which is the new age grind. when it launched the few things i did enjoy about it were later removed to make the game easier. planetside was their creation it did ok. good for them. matrix another shit game they picked up and left for dead. eq online adventures for ps2 was pretty sick. free realms might do good but its targeted for younger kids and its semi f2p so of course its gonna do well. not to mention soe knows how to polish crap to make it look like gold. you ever played free realms? it sucks ass pirates of the burning sea, blew ass they havent created anything amazing. swg was pretty cool, but they allowed that to get all fucked up. everyone says soe did it and everyone else says lucas did it. who cares, soe allowed their game to get ass raped. its both their faults when it comes down to it. soe doesnt create good games. they take games with potential and either ruin them or let them die. and the FEW games they create do mediocre and then die. |

Originally posted by haibane soe did not create eq1 so they didnt make the game what it was or what made everyone love it, Verant did that. soe bought it from verant when it became uber popular and started churning out piece of shit expansions like water. SOE ruined eq1. soe created eq2 and it was a pos excuse of a sequel. and they still have been churning out expansions for both games like water trying to make it cool for the new crowd and fail. soe doesnt make good games, they take good games and let them rot or butcher them. vanguard was a mess at launch but had the makings of a the best game since eq1 but they bought it and just let it rot. swg was terrible save for a few features, and the nge just made it worse. soe is the first fail company in the mmo timeline. i will never ever buy SOE games again. anyone who does only has themselves to blame when they realize.. man this game fuckin sucks... |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Space Combat Cont'd: On Rails Edition!
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/13/10 12:08:41 PM
this makes me angry. i was one of the people trying to find info on the space combat and hoping they would add it into launch. i played JTL and other star wars games that had space combat/exploration, played EVE. i love space games, part of the cool/fun factor is the freedom to explore! yeah shooting shit is fun to but starfox was cool for only so long until it became boring and repetative. for a game that is as hyped and expensive as swtor i would of thought bioware, of all companies, would realize the importance of space. yeah kotor had no space shit except for turret cut battles and a few cgi cut scenes. but that was back then and this is now, and its a fucking MMO! for all you people saying at least they added something! or i dont care about the space part anyways! well great job.. now look at what we are all stuck with. this is STAR WARS, not future land battles with shiney swords. with 100 million dollars we should expect some awesome mind blowing shit, not this same crap reworked. i was one of the biggest fanboys of this game in the beginning because im a massive star wars fanatic. but with how this game is turning out to be i wont be buying this and i hope bioware crashes and burns for what they are trying to do. which is make you all think this is an mmo when its just a very very elaborate and expensive single player game with the ability to group with a few friends and do battle grounds. |

Originally posted by immodium yeah that doesnt make it exploration but i like your idea about unknown planets and if they can throw something like that in would be awesome and if it isnt linear then i can explore on my own from something like that. so we all win |

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/12/10 2:37:34 AM
Originally posted by immodium exploration was in the series and all others stated. running from the empire or whatever foes were chasing so and so.. they would jump to hyperspace and find a place to hide or land for safety or would travel to other systems. travel and exploration has been there. and just because other games didnt have it or had limited versions doesnt mean bioware cant do it. and time they do have.. if EA is dumping 150 mil u bet your ass they will more then likely make sure another investment doesnt go to waste... not countin their track record |

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/12/10 2:04:23 AM
Originally posted by GTwander yeah i agree with the whole gated zones thing. combat aside. just space travel in general. u gotta admit, no arguing over differences in views. with the budget this game has, and how pro star warsy they claim to be tryin to incorporate. you would think they would add space something in. |

Star Wars without the stars?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/12/10 1:55:46 AM
Originally posted by GTwander true but there was still spacecraft of all sorts that they used to travel and battle. like kotor for instance, the ships you traveled in and fought onboard. they could totally add it in. im not so much worried about the battles more so then the exploration.. exploration is my biggest want in the game. |

Star Wars without the stars?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/12/10 1:47:50 AM
Originally posted by GTwander yeah i know that swg didnt have it at launch but it didnt have near the amount of funding and SOE isnt the best developer in the universe. just sayin bioware usually makes in depth games for every aspect for whatever world they create and we havent heard a lick of news stating for sure or not. star wars is in space the majority of the time and throughout its timeline.. so, it better freakin be in at launch
and i do care |

Age of Conan has the best graphics by far. LoTRo has good environmental graphics but the character graphics are hideous Aion is good, but to anime for my tastes |

what the hell did you all expect? even before this game launched everybody knew how horrible it was going to be from how beta testers were saying. even the news released about the game told you how boring and crappy it was. and if you beta'd it you should of known better. Cryptic is a p.o.s thats true. but its kinda shame on you for buying it. they even stated that they werent making this game to please trekkies! |

I played both games.
Aion: looks pretty, flying is fun for the first hour or so. The grind is the worst I've ever seen in my life. Mid way through the game it just gets mind numbingly boring. The best part of it for me was creating characters because of the massive options. Playing them, not so much. I played it for about 2 to 3 weeks before I couldnt care less about it anymore.
AoC: I bought it at launch and quit before my free month was up. The game then was the biggest piece of shit ever. And most of the negative statements about it that are on this thread are from people who played at launch and havent played it recently at all. I just went back about a month or two ago, the game has improved dramatically. There is enough content now to last you through to 80 and the raids are actually there now and fun. I switched from pvp server to the pve server so I cant tell you about the state of them. When I played on them last it was a total cluster fuck, people griefing people 24/7. PvE though is awesome. But, there are still ass tons of bugs in the game. There is a good amount of quests that are either bugged or broken still. Game since 1.06 has been kinda unstable too. But nothing that will make you want to rage quit. Just little annoyances here and there. Overall a great game... finally. Took you long enough Funcom |

what the hell is with you people and stating that so and so game is going to kill WoW? I hate WoW with a passion, but regardless of that its retarded to make statements like that. Instead of hoping that this game smashes WoW, just hope this game keeps a healthy playerbase at all. Personally I could care less if WoW retains its 111111111111111 trilion playerbase or not. As long as the game I'm playing has a good population thats all that matters. That and the game isnt a broken bug ridden POS. |
