Assuming the person who makes tea can actually do a decent Wookie impression. I've heard some really terrible ones, and they would obviously want one that sounds similar to Chewie.

They would also probably need one for each gender, as a male and female wouldnt sound exactly the same.
TOR is fun to play, but disappointing to read about. Funny thing.
TOR was never canon. Thats the whole reason we have the term "EU"(expanded universe). On one hand you have the movies, and on the other you have the EU. TOR was and still is part of the EU. That is neither "good" or "bad", it is just reality.
Please fix the foundry! It is the absolute best part of the game and represents unlimited content. But it will never realize its potential unless you give it the resources needed to fix the bugs and keep adding new art assets on a regular basis!
When will Romulan faction players be able to have their own Romulan fleet starbases instead of having to use Fed and KDF starbases? And when will Romulan players be able to create their own faction's foundry missions instead of only being able to play Fed and KDF fation foundry missions? Please finish the Romulan faction by giving it the same features and support that the 2 main factions have.

I used to be a huge fan of this game until the Romulan expansion. I LOVE Romulans and this excited me to no end, a chance to play my favorite race in ST Lore. What I found was a butching of one of the key races and they being a part of both other factions instead of one unto themselves.

Now in fairness I understand the logistics of this from a programmer perspective and could forgive this, could until I saw the criminal level of rip off PWI was trying to pull. They want $160 for the faction pack. This BTW for a race that will never, according to the devs, get full faction status, they will always be a subset of the federation or Klingons. Basically all your $160 buys you is a bunch of in game skins.

This blatant and just disgusting pure cash grab has me to the point I will never play again.

I recall the day we heard PWI was buying Cryptic. A lot of us where concerned that PWI would turn Cryptic and it's games into their little money grab scams. Cryptic assured us that this would not happen, Cryptic would decide the direction. Well today we all know the truth Cryptic is dead and all that is left is an animate corpse controlled by the shills at PWI.

So, you have 2 main issues with LOR:

1) the story: you want to play the Tal'Shiar story rather than the Romulan Republic story. Personally, I do too. But I still enjoy the story they choose to tell.

2) the Legacy Pack price: there are 2 important things to realize about the legacy pack; first, you can buy pretty much all of the things in it individually, meaning you dont have to spend $160 if you dont want all of those things. second, you dont actually have to spend anything, since you can trade dilithium for zen.

Like I said in an earlier post, I currently have over $160 worth of zen sitting in my account just from trading dilithium. That means I can get anything I want from the game story without spending any of my own money. You simply cant beat that F2P model.

One other thing Suzie. You said:

"Outside of expansions like Legacy of Romulus, players can experience most of the game without running into any pay walls."

Maybe you didnt mean it this way, but that statement gives a false impression that the Romulus expansion costs something. It doesnt. It is absolutely free like the rest of the game. Yes, there are ships you can buy if you want, but that is no different than the rest of the game, so there is no reason you should have singled it out. In doing so you made it sound like something is different about the expansion, when there isnt. It is just as free as everything else. Please correct your wording, otherwise you are giving a false impression.

I see you have corrected this wording. Thanks!  =D

Ironically, your "con"(space combat) is what the majority of people seem to enjoy most about the game. Of course, each person is entitled to their own opinion, and an opinion is neither "wrong" or "right", its just a "feeling".

But as far as my personal opinion goes, here are the 4 main reasons why STO is my favorite game:

1) Its Trek, but not just in title. It isnt just a Trek skin slapped on a generic game. If you play through the storyline episodes, you will see that Cryptic really carries the Trek torch in continuing the story where the movies(Nemesis, not JJ) left off.

2) The Foundry means that I have a completely brand new mission to look forward to playing every time I log in. With the exception of Cryptic's other game Neverwinter, that is a pretty unique experience that cant be found in other MMOs and cant be understated. I will literally NEVER run out of content in STO because of the Foundry.

3) I can play every single mission in the entire game for free. While there are a lot of nice conveniences you can buy from the game store, absolutely none of them are required to completely level your character or to play ANY mission or access ANY new area in the game.

4) Lastly, and this ties in with #3, there is an exchange system in place that allows me to get any item I want in the game store without spending ANY of my own money. In fact, I currently have over $160 of game store currency just sitting in my account unspent from trading dilithium I earned just by playing the game normally(much of which was from the above mentioned foundry missions).

All of that said, of course the game is not perfect and of course there is room for improvement. However that doesnt stop me from enjoying STO for all the reasons mentioned above. It keeps getting better with everyone update and I'm looking forward to Season 9 and the next expansion later this year =D

The game has improved dramatically since launch. In fact, its surprised me, since I did not have very high expectations. That said, today has not been a good day because there have been ongoing server problems that has kept the game offline most of the day. However as someone who plays regularly, I know this isnt normal. Even so, it is kind of frustrating.

Is it true that they are not giving away a free ship at end of story but making you grind for it instead?

That depends on your definition of "free". The ship doesnt "cost" you anything, but yes you do have to spend time playing to get it. It does take more time than in previous years though.

Unfortunately the server has been down most of the day, but yeah cool =P

No, the "big news" is about Season 8 itself. This specific blog(#12) is just talking about reputation changes. You can see all of the features of Season 8 here:

http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=870711

Community feedback shows that the majority of players prefer PvE(source) and also want PvE content added to Galactic Starfighter(source). When, therefore, can the majority of your customers expect to see the type of content they prefer(PvE) added to the revamped/free-flight space system?

