Think you got a bit too many zeros there fella.  40000 is a more accurate number.  Servers are stone cold dead...  Some are so bad there's like 8 people on the ENTIRE server.

400k Was what they claimed months ago...  Even then they should have been embarassed because it means out of their 1 million box sells less than half even stayed for the first month.  Like I said 400k months ago but not now and never will it go that high again.

OP-

You know man I saw posts like yours all around before buying the PRE-ORDER.  If I'd only listened....  If I'd only listened...  No way in hell did I think it was as bad as the BETA testers were claiming.  Then it turned out to be worse than I ever imagined, lol...

Yeah I owe you people who tried to warn us all an apology.  I apologize sincerly.

Bioware is the only major studion currently working on a MMORPG.. and Bioware has always had a good track record of delaying things until they are finished ( " When it's finished").    I think the lesson that coulld have been learned by Funcom isn't going to impact the future because of the lack of new games.

Warhammer is going to slip to the 200k subscriber level, then you will have a bunch of games like AOC that will have 50k-100k.. and then WOW at 11M.    Bioware is the only question mark.  It's a great company using a popular IP ( Star wars).

Bioware kicks ass...  They are like Valve.  If it takes 10 years to get the game right they take 10 years.  But niether one will release a product as flawed as AOC.  Just no way...

If there's any MMO I'm stoked about it is the KOTOR MMORPG from BIOWARE.  I played KOTOR 1 & 2 through probably 50 times.  Then there's Jade Empire very amazing game.  Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights.  Even Mass Effect was good.

Unlike Funcom I have faith in Bioware and bet your sweet ass I'll be preordering their MMO.

Maybe one day these companies will realize how important word of mouth is in the gaming world.Just reading the WAR forums I can see they're already screwing up...  When people start saying it's AOC all over again that's terrible, lol.  I played the preview weekend and absolutely hated it.  Guess I wasn't alone.

Bioware, Valve, Blizzard, Turbine.

I buy almost everything they put out because they deliver quality products.

Hell I quit WOW in April but preordered the cheapie WOTLK already.  I know I'll get my 40 bucks worth- take my geared rogue to 80 and probably quit again.  Then I'll probably buy Diablo3 as well.  Blizz will get my business because they never screwed me over or lied to me.

Turbine is totally underrated.  They'd been big if they only knew how to advertise on the level of an AOC.  They deliver quality I even bought a lifetime membership to LOTRO.  Which is something AMAZING for me to do.  They deliver such a quality product it was well worth the investment and they only keep making the game better.  If Turbine had headed AOC it would have been something amazing.

Valve.  They aren't into MMO's but when you talk about great companies that make great games.  You can't help think of them.  Half Life Episode 3 WTF are ya!!  They are slow but never deliver bug infested crap or need to lie to sell their games.

I agree with you.

Seems most developers these days are just phoning it in.  Unfortunately they won't learn...  AOC isn't the first failure with such promise and won't be the last.

Doubt they'll go out of business though.  If anything they'd sell off AOC to another company.  Ever hear that saying 'The bad never die' seems to go for games too.  If Hellgate London, Asherons Call, Vanguard are still around.  Then this turd will linger around forever.

Think we all saw the potential for this game.  Then we saw it all blown.  Wasn't an easy thing to watch.

Sorry I already gave to this charity.

Those saying this is a troll you're wrong.  This same dude's on the EU forums begging people to buy 2 accounts and keep paying their subs even if they don't play.

Hard to believe people are so delusional.

Really almost makes me wonder if we're playing the same game or if some people haven't accidently downloaded the LOW RES version of LOTRO?

Because LOTRO graphics are far beyond Warhammers in every way shape and form.

The title of this thread should be Warhammer graphics very similar to Warcraft.  Because that's what I see.  When I played Warhammer I was having WoW flashbacks and felt like yelling 'FOR THE HORDE!"

AOC is just candy coated crap.  Graphics may have more pixels but they look like shit to me...  Armor that looks like hand me downs from bag ladies.  Horrible collision detection.  The first day I played AOC I got hung up on a cat and had to call a GM as the cat kept dragging me around I couldn't path out or do squat.  That was just the first day...

In AOC it looks as if they just threw trees anywhere they pleased with little to no planning.  Just look around at the design or lack there of.

The graphics may be high quality in AOC but it isn't like you can even explore or see them up close.  You stuck on these linear paths and confined by invisible walls.  In LOTRO you see a beautiful mountain in the distance you can walk to its peak.

LOTRO has thousands and thousands of quests.  AOC has probably 500 quests and I am being painfully generous.  Comparing the quality of AOC quests to LOTRO is really laughable and makes me question if you've even played the game.

I've read plenty of Howard the entirety of AOC is just a loose reference to some of his works of which there are many.  LOTRO is going through the entire 3 book trilogy and staying as strictly to the books as humanly possible.  There's a difference.

