I like that game too, but its got so many cheaters that I wonder why I play it.   DICE makes great games but they make the cheats so fast these days.    The see all cheaters and the auto aimers, why cheat in a game like this its pointless for them to even play.    I can see them using cheats if thier disabled.

You can discredit the forums all you like, but in the game players like me who actually play the game as well as others have posted facts of what is being experienced right now.

Poo poo it all you want, but no matter how you slice it, its a damn shame and sad.

The curse of the major IP I guess.....I do love SWTOR though even with all its faults, but then again I am playing Imperial so I am very happy except for the lack of Republic opponents in PvP, which results in long PvP que times and no PvP in contested areas of worlds.

Like I said, the PvP servers were tha most popular.

There are 100+ server in SWTOR so even if you want to gather enough data to support all the whining by imperial side, you just cna not do it. A vocal minority on forums does not translate to mass exodus as you were trying to prove with your original post. Hyperbole and exaggeration never makaes a solid argument.

100+ servers plus 100+ layers, whenever I logg in Im usually loggin into instance world 64 or higher.    But hey my experience half the servers interested in pvp.    Cut the 1.7 million and youll end up with 800k players by fall.     Then its a slow decline from thier.

I NEED TEH PVP

This, the only MMO pvp that I ever enjoyed was on Star Wars Galaxies.   100 vs 100 on some days, laggy as hell but fun.    Normal 30 vs 30 till it started to die off in the end when they started free transfers.

Yeah, mobs are easy but so are they in more or less all MMOs that have released the last 8 or so years.

Sorry, but there isn't much choice besides playing one of the really old games and even them have often become a lot easier now.

I think the devs underestimate us players, but this isn't really a TOR thing but something that is general for the entire genre.

Not really EQ2 and AOC have a option when you zone, regular or extra crispy. AOC for all zones if I remember right.
Ya same here I hardly have time to play, next two weeks business trip. To tired to play on the week days I only get weekend game time these days.

Well the game is too easy. The first 4 FPs can be two manned at level. That is just wrong.

I found the single player stuff is pretty on target, I like the group tasks a lot more, the first time I did the black talon it was a blast. I've been grouping a lot more lately for the harder side story's.

Bet you 10,000 monopoly dollars TOR will go free to play before Rift does ;)

Cant understand how so many like these dumbed down games that lead you around and doesnt offer you features, exploration, player content, or anything else worthy of a true mmo.

Like paying 15/month for console games? Ill let you borrow my KTOR games for 13/month ;)

Na but EA stock is dropping over this game. They'll still make a butt load of money but it's defiantly not looking good if they don't make some big changes. What surprises me is SWG had huge maps compared to this game, they hide the fact the maps are small by making them like a maze with high walls mountains or buildings to make you feel like your playing on a big map.

OP... great question, and one I have been constantly asking for since beta. I just read where the game is going with the March update....ZERO IS BEING DONE TO IMPLEMENT WORLD CLASS RVR.So I cancelled a few minutes ago.I'm frankly sick of thinking  about my $59.95 mistake.Time to move on.

Alot of the big fixes go into next development, so like AOC it took them a year to put in things people want.   BW might be quicker but I wouldnt expect anthing out till next winter.     Not a waste of money try it out in a few months.    Plus most people are not 50's wait till the server pop is leveled then youll see alot more pvp going on.

People complaining about Ilum are the minority of people that have 10 hrs a day to play games still.

And I can't even say "I told you so", because I decided to take the high ground for this game and adopted a "wait and see" attitude...

Though at the same time I'm glad I avoided all the hype, and saved myself $60.

I was going to wait myself, but Im having fun, not power grinding one toon, I got 4 alts.   Im on the Bounty Hunter this weekend leveled up to 12.    Got a level 17 and a 10.     I saw this coming myself, I havnt seen a MMO like this that focuses on one thing; be very good in other areas.

Give them 6 months Im sure they got things going that will solve things later.   In the mean time Im going to go it slow and level my alts while they round out the game.

