It is like in any other field. Some people want to show they are the “professionals” the “conaisseurs” “the possessors of the truth”. They feel they are allowed to dictate what is good and what is bad. Of course under their point of view anyone that could enjoy, like, agree, feel any positive, different from what they think or just want to show is the “real quality” the “essence” is one moron, noob, ignorant and in the best case he/she not deserve any other think than a paternalistic smile. They feel or at least they try to show they are way above of the common mortals, they have a desperate need to show, to mark very clear the difference. What’s the best way to do this? Of course, of course you are right … as more popular is one thing more attacked it will be for these “experts” that in another way tend to confuse their own tastes with quality. Moreover they have a legion of followers that are trying to show how good students they are, how much they agree and understand the lessons of their masters. The problem with them is that they are going some times far beyond the opinions of their teachers and make them to feel ashamed. A game is as good or bad to anyone just depending on his/her taste. Forget about the “experts”, they live in his resplendent Ivory Tower and their superior minds cannot be understood by us the ordinary plebes. Go enjoy your game and forget if it is or not hated for someone. By the way I don’t like WoW. I played it 6 months, got bored and left. It’s not my taste but I think it is a great game and I think than more than 10 millions of players are having fun with it, that’s great! No other MMO have done this ever and if things are not going to change a lot this also will be true for some time in the next future. Have a nice day. |

No worries. To me Aion looked nothing like a Sandbox and sounded like another grind game. I definetly do not like the Flying aspect of it. Im sorry that to me makes a grind game. I guess I could be incorrect about it being an Asian game. It realy looked like one to me but I could be wrong. In my eyes with the information on there site I view it as a Grind Game as I would any game with levels and classes. Sandbox's lack these things for a reason. So no I can't say I see Aion as a Sandbox. These are my opinions of the game are you saying i'm not allowed them?
What are the main character classes in Aion? Sorry but this part right here just screams "I'm not a Sandbox" lol and the art style of the game http://www.aiononline.com/us/media/screens/ Has that Asian/Anime feel to it for me atleast. So I see it as an Asian Style Grind Game. I guess I had a bit more information than you thought huh lol. Again though don't through a fit , this is just my opinion of the game. Your's may differ but the wonderful thing is were both allowed them :) Oddly enough after doing a brief ammount of research I found out that Aion is being Developed in Korea....... So I guess since it doesn't meet the requirements for a sandbox and does for the grind style MMO's and is being developed in Korea.... that would have made me dead on..... lol so I can now say Sorry Trissa but you have no clue what Aion is going to be. Please try and get informed before you post. It's best. Thanks ^^.
Just few points because i think this is a waste of time and is oftopic in this thread. I never said Aion is going to be a sandbox and second, of course if you think that the fact that a game that has character levels like AC, EQ, DAOC, WOW, LOTRO just to name some, its a grinding game, then yes Aion is a grinding game. But if you think a grinding game is one like Lineage II to name one of the same company or a lot of other MMORPGs made in Korea, then Aion is not going to be a grinding game. These kind of games is what the MMORPG comunity names normaly as Korean grinding games. But of course you can consider a different approach. Will be better if you explain your non-standard concept about what is a grinding game before to use it to avoid getting people confused about what you say. Just to resume it in two lines, Aion is going to be a game basically quest driven like WOW or LOTRO, the time to get the level cap is expected to be just a bit bit longuer than WoW and the end game will be focused in faction PvP, well this apparently new concept of PvPvE we will see... By the way, i'm following Aion since one year ago more or less. Really i follow all the MMORPGs that are able to caught my atention, Darkfall the nomber one in my list, but probably Aion the number two. I know what Aion developper's are aiming with this game very well and is not a "Korean grinding game". If at some point you think you want to know more than your asumptions about what Aion is, feel free to visit www.aionsource.com and take a look on the FAQ there. Its a good place to get informed about Aion. Of course no doubt we all are allowed to show our opinions about whatever want and to me is perfect you say that you don't like at all Aion or whatever. Sure a lot of people will think the same. But my point was and still is that you where showing an opinion without enough information and this could misslead some other people that know more or less the same than you about the game. Sorry to say this GrayGhost79 but you have no clue about what Aion is going to be. Please try to get informed before post. It's better. Thanks I plan to go play Darkfall. I do hope for a game full of freedom and with a mature community. Things like your comments are not showing too much of this. |

Well... I'm really not going to add too much to what was said. I'm going to post, this is my first post after years of just reading in these boards, because i wanted to thank the OP and almost all the posters the maturity and good sense of your words. Unfortunately Is not that frequent to read a thread full of respect in these and other boards about MMOs. Again thanks to all the people in this threat to keep it in this wanderful tone. |
