I could be wrong... but I didn't see his statement as a negative thing at all. He's just not going to worry about it one way or the other until he gets the chance to actually install the game, play it; and then form an opinion on it one way or the other.
Probably a lot better approach to judging the merits of a MMO than any other method that I can think of.

Originally posted by javac I'd say that's a pretty safe prediction. No game will ever be the be-all-end-all for every gamer.
Take WoW as an example... pretty much the darling of the main-stream media. Most non-gamers probably think that all MMO gamers love and play WoW. Obviously that is not the case. A fair number of us just don't really care for the gameplay of WoW. It's not a bad game. The players that do like it aren't bad gamers. It's just that we all have different preferences in games and MMOs in particular.
Hopefully when Darkfall is released it will be the game that they wanted to deliver. I think pretty much everyone would agree that Aventurine took a different approach than most developers do... we'll see how it works out in the end.

The game looks great, offers compelling new experiences and freedom players don’t often see with some of the most widely played MMOs. Darkfall offers a rich variety of experiences that will appeal to MMO veterans and new players alike,” said Derek Wise, founder and CTO of GNi, Inc." www.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/permalink/ Please explain to me how Derek Wise is a a "anonymous guild member" or "developer friend"..
From that link above... they are planning to release the game simulaneously to 50 countries. Yet, I seem to remember reading that the United States wasn't one of those 50. Is that still true? Is there a list somewhere of the 50 countries that it is being released in? |

Just some info. I found on the newspaper in question:
If I translated the header info from the pictures posted in the OP's original post the newspaper/tabloid is: Eleftheros Typos
The link below shows that it is a Greek-only newspaper (meaning it is not translated into other languages). www.greeceindex.com/various/greek-newspapers-magazines.htm
This next link shows that Eleftheros Typos is a right-of-center (some even call it right-wing) leaning newspaper/tabloid. (The whole left/center/right classification is more of a European thing with their newspapers and tabloids. It's not really pertinent as it pertains to Darkfall anyway though).
The link above also says that as per 2005 (the latest that data was available apparently). The circulation for the newspaper/tabloid Eleftheros Typos was something less than 74,602. The pertinent quote from the link above is: "The largest daily, the centre-left tabloid Ta Nea, had a daily average circulation in 2005 of just 74,602. The most influential centre-left daily is To Vima; on the right the largest-selling newspaper is the tabloid Eleftheros Typos."
One last quote that I found interesting from the link above: "Surveys have shown that many young people under the age of 25 never read a newspaper."
As a point of reference the NYT (New York Times) has about 1,077,256 average daily circulation. www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/28/emnew-york-timesem-circul_n_98991.html Obviously Greece is not New York though... so take that into consideration when considering the difference in circulation numbers.
Anyway... just some random info. I found that might be pertinent to the discussion about the newspaper in question.
