And sure It certainly will , because it's a very hot book/TV-showBut so does each and every useless Harry Potter game, because people doesn't even consider to look at reviews ..They buy such a game , just because they like Harry :)Personally , I would not consider making a game out of this IP at all, based around how the books and shows are, but thats me..    [/b][/quote]

I can respect this view , your speaking for your self you wont like it , ive no problem with that at all , know what i dont think the game will be that good ether . but i know for a fact it will be played and played alot but O so many players . theres a void for games of this type , so they dont have to make the best game in the world for it to be a big money maker. they just have to make the best game out there . which wont be hard at all.

check out NeverWinter browser rpg , its not even a "Real" mmo and there just shy of 350k weekly users the game sucks graphics suck and its heavy handed cash shop sucks but the player base grows weekly ,,,,,,,,,,,, Cuz theres nothing better out there.

I wish i could own a fail game like this then , 140k users in facebook alone and the games not yet opened

so side bar add sales by them self will generate about $1-5k a week profits
ez double that for click to view offers for free cash shop
then add in the 5% of the general F2P audience that make micro transactions on a weekly bases

I agree 100% a browser game bringing in $15-30k a week profits is total and utter failure

I have

Register now for Drakensang Online and play for free!

this is a very nice game they put out lately , the mmo aspect comes off with out a hitch , the RPG aspect is no worse than games like wow and rift
and its a low ram browser base game with not wonderful but not so bad graphics.

the majority here may not like it , but the majority here are also the majority no one likes ingame anyhow . the " im a ubber elitist minority "

People now days have less and less time to play games . company's like BigPoint are cashing in on this fact . putting out games we can play on smart phones and tablets while we sit on the train for or daily 40 min 1 way commute to work and back.

look at the spectacular numbers of users on crappy facebook games there are some with weekly log in accounts in the billions , these billions dont play because the facebook games are the best in the world , they play cuz there the best out there.

when picking a target audience for the Game of thrones MMORPG i dont think they were looking for a small group that likes almost nothing . i fairly sure they were looking at the big picture and the big pay off.

wow dude you used up alot of space to say nothing at all ,

every D&D gaame started from a book , almost every fantasy MMORPG in the world had inspiration from books , D&D and Cyber Punk beings the most pulled upon .

BigPoint hasnt done anything badly , they have just yet to do anything great .

It could have been much worse than BIGPOINT it could have been AERIA or GPOTATO

Maybe my first advice to wait for F2P to open before starting a new account was better advice than i gave myself credit for. Its fun for like a day to have the entire new player area to your self , then it kinda sucks .
i dont really want to have too run the first 50 lvls of the game solo . im all the times ive logged in in the last few days ive seen a small handful of players not moving at all in the start town , and 2 botters out in the world . the vast emptiness of the start up area will be quickly cured with the intro of F2P .
on a scale of 1-10 id give this game a fair 7 . 10 beings a pipe dream perfect mmorpg and 1 being hello kitty mmorpg ,

lol

LOL ??? a Fantasy full world MMORPG of FreeRealms quality would be freaking awsome , i could play it off any tablet or phone , you realize the client for Free Realms is only 75 megs right

i hate click to move so bad that i could find the most Ubber game in the world , be give a free life time sub to play . and id still not play the game .

Ever get stuck in a corner where the screen closes in and all you can see is the corner , sure you can click click click and move a tad bit , but how long did it take to get out. if you were running for your life you just died in that time.

I use 2 keyboard while gameing , the laptops "yes im a laptop gamer" keyboard and a usb keyboard . the left hand uses the USB keyboard to do all my moving , the right hand uses the laptops keyboard to do all my actions . i like the touch pad to control cam angle and cam angle only .

Am i odd in playing this way ? maybe . Does it look silly from others point of veiw ? maybe .  Am i to set in my ways to switch ? dam skippy !!!

The WASD movement in L2 is a bit cluncky , not real bad just a bit . some times mid movement the toon attempts to edit direction to follow the screen instead of the button , I can deal with this , atleast the right hand is doing the right function now when i play

I hadn't really considered getting a tablet before, I just didn't think I would use one. Recently someone suggested I could use one to stand in for four or five other gadgets I wanted to buy, but I know very little about them. So I have three random questions about these things that I'm hoping some of you can help me with, before I really start looking at buying one.http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290552098432  wonderful starter tablet

and its already loaded with flash10.1

1. I hear there are GPS apps that will make your tablet perform just like a standard GPS map unit for your car. I travel constantly and this would be a big help. Do these still work without a constant Internet connection? I've seen GPS units that don't need to constantly update themselves online and just use the GPS chip, but I didn't know if it worked the same for an app. Basically, can I use such an app without needing a 3G-enabled device?

