Danger! Danger! Danger Hound Challenge!
Hurray! Congratulations to all our young Wizards!

The challenge to earn the Danger Hound has been met! All registered members of Wizard101Central.com will receive a code for the Danger Hound after December 18th.

But wait...there's more!

As a reward for reaching the goal early, we are adding more to the prize! For every Wizard101 Facebook Fan we gain between the original goal of 50 000 and the closing date on December 18th at noon Central US time, we will also reward you with that amount in GOLD!

More fans = more gold! Keep up the great work, young Wizards, you’ve really earned that Danger Hound! Look for your rewards to arrive via email after December 18th 2009.

KingsIsle Entertainment's Josef Hall writes this developer journal continuing his series that compares Shadowbane, his last project and Wizard101, his current project. While there are many differences between the two, there are also similarities.

Our apologies if you've not received our responses. We've communicated back on several tickets that this account was compromised on 11/7 when the username and password were confirmed as being given out in game. We've issued a refund, please allow 2-3 days for the refund to appear on your statement.

Please know that KingsIsle Entertainment works very hard to maintain a safe environment for all of our players. While we try to negate the player's exposure to foul language and/or harassing behaviors, people can still get very creative in getting around our safe-guards. For security reasons, we can not share with you the exact chat logs used in game, however, if you contact us, we can give you a sampling of the the words/phrases which were said by the account's character which led to this sanctioning.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation in addressing this matter. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to respond to the email that was sent to you today regarding this matter.

Sincerely,
KingsIsle Support

As I stated in your other thread, young Wizard, I am looking into your unique situation. Please know this is not the norm from our customer support department.

~Professor Greyrose

I'll look into this immediately. If you do not get a response by Tuesday, please email me at community@wizard101.com.

I have suspended use of this account pending further investigation, so please know that at this time no one can access the account until we have thoroughly looked into what is happening.

I'm sorry you have not received an adequate response, but please be assured that I will personally look into why this was not addressed.

Please include your billing name &/or last 4 digits of the credit card in question (or your account username if you know it)

Hello potential young Wizard, I will attempt to answer your questions.

Each school has different strengths and weaknesses.

Fire has medium health, low accuracy and high damage.
Ice has the highest health, medium accuracy and low damage.
Storm has the lowest health, the lowest accuracy and the highest damage.
Life has high health, the highest accuracy and the lowest damage
Death has low health, high accuracy and low damage.
Myth has medium health, medium accuracy and medium damage.
Balance has medium health, high accuracy and medium damage.

Each school has at least one minion, here are the levels that the minions are available through a quest.

Fire - level 28
Ice - level 28
Death - level 28 (multi-level minion)
Storm - level 18
Life - level 18
Balance - levels 18 and 38
Myth - levels 2, 7, 18 and 38

There are hundreds of different cards, as well as versions of cards. Cards can be earned through quests, purchased individually or in booster packs, purchased at the Bazaar, Crafted and traded with other players as well as found as rewards from duels.

Keep in mind, Wizard101 is free to try, and you will be able to finish most of Wizard City without paying a single penny. This will give you a hint at the potential depth that players who have spent more than an hour playing the game can experience.

If you have any further questions, you can learn a great deal about the game at http://www.Wizard101.com and specifically about the schools here: https://www.wizard101.com/game/schoolsofmagic

If you have any direct questions, feel free to contact us at community@wizard101.com

See you in Wizard City!

~Professor Greyrose

Thank you for your kind words xpowderx.

It's great to hear how players discover our game, and we know it comes as a surprise to many. There are several aspects of the game that we're hearing appeal to serious gamers. Many use it as a retreat from more stressful, political and grindfilled games. Others take the opportunity to play with their family members in an environment they feel safe exposing their children to.

I'm sure you'll find lots of humour that many younger players will overlook in quest names and other interactions. The quest Fairies Wear Boots* is often a players first hint that some of our naming conventions are a little tongue-in-cheek.

I hope you continue to enjoy your time in Wizard101, and if you ever have any questions you can contact us directly at community@wizard101.com

See you in Wizard City!

~Professor Greyrose

Gyrus, thank you for your interest and your questions! We did indeed have a roadmap planed post launch which included the two world expansions (Dragonspyre and Grizzleheim), housing, crafting, and mounts. We have a number more to which I’m not yet at liberty to speak

While we had the roadmap planned we did do some tweaking post launch. Part of this comes from our goal of really working hard to interact with and listen to our community. One notable change was with the creation of Grizzleheim, our sixth world. It was originally planned to be a world post Dragonspyre and include a level cap increase. However, we decided that it had a much greater value to our community by being a parallel world that added content to players across multiple levels.

As to your last question, no info yet

MMORPG.com's Garrett Fuller spoke with Randall Lekan of The Syndicate, a hardcore MMORPG guild, to find out what appeal Wizard 101 could have for a player more familiar with a more hardcore style.

MMORPG.com:
Wizard 101 has been planned out as a kid's game. How did hardcore MMO players like you get involved?

Randall Lekan:

Kingsisle approached Dragons, the Guild Master of The Syndicate, and offered to allow us to joing the BETA. Initially I tried it out and liked it enough to add my children's accounts. At the time we were playing Toontown but my boys had lost interest so we were not playing as much. By the end of the BETA we were hooked and subscribed when the game went retail.

Not to toot our own horn but...

"The first game is Wizard 101. The game has become a huge success for KingsIsle Entertainment. It did not have the corporate power of Nickelodeon, Disney, or Cartoon Network behind it; these guys were on their own. What they have done is created a kids game that also appeals to hardcore adult players as well. The game is fun first and the business model followed second. Wizard 101 is a true example of success in the kids MMO market. Not only do they offer micro transaction options, but they have a subscription plan, and a family subscription plan. The game has upwards of five million registered users, but those are just numbers. The real test is to log into the game and check out the zones. There are players everywhere especially in the opening areas of the school. Wizard 101 is a great example of what an independent game can become without rules and restrictions. Pointy hats off to the guys at KingsIsle, they created a great game. "

Thanks Garrett, it means so much that people love the game we love to make!