But this thread really makes me scratch my head...  Warhammer has very dated graphics circa 2003.  LOTRO is close to AOC in pixels but trumps it in style...

You walk past a tree in Breeland and scare a flock of birds into the sky that fly off into the distance...  You're walking in the Shire and see a rainbow after a recent rain and many touches like this make LOTRO.

Anyway off to go get my Harvestmath horse from the Harvestmath festival.  Wonder what they're doing over at AOC for holidays, OH THAT'S RIGHT they don't have events all year like LOTRO.  Guess why throw a holiday if nobody is going to show up.  Ghost servers don't need events.

Hi dudes,

I'm playing AoC at the moment and although i'm enjoying playing i can't help wonder what Warhammer is like ?

The only problem with AoC is the seems tobe a lack of players on my server, due to imo early release and alot of bugs alot of people have left, even though i think the grapics and combat system is at the highest quality.

So while the game has a low comunity on my server i was wondering if War was worth a go ?

I do belive that AoC will survive it has the WoW factor.

He's dead Jim.

Well you probably must still be in Tortage?  Savor those first 20 levels.  Once you get off newb island it's all down hill from there.

Probably should start looking for another game as the AOC juice will run dry for you soon enough.

Warhammer has a WoW factor alright.  It's so similar to Warcraft I was having WoW flashbacks.

Personally I hated the animations and graphics.  They look extremely dated to me...  Everyone looks alike and walk as if they recently participated in a jailhouse gangbang.

What they have going for them is it's relatively low on bugs and a huge cult following due to the tabletop miniatures.  Really the game is for the diehard Warhammer fans.  Many people will try it though because they haven't bastardized their name among the gaming community.  Some will stay but many more will most likely leave for greener fields.

Sucks but is still far superior to AOC.  It's WoW without 4 years of polish.

Wait for free trials or request a buddy key on the War forums.  That's honestly the only way to know for yourself.  Everyone's opinion really is a grain of salt when it comes to games.

Yes the PVP patch brought in PVP and that was a lot of work no doubt, but that took approximately 2 months with NO substantial patches in between. All bug fixes and tweaks were also held back until the PVP patch was so big in the patch notes, it made it look awesome. Which when the you consider that the list was an accumulation of several patches into one, it wasn't that awesome. Though the changes were definately needed.

How much work does it take to turn on an existing PVP system halfway?  The PVP system has existed since BETA but they turned it off right before launch.  It took them 4 months to get the PVP patch IN.  Not 2 months...  It was 2 months since they had released a patch prior to the PVP one.  Even then the first 2 months of patches were just utter bullshit and fixed nothing and introduced more bugs.

It doesn't matter if you're a CURRENT player or someone who quit because they haven't made any changes that matter.

You're asking from honesty from current players...and frankly the only people left playing AOC are the rabid fanboys who'll sugarcoat the situation...

Do you think such distain for a game and negative posts by the thousands are unwarranted?  All these pissed off people just got together one day and said 'HEY!  Let's go trash AOC!!'  We only spent 60-100 bucks on the game.  Read what they're saying...

People have outlined repeatedly the issues.  Not sure what you mean by 'ACTUAL ISSUES' as most people's ISSUES have to deal with broken, missing content which include crafting, stats, feats, quests, items, instances, and exploits abound.

There's not enough content to get you to 80 without grinding.  By 53 I was totally out of quests until 60 and even then there's maybe 15 quests from 60-80.  Many bugged quests which left what little content there was unable to finish.

The only real change is they turned on the PVP system halfway.  It's been in the game since BETA so it isn't like they actually coded anything.  They turned on the PVP experience and didn't turn on the penalty system.  So basically high levelers can run roughshot over lowbies without fear.  This has been happening anyway because level 80's are bored to tears and ganking lowlevelers is their only fun.

Now with the PVP experience on.  Guilds just unguild themself and kill each other in a circle jerk for PVP experience.  When they get maxed exp for the day they go run in the only level 70-80 area there is in the game.  People can't even quest now in the 70-80 zone because it's full of guilds(usually 1 guild) putting the area on lockdown and resurrection camping you.

The armor of which there was suppose to be 1500 sets.  Well there aren't 1500 sets...  Everyone looks the same.  What armor is around is bland uninspired trash.  My level 20 barbarian looked almost identical to my level 80 barbarian.  Which looked just like every other barbarian in the game.  Even the PVP gear is just restatted lower level dungeon gear.

Stats and feats of which the majority are broken or aren't functioning.  Which leads back to gear.  If stats don't do a thing then gear is pan amount to worthless.  People are left without any gear goals because gear basically does nothing.

Much was promised at launch that isn't in the game and is nowhere on Funcom's agenda.

A complete PVP system.  Drunken brawling.  Mercenary system.  Kingship  DirectX10, etc...