Here is the list of stuff that is missing and will make me stop playing / subscribing at end level:

Beast Master (even the ability to control a pet, but would be awesome if you could create your own like in SWG)
Chronicles / Story creation tool
Player Cities
Harvesting
Better and more rewarding Crafting
Huge areas of space to explore - Even STO does it better than SWTOR, with far less staff and less money and less time to get it done.
Seasonal Events
Mission Terminals - Individually they were all basically the same, but when they mixed with the spawns in the wild, no 2 missions were ever the same.
8 player multiplayer vehicles

or things like it, as without it there is just nothing to mess around with between doing the story based quests.

I have no interest in PVPing or raiding, but used to like doing the above stuff in SWG, and could not get enough of it.

Yes, a lot of people have been saying they are not going to sub at the end of 30 days because there is just too much missing. Other MMOs have not been all complete, and added later, but SWTOR has been the most lacking so far. It is just voice over story based questing like other MMOs and nothing else worthwile in it, and getting characters through to max level has been extremely quick and short.

In LOTRO, SWG, Aion, WOW, EQ2 etc etc it has been a jaw dropping experience just to roam the lands. In SWTOR it is move from point A-B-C-B-A-D etc and just a dull boring lifeless journey, and nothing to make you stop and admire the view and take things in slowly. Twin suns in SWG on tatooine - breath taking

I am sure they plan on adding things, but it is not going to help some people after the 30 days are up. If it is more story basd quests they just plan on adding, and no tinkering side stuff, and can be done in a week, then it might be best to sub after every fourth update. SWG had a tonne of things to do, and even if they added no more content all the systems in the game was enough to keep the players amused by themselves.

Ya the game is fun in only one way, story, beyond that it makes SWG look like a well rounded game no wonder why they killed it.

No high res textures? After you said it was a bug and being fixed? How can anyone pretend that Bioware knows what they are doing now?

1. No forum search function.

2. No UI customizability.

3. No viable way to consistently play varied builds (No dual spec and uncapped respec costs).

4. No queueing for specific Warzones.

5. No server forums.

6. Phasing still remains throughout the game, while it was said that it was only for the beginning zones and only for a short time after release.

7. No proper LFG feature. Not even a global LFG channel.

8. Many people still have performance issues even with the lowered graphics, especially in 8v8 PvP. 8v8.

9. Unfinished CE shop.

10. No world atmosphere.

11.  Tiny draw distance for ground effects.

12. No race variety.

13. No macro or addon support.

14. Ability delay.

15. Simultaneous US and EU maintenance. As if they can't afford two maintenance crews like pretty much every decent MMO on the market right now.

Seriously? Sure, individually these are not gamebreaking but combined they really make you wonder what the budget was spent on.

There seem to be those that believe it is financially possible and physically possible to add every feature from every previous mmo before launch in a polished state in less development time than all previous mmos, although it took some of those games literally over a decade to create and implement these said features.

Gone seem to be the days when an mmo was to 'grow' after its initial release, now we demand a 'complete' ever growing game which already has everything we ever wanted, but magically can still add more of what we want. In short, we are demanding a 'feature', which is unobtainable.

The game is not a month old, could you folks let them spend some time with their families before crying foul and their slow pace of adding features.

If you compare this game's features at release with every other mmo's release features, it may not be at the top of the list, but it is a long way from the bottom. As mmo's go, this game is proving that there is a continuing trend that we as customers are receiving more at release than previously.  They made decisions that resulted in a fluid polished, playable game - if they put the lfd tool on the back burner to make that happen, I am happy.

I slogged through EQ with hand drawn maps created while I played - I can certainly be patient for an lfd tool.

You nailed it, one more year would have been best?   But for them to find more faults they would either need a longer period for testing, then a longer redo than they did.    The beta faults beyond stability or buggs are all these companys are interested in.   Playability seems to be the last thing any of these companies are thinking about.

So I guess only paid reviewers are to be listened to and anyone who thought the game was less than an 8 or 9 is just not looking at the game "objectively".  Right... glad I understand now.

Im starting to think you own stock in EA and LA.

SWG lead to alot of what SWTOR is about, the kiddies complained about reading lol, so you get major voice overs.   The kiddies complained about making thier own content, so its mainly a theme park closed world.     I actually like it so far, the story is fun but Im getting tired of the same old kill X return.     But the side storys are helping while I do the main story.