Ya Kinda , id not rely on a tablet for mass used GPS . would work fine in a pinch but not as a go to tool

2. I have a car with a built in plug in for an MP3 player, so I just have to plug one in with a cable and get my music playing on the stereo. Would such a wire work with a tablet? If I were, say, using one for a GPS app, could I listen to music right off of it easily like an mp3 player?

you have built in mp3 player you wont even need the cable just blue tooth it over wirelessly

3. Because they're touch screen devices, is there an issue with larger and smaller screen sizes and different programs? Say I had a tablet with a larger than normal screen, would all the standard applications work on it, or do you have to look for ones specifically designed for a bigger size? This question is probably pretty stupid but as I said, I know nothing of these things.

Its really no harder than adjusting the screen rez of the computer your using right now

I appreciate any help. I am very behind the times when it comes to new hardware.

Anyone have you got a link to the 500% increase in profit mentioned above? Serious question.

I listened to the LotR  podcast last January but it talked about REVENUE being up 300%, it said nothing about Profit - although some commentators / websites mistook Revenue for Profit  - or simply forgot that companies have to pay wages and so forth.

Just to be clear: Revenue is not Profit and the source has to be from the company not a writer who has mixed the two up.

With Lego announcing the closure of their F2P yesterday Profit is key.

Also anything official on current player numbers?

There were DDO announcements just after launch and LotR announcements in January this year. Getting people to sign up when there is lots of publicity is one thing but 6 months later, 12 months later, with no advertising and what seems like a new F2P coming out every week to tempt people away.

Im sure he meant 500% increase at the peak of the switch over to F2P  , If i recall right DDO peaked near 700% prof in the first 3 months of F2P . there most like never going to see figures like that again . but the increased profits from F2P have made it possible to add content every 3-6 month so they can gain player base tho slowly and hold on to those already ingame.

I think it also depends on your playing habits.  I tend to only stay subbed to MMORPGs for like 2-3 months before unsubbing.  So that's only $30 in sub fees for my entire time playing the MMORPG.  And in that time, I get to experience the complete MMORPG without spending anything else.

So from my point of view, F2P is more costly if I want to unlock everything, when I only plan on playing for 2 months anyway.

Ok I can see where you comeing from then , the two of us have playing habits on oppisite sides of the field . If i find a game i like i tend to stick around for years. thee had been times before DDO went F2P that i paid my sub for months in a row and never once logged into the game . So the F2P buy a chunk of the game at a time and never resub mold fit great for me , its there when i want it and still there when i dont.

Even games that are free have items that can be bought so being free isn't always the end.

They may have a flow of players now but in this case conversion to cash is lower because most of such players play there because it is free and are not willing to pay for anything. In particular this is true for people from the developing countries.

Tell that to DDO and LoTRO, who saw 500% Increase in Profits since they went F2P.

I think you're mistaken at how many people are actually willing and do spend money in F2P. I know I've spent my fair share in the past. Most recently, in the past year I've probably spent $200 in League of Legends.

And this is why I hate F2P.

With F2P, you get to spend what you want to spend.  And if you want to "buy" the ENTIRE game, you're going to be spending way more than you would have if it was B2P.

Not true Bro . I enjoy playing DDO on the weekends we even have a P n P game we play inside  the DDO client using the ingame dice,

The F2P has been open on DDO what almost 2 years now? i bought 100 bucks worth of cash shop soon after the F2P release , with that i was able to own every expansion pack and had a bit left over , ive not put in 1 red cent past that point. tho with the ever growing expansions i will need to buy more cash shop . Im just waiting for the next bonus pack sale.

To me 50 bucks a year is not only cheaper to do than sub but more convenant ,

I do get your point tho , Some players dont have the smarts to spend wizely . with a drop of good smarts you can have all the benifits of vip sub in DDO atleast for around 5 bucks a month if you buy it all at once.

I just started the other day and these 2 tidd-bits made all the diff in the world on this game to me

This post is pure retarded ..........

1st theres no internation law against botting .