If you have read message boards for very long, you have probably encountered the following scenario:

1) somebody posts something that breaks the forum's rules

2) the comments get edited or deleted by forum moderators

3) the original poster or others start yelling about their "right to free speech" being violated

This may seem like common sense to many, but to the fools in #3 it obviously isnt: you have no "right to free speech" on a message board. Any so called "rights" you have regarding speech stop the moment you enter a privately owned area. Here is an example: you invite some people over to your house. One of them brings a friend, and this friend starts saying things you dont like. It could be profanity, vulgarity, politics, sports; it doesnt matter. Since it is YOUR house, then you have the right to decide who gets to be there and under what conditions. That means that you have the right to kick someone out of your house if you do not like how they are acting or talking.

The same is is true of message boards. You have no "right to free speech" on the message board. You only get to visit as long as you obey the owner's rules. So why are there so many fools who do not understand this and complain about their rights being violated when moderation occurs?

Although it has been confirmed that the Galactic Starfighter expansion will be PvP only, many people have speculated that this is simply a foundation to build on and that PvE content will follow.

However, a TOR podcaster recently attended the New York community cantina event and had a chance to talk with the devs on the subject. You can listen to the comments starting at 42:05, but here is a direct quote:

"I asked him about the possibility that the current, that Galactic Starfighter was designed with PvE in mind. He said no, it was not. That is far far far far far down on the wall of crazy, is PvE Starfighter. He said the biggest problems would be with scripting and 3D AI; things that they dont have in the game they would basically have to write fresh. The good thing about PvE is the good scripting. Getting the ability in at the right time makes it interesting and fun, but not unfair. You know, getting those enrage timers right. Getting like a DOT thrown out at the right time. Stuff that has to be done really well for PvE to work right. And for them to do that in space would be a lot of work. So problems with scripting and AI would be reasons that we wont be seeing PvE Galactic starfighter. So thats upsetting, I'm not happy about that, I wish that we could, but its understandable. And hopefully they make a good system with the Galactic Starfighter."

So while they may change their minds and decide to build on the PvP-only foundation one day, that is not their current plan, and it definitely wont be any time in the foreseeable future.

Finally, and MMO for the Twilight fans  =P

OP what did you want? Blow up 10 asteroids?

Have you ever heard of a game called Battlefront 2? It featured both PvE and PvP gameplay, and the PvE gameplay involved fighting against NPC ships(both fighters and capital ships). Sorry you were so confused  :)

It's just really hard for me to see, without a full blown space world. Ideally it would have mining nodes, space stations, enemy space ect.

Would you really be happy with a hand full of "assault this ship!" or "Stop these asterioids!" quest?

What I would personally enjoy would be:

1) half a dozen dailies that take place in various systems.

2) a few group level high end missions against enemy stations or capital ships

And of course, since this is an MMO and new content is being added over time, they could add more of those types of content as they are able.

I recently wrote a blog here at MMORPG asking the question "Is making the space revamp PvP only a smart move for Bioware?". You can read the blog here:

http://www.mmorpg.com/blogs/Grand_Nagus/102013/25535_Is-making-the-space-revamp-PvP-only-a-smart-move-for-Bioware

If you have been living under a rock and have just crawled out to get some fresh air or sunlight, you may not have yet heard that Bioware has just announced the 2nd digital expansion for "The Old Republic", titled "Galactic Starfighter". If you havent already, check out the promo page here:

http://www.swtor.com/galactic-starfighter

If you are at all familiar with TOR, you may also be aware that players have been asking for free flight space gameplay since before the game even launched. And Bioware was obviously paying attention, because for some time now they have been working on the "Super Secret Space Project", which has culminated in this new expansion.

So this is good news for everybody, right? Well, not exactly. In a shocking move, Bioware has decided to make this expansion PvP ONLY. Thats right, absolutely NO PVE space missions in this expansion, as confirmed by Bioware here:

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=6824326#edit6824326

Now as previously mentioned, people have been asking for free flight space gameplay for a long time. But not even once in all of those discussions have I ever seen anyone ask that this system be PvP only. In fact, I doubt that idea even entered into anyone's minds, because it just seemed like common sense that any such system would be both PvE and PvP.

Before I go any further, let me be clear about one thing. I definitely understand and agree with the fact that PvP has not gotten enough attention in this game's history. It both needs and deserves to get more content, and I am really glad to know that this new space expansion features PvP content. That all makes perfect sense to me.

But at the same time, it is commonly known/accepted that most players are PvE inclined:

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=687542

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=687006

That doesnt mean PvE is "better" than PvP, it is just a matter of personal taste. But this isnt about PvE vs PvP. What this is about is Bioware finally releasing the #1 most requested feature that people have been asking, no begging for since beta, but doing it in a way that none of the people asking for it ever wanted. Sadly, this reminds me of one of those stories where someone gets a magic wish, but then the evil genie makes it come true on a horrible way that the person never meant.

Having said all that, there is one microscopic ray of sunshine. On the promo page for the expansion, it makes the following statement:

"Galactic Starfighter will continue to evolve with regular updates for all players so check back often for more details!"

I can only hope for both Bioware's sake and for the sake of the players that this means they are working on PvE content for this new free flight space system. Only time will tell.

What do you think? Is making the #1 requested feature since launch something that is PvP only a smart move?