I actually like the graphics, maybe cause I got a higher end machine than most so Im not having problems with looks.

EA & BW's reputation took a massive hit today, no other way to say it. I know personally, they are on my skeptic list the next product they release.

On the lighter side best post i saw was re: this issue

Your playerbase has discovered that your game engine is ignoring the high texture option. Do you:

  1. Fess up, explain that the pressure of the impending release date caused your team to have to cut a few corners, and this got missed.
  2. Acknowledge the issue and agree that the textures should be fixed, and promise to do so in an upcoming patch.
  3. [Force Persuade] [Dark Side] Rename “Medium” to High, and pretend like removing high res textures has always been the plan. Move along! Move along!

I think Bioware has just achieved Dark II!

Na they need to memorize the SOE mantra, "Working as intended".

They need to make a MMO with this engine, http://www.frostbite2.com/      Id like it if they had PVP where you could smash the S outta the arena.

And after sobering up, the Keebler Cookie Factory/Hollow Tree.

LOL, you reminded me thier used to be Cyber Hoo,,ers in some MMO's Ive played, credits for umm yaa.    Topic is a little confusing, 400k$ money worth of in game gold?     After a year or more 400k doesnt buy you much.     Ive never seen a game that has combated ingame inflation yet.

Man peoples expectations are way to high for this game, they did tell you from the get go what they where making.   Its not a general MMO.    I just got the game last night and am having fun playing it.   My expectations from what Ive read are pretty spot on so far.   Theme park, Start location A. follow the path from thier.

Ill play the differnt storys then leave and come back when they add content but anything more than that your wishing.   People need to understand this was never from the start planned on being open world MMO with PVP in mind.    Theme park RPG, with MMO elements added as an after thought, hell the PVP was even a after thought.

Can't be right...right?

"After only a couple weeks online, the news for The Old Republic has gone from good to bad. Following some drama over the weekend, news has come out that after one week on the UK charts the game dropped from #10 to #38. Now the analysts are stepping in and while they see a healthy MMO market, they don’t think that TOR is hurting WoW at all:

Baird Equity estimates that the game has peak concurrent users of roughly 350,000 players.

According to analysts at Cowen and Company the uptake of The Old Republic has had “minimal apparent impact” on Blizzard and Activision’s market-leading World of Warcraft.

Hopefully things pick up and the concurrent player base grows, otherwise the game will become like Warhammer Online in a few months."

350k Western users logged in at the same time is actually pretty damn good.    Ive seen Developers use the 20-25% rule, looks like 1.75 million western users.    That is pretty much as many as  WOW has with western players.    Lets see what happens with the Asian markets.

No. WoW has an estimated 5 million NA/European subscribers. And SW:TOR is new and the free month is not over yet so I would wait a few months before compare real sub numbers to people playing in their free month.

I for sure wont be playing past the first month, the game does not have the MMORPG features to warrant a sub. fee.

WOW includes people that have tried the game, the real number is close to 2 million current users, North America and Europe.

What are you on about? WoW has 10-11 million active subscriptions, which about half is from Asia. No idea where you get the 2 million from.

Ok I forgot to add my footnotes.   Ive read many differnt sites to see how many people where still playing Star Wars Galaxies.    They all pretty much agree that thier are 2 million North American and Europeans playing WOW.   They also agree that thier are 5 million Asian players.    WOWs real subscription is closer to 7 million people, not the 11 million.   WOW doesnt exclude people that have played and people that have tried the free trial as current players.

Summed up WOW does not have 11 million players.    It has closer to 7 million, which is still a huge number of subs.   Lets not get into the debate about multiple accounts.    If you want to boil it down, the average player has more than one account.   You take in the gold farmers and blam you got maybe 3 million people playing WOW.

Using that 350k number makes SWToR look pretty successful so far.  I don't understand why people think the new MMo has to unseat WoW to be a success, there is plenty of room for other MMo's in my opinion other than just WoW.

Looks like its doing great, the big test is time.  What I see happening is the people playing it will be the test for that, they will either recommend it to thier freinds and it will grow or they will not and the game will die.