2 nd theres no courts anywhere in the world that would waste there time to hear a case where no law has been broken .

3 rd To attempt to sway a court to veiw mmo game money as a true currency would " if they were to sway a court" open up every mmo in the world to a endless line of lawsuits by disgruntal players.

its a 2 edged sword if they happen to make it to were mmo game money has a value in the court , so that they can get charges on botters  , then that same game currency now have moitary value to players that have been banned from games or lost items to hackers in games ,

90% of the worlds mmo's would be bankrupt in a year even if they happened to win every case against them the shear amount of legal fees would put them under.

Not to mention , we play in a world of proxies . you have to be able to prove where the crime was comitted . travel to the point the crime was committed and file charges and return to the same point for each and every court hearing.

If they get a law passed sure hope all the mmo companys invest in lear jets. travel expences are going to be crazy.

Dutch High Court already has made a ruling on digital theft earlier this year (a teen-age kid got robbed f his Runescape stuff by 2 other kids of his school). Also, Blizzard was able to get the scripter of some botting program fined. So I guess with this Jagex thinks to have an opening.

Personally, I think they don't stand a chance to prosecute the botters themselfs. Not with those made-up fines at least.

Both of you are missing the point here, it's not about bringing charges to botters, it's about suing them for profitting off of someone elses property, which can and has been done.

But for 1 thing , ALL the MMO companys in the world already swear noting in game has any value at all , that it is the service its self that is of value , to go threw with it in the manner you post would open a whole new can of worms. and im sure the American courts would be very fast to not only accept the cases as you stated but also quickly convict .

The same day the courts had a conviction , the case law would be in effect showing MMO ingame items as haveing a monitary value , Guess what !!! now the tax mans comming . This would be loke cutting off your arm to get rid of a hang nail. NO NO wait it would be like cutting off your arm and all your buddies arms cuz you had a hang nail.  Every MMO in the world would be effected .

Your as wishy washy as dish water dude ,

not really. i'm just pointing the person in the right direction. the guys that come up with the business models aren't always the same that delivery on customer service. I'm just helping him target the right entity within age. :P

But his observation was almost spot on .

Its been Aeria Busniness practice for quite some time to remove from the game free players that are out ranking the bulk of the paid players, if it can all be had for free the business end of the game fails. so Aeria discredits the free play by alledging mis behavior and issuing a ban .

Now it looks to the paying chumps in the F2P game that "See im still Ubber Cuz so and so cheated" free players removed from the ranking board , pay player returns to the top of the list , everyones happy but 1 sad gamer. If in business you can make everyone happy but 1 person that isnt spending money anyhow , you have done a good thing.

There are plenty of ways to get to the same goal without ban hammering away at the free players, But all other ways involve work. Aeria Games will not WORK for anything . they take the EZest path the can find to reach there goal . which is why they have the reputation they have now in the gaming world. And there games grow old and stale long befor there times.

Go to options and active "press enter to chat" (something like that), then u have ur WASD move.

I dont like much WASD in L2, but try it maybe you like it  :)

The skill bar 1 is for F keys, but the skill bar 2 is for 1,2,3,4...  maybe is better for WASD moves.

your right there is a WASD movement option

Well F2P / Freemium game design is "pay and you'll be great or don't pay and you can stay in game but you're peasant who paying users compare to to enlarge their e-peens".

OP was dedicated enough to not pay and aquire many store items - well company then banned him cause obviously they want only paying users be 'succesful' players.

Nlow you have true face of such developers and business models. It is nothing wrong itself, but really it should show those players that are worshipping f2p that there is nothing for free.

Pay, be a peasant or gtfo - that's basically what Aeria games want.

As much as I hate Aeria Games, and love discussing all the things wrong with the company, I doubt that's how any publisher envisions the free to play model.

Publishers know that if a game is f2p, it has to meet certain standards to rake in customes and retain customers. Banning players for choosing to never spend money on the game isn't a good way to retain customers. The thing is f2p games are usually highly receptible to bots, gold dupers because people that make up this content do not have to pay anybody to get money. So it's very possible that someone that earns all their in game currency by trading/buying/selling high value items could have run into an item that was introduced into the game by a third party source. banning is usually done to safe guard the account from certain suspicious activities. Stripping your account of all that you earned/worked for was probably an overzealous GM at work.

It's not the business model that failed. it was the customer support.

Your as wishy washy as dish water dude ,
