Looking for new game is LotRO what I want?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 9/24/08 3:05:44 PM
LOTRO is very solid MMO and will keep you entertained far beyond what it costs. Pretty cheap just 19.99 for the full game via digital download. Then 15 bucks a month or you can buy a lifetime for 299$ but they have a special sometimes its only 199. If you like questing it's a great game. You don't have to be hardcore to enjoy this game at all. Very well polished game about to get even more polished with an upcoming expansion. But already the UI system, crafting system, just about everything else are top notch. The areas are beautiful, spooky, to sinister. If you like nice scenery you'll constantly be going "That is really kick ass!" your entire journey to 50 and beyond. Plenty of group content and plenty of solo content. Pick your poison. It's true it isn't a PVP oriented game but the PVP that is to be had is very fun. Lots of events and festivals throughout the year. There's also options that can make your combat even easier. Like one is auto-move to target you can turn it on. When it is on you'll automatically walk to and face whatever you attack. Plethora of quickslots, macros, etc... You can set. If you guys want total ease of combat buy yourself a G15 Logitech keyboard. You can program an entire fight or whatever to just 1 key. Anyways hope the info helps.

I've played both WAR and AOC and think both are terrible. AOC is buggy to hell still and will be for a long long long long time. Talking possibly years if the thing is even around by then. AOC is boring as there is nothing to do. Nothing to do and with low populations nobody to do nothing with! With WAR I found it uninspired and also boring. No bugs but the animations are just shitty. Crappy graphics. Nothing to write home about that's for sure. Character customization is laughable. If you're looking for a PVE game. You should check out Lord of the Rings Online. In DirectX10 the graphics are stunning and is chocked full of content. Very worthy game that is very underrated. They even have a free trial http://www.lotro.com no need to plop money down on MMO's when there's so many free trials. Hell even WOW is better than WAR & AOC and has some exciting PVP. Overall if you're looking for a brand new MMORPG to be completely smooth you won't find it. You should check out some that've been out a year or more before jumping on the latest bandwagon. With AOC I wouldn't even think of checking back on that game for 2 years and I'd expect they'll still have glaring unaddressed issues. Just look at their other MMO AO that has the same bugs in it since it was released 7 years ago. War will probably be popular who knows. The graphics for me were too low standard to even give it a second glance.

So AOC is booming with but still loosing players

The similarity between AC2 and AOC is staggering to behold. All you have to do is interchange the name and you couldn't tell the stories apart. Same story different year.

Increased forum and server activity in AoC post Patch 2.0 Introduction
General Discussion « Age of Conan 9/24/08 10:23:57 AM
Anyone seen those commercials for the Swiffer Sweeper commercials where the broom is delivering candy and flowers begging to be taken back. All these posts from the AOC Fanboys remind me of that. PLEASE TAKE AOC BACK! We've changed! We won't hit you anymore! We've had anger management! We won't ignore you anymore! Please baby come back please! That's what I hear when I see these desperate attempts to get people to resubscribe to that POS game. Any day now I expect to start getting candy and flowers from Funcon or have Erling drive up in a limo in a tuxedo on hands and knees. First the Fanboys told us all to GTFO now they're all alone they're crying and begging for our return. |

Did LOTRO already "Jump the Shark" with Mines of Moria?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 9/23/08 10:25:53 AM
Moria isn't even out... Seems like many are jumping the gun here and are going on false information and rumors eh? Turbine has done an excellent job of staying to the lore as possible. You can only do so much within a game environment. Nowhere in the game can you actually say they BROKE the lore in any aspect. They've bent it in areas it needed to be bent in order to make a fun enjoyable game. They haven't broke it in the past and aren't going to break it now. Everyone should just settle down and wait for the expansion before making such rash judgements.

Pre-ordered Warhammer. Played the beta that came with the pre-order. After 2 days I ended up cancelling my Warhammer pre-order. You're level 50 so you already know what LOTRO is. The reason to continue playing LOTRO is Moria is right around the corner and there will be multiple free content upgrades after that. Some of LOTRO free content updates are better than some MMORPG's expansions. Bottom line is you play the game that is more fun for you personally. Be it LOTRO or checkers.

LOTRO is one of the most underrated games around. The only reason LOTRO isn't the huge success it should be is simply because Turbine doesn't advertise. When's the last time you saw a LOTRO Ad? Exactly. They seem to be trying to change as they've put in 1 Ad in PC Gamer and are now under a new distributor WB. If they got off their asses and properly marketed this game it'd blow up to a million subscibers easily. Most people are unaware this game even exists. Not all servers are having population problems either. If you feel like your population isn't where you want it on your server then transfer to a more populated one. They're out there.

warhammer graphics very similar to lotr
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 9/23/08 9:24:31 AM
I've played both games. Not sure how you can say LOTRO graphics are even remotely similar to WARS. LOTRO graphics in DirectX10 is just amazing... WAR I found the graphics to be very dated and the animations stiff and uninspired.

Increased forum and server activity in AoC post Patch 2.0 Introduction
General Discussion « Age of Conan 9/23/08 9:16:33 AM
The game is tanking and will continue to tank. Word is already out on what a failure the game is and there isn't any one patch going to fix its many overwhelming issues. Sure it's nice they're finally getting around to doing stuff that should have been done before the game was even released. It's all too little too late for most and despite your grand hopes there isn't going to be a resurgence in population. We've moved on.

Your rating is just a personal opinion. If I had to rate AOC I'd give it maybe a 2. My computer is a hog and very well tuned. One day it would run ok the next i'm crashing like a dog every 20 minutes. Deleting shader caches and doing everything possible to stabilize the game on your system is the real game. The PVP sucks. Gankfest and spawncamping nightmare. The PVE is sparse after level 52 and virtually non existent at level 80. Basically it's farking boring. Nice graphics do not make a game. Lastly the game has tanked so hardcore servers are ghost towns.
