Profitability = Success. Is SWTOR profitable? I dunno, but thats all that one needs to know about it. So what if the game sucks (or more accurately, you personally dont like it) , if its turning a profit then it is/was successful. While the free market is competitive, it it by no means a zero sum game...That is you dont need to nail #1 on the charts in order to be successful.

Why The Secret World and Funcom Deserve Better
General Discussion « The Secret World 8/22/12 7:30:19 PM
I really dont understand the objection to the sub+cash shop model when the shop is purely for vanity and there is no reason that any player HAS to use it. It offers zero advantages to those players that do choose to use it. So who cares? Its no sweat off my sack if someone wants to drop some $$$ on a new beanie or a leather coat for their toon. Whats the issue...? WoW has a cash shop more or less that offers purely cosmetic items to players, why isnt that considered a strike against it, when for so many people its a deal breaker when it comes to TSW.

I heard that drinking bleach can cause brain damage. You might want to start there...A ball peen hammer might be a good second choice if the former option proves ineffective.

On topic though , I agree that the challenge presented in the game is refreshing and that I personally would not invite a nerf to content difficulty. The challenging parts are easily overcome when player utilize the skill wheel appropriately. The game wasnt designed for players to pick a spec and run with it, the intent was for us to find multiple , versatile builds that could be adapted per the situation. If you get stuck, retool your build. If you cant fingure out how , or what to do , then this game is simply not for you.

Hrrrrmm, I still have tons of content to play through...How could this be? Perhaps its because I have other hobbies that occupy my time. Perhaps its because I have a family which also demands a certain amount of my attention. FFS, people tear through content -spending what must be an obscene amount of time in front of a computer screen- then start crying because they have exhausted all there is too do. You know what? The simple fact that I still have a lot of content to complete , that I have not yet been jaded by the "limited content" makes whatever point youre trying to make here entirely moot and without merit to me , or anyone else, who takes their time or has other shit to do besides play a video game. I will wager, that a large majority of players fall into the camp of "casual" or "still have content to complete"... Seriously, does this genre exist only for those people who seem to have nothing else to do...? I think not.

Funcom hit it out of the park with this one. |

I dont think you can abandon quests, but you can replace them with other quests then pick them back up after...kind of a pain in the ass I know. Im not completely sure , but in open beta I ran into the same issue at that was all I could do. |

Kinda tough upgrading everytime a new mmo comes out I know, but I guess thats just the nature of the beast that is PC gaming. :(

Have you considered a murder/suicide pact? Sounds like a good fit for you guys. |

They need to at least add different body types/sizes...while I have very few gripes about the game and am and chomping at the bit for Friday to get here, the lackluster CC is a drawback. A dealbreaker? No, but still could be improved on in obvious ways. |

how about Peter Joseph? haha :) |

The reason it was so Templar heavy in Fusang was becasue everyone was playing the templar characters they created during the first beta weekend. I seriously doubt it will be this lopsided after launch and everyone roles the factions that they want and not just the one that was made available first... |

Originally posted by Fendel84M I agree. I dont like my character being forced to make scripted replies in a voice not of my own design, it detracts from the immersiveness. I can form a response of my own , with my imagination, in my own voice. Its more of an RPG and less of a choose your own adventure puppet routine. |

Issued a warning for expressing my opinion, not deragtory at all.

Yes , it was trolling. Your comment had nothing to do at all with the OP's question and was not meant to be constructive in any way. And btw, who cares? You got a warning...big freakin whoop. |

The Secret World: My Wife the Noob and TSW
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/17/12 10:48:40 AM
TSW is the first MMO, or any video game besides Mario Kart Wii for that matter, that my wife has shown an interest in. If it happens I will be curious to see how her expereince relates to that of the wife in this account. Oh and to the author, gratz on your victory lol , i have been trying to get my wife to play mmos with me for ages...

You can boycott Nike, for example, because they abuse workers in Indonesia. You cant boycott Nike because you think the new Air Jordans look stupid. |

I, personally, have experienced very few bugs, none of which impeded my progress in game, and have crashed only two times in over 6 hours of play time. While im not a veteran beta tested, I do remember the Warhammer Online beta, and compared to THAT this is practically fine tuned. Also, I can remember during the WAR beta that people were talking about how much better that was than some of it earler prdecessors, such as WoW. As far as this player is concerned , all the Funcom hate is unwarranted and is most likely just the knee jerk reactions of people with preconceived ideas about TSW and Funcom in general.

How are so many people complaining about a game in beta?
General Discussion « The Secret World 5/11/12 2:13:03 PM
I for one have experienced only a single crash and havent come across any bugs yet. Granted i just got to kingsmouth and am not far into the game, but compared to what some others are reporting, my experience has been a breeze. There are some aesthetic issues , but imo, what it lacks in crispness and polish, it makes up for with the unique theme and dark atmosphere. Besides, crispness will be applied as will some polish no doubt , so I dont have many complaints yet. Moreover, I think the skill system is really badass and the fact that its such a massive pool will allow for versatility of playstyle like no other mmo has been able to do. I think that the beta is going well so far and the haters, who logged in with their pre-conceived opinions of the game, and are now only able to feel somewhat justified in voicing their largely unsubstantiated opinions, simply because now they can say they have actually played it.

The Secret World: Removing Mystery's Shroud
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/11/12 7:32:37 AM
So long as the primary issues are aesthetic , besides the bugs that are inevitable with any fresh MMO, I can seem myself overlooking them and having a great time with this game. Moreover, if indeed the animations are mostly placeholders this issue should be remedied easily enough. That there is only one body type seems weird , but as the author pointed out TSW uses the same engine as AoC which allowed for various body types, could this be changed as simply as the animations when it comes time to swap out the place holders for the real deal? Im know next to nothing about the technical possibilities of that so late in the game , but I would think that it would be a fairly simple matter. Anyway, I will be counting the minutes until the beta goes live, stoked! |