Just watch ANY Hyborian insider especially the ones PRIOR to the games launch.  They were suppose to be insights into the game and what we should expect.  Basically they're blatant lies.  Especially the Insider released RIGHT before the games launch.  People were misled and they're pissed.

You say you play LOTRO and think that game funnels you??????

LOTRO is probably the most expansive MMORPG around.  You see the top of the Misty Mountains a mile away you can go to that peak.  You can take shortcuts through zones...  So not sure what exactly you mean by funneling as LOTRO doesn't funnel players in any way shape or form.

You want to see funneling go ahead and buy AOC.  You see that mountain way in the distance.  You can't go there.  Invisible walls all throughout the game- you're walking then BOOM invisible wall.

If you do not take the EXACT path/trail through the zone then there is NO OTHER way to where you want to go.  There are no shortcuts and you are relegated to walking the same roads over and over and over.  This is one of the LARGEST complaints about AOC.  Might as well forget any exploration.  On top of that EVERY single zone and area is an instance...Hope you like loading screens.

You seem bound and determined to try the thing.  So I say go ahead.  I can warn only so many people that the bridge is out but they keep on driving.  Sure go ahead and buy it if you have money and time to throw away.  Not my money they already ripped me off.

Well you might as well get use to it now.

Because once you leave newbie island there's no voice acting at all.

Maybe if you play through without voices now it won't be such a shock to your system.  You're going to be in for a shock anyway and not the good kind ;)

I was out and about yesterday and I spootted a AoC Time Card in Pc World, so I thought what the heck I want to see if anythings changed and to be fair the performance has increase ten fold the game now runs for me on full settings and is quite smooth.

However I was shocked to see some of the most annoying bugs were still there CTD especially also the game was still freezing up for me at regular intervals. Anyhow I do have 60 days now to check it out a little more and see if things improve.

Since you like to throw money away.  I'll take some

You see that's part of the deal.  The most obvious.  The most blatant bugs are stepped around by the Fanboys and Funcon like they don't even exist.

Lets just throw out a PVP patch and see if everyone forgets about all the other broken issues and lack of content.

Their other game AO STILL have these same bugs 7 years after the game's release.  You really think they're going to fix them in months for AOC?

Many places they literally COPY & PASTED AO code into AOC bugs and all.  Sometimes they didn't even bother changing text and people in AOC are like WTF is a nanobot????

It's like something year 1 coders would try...  Just baffling.

There are a load of negative posts about warhammer on the forums for conan yet i really can't understand why.(moderated i guess)

Arround 60 of us left conan and are having a blast in war and to be honest we can't understand why anyone is left playing conan.

It might not have the gfx of conan but as a whole its a much better mmo, what do you lot think?.

I play AoC, we actually got quite a few players back in my guild already of those who left for WAR but we are a PvE server so it is probably very different with the PvPer.

As for why some bash WAR, so do many WAR players bash AoC also, it is just immaturity. But it depends on what you call bashing, if someone said they didn't like it it really ain't bashing, troll posts that it's totaly crap is.

I don't think it's a better game but my taste and your's isn't the same. I like EQ2 and not wow also, and Tori Amos not Christina aguilera. Not a problem either some of my close friends play WAR and we never argued about which game that is best because a question like that really have no right answer.

Which game that have best Fps on a certain computer or have highest textures, those have right answers

Maybe I'm just picky.  But I disliked both games but for different reasons.

Funcon promised and hyped a game that never existed.  They created videos for their official Hyborian Insider using graphics not even in the retail game.  Everything they show the press and public then and now are in DirectX10 while DX10 has never been available in the retail game.

They lied and lied and lied about features that didn't even exist.  IE: Mercenary system, drunken brawling, Kingship, apartments, blood money, brothels, 1500 armor sets, etc... etc...

I may not like WAR either but at least I have respect for them and hope they stomp the shit out of AOC.

WAR may have shitty graphics, stiff modeling, and be just as boring as AOC.  At least they're honest.

Mythic may be lots of things but at least they are honest.  I preordered they let me try the PREVIEW weekend after which I promptly cancelled.  No hard feelings.  At least they didn't have to lie their balls off to sell as many copies as AOC.

So has there been any official talk of a "come back campaign"? You know where all the accounts of those who left and reactivated for a certain period of time. Has AoC reached a point where this would be a good idea to try to let people know that the issues they left over are better?

Im going to level with you. The game has improved in many different area's. However, there is still lack of things to do at level 80, apart from PvP Levels, Siege, Raid and finish crafting up. This should be allieviated in the next few months by additional content being added.

The lasted PvP patch will get you working on PvP levels to try out new gear and that will last a while do to exp gaps (not an overnight job) and the second part of this update is coming most likely in the next few weeks ( Murder System ) which should put a diff spin on things and worth a look imo. If your not interested in these two area's and just a PvE'r and don't like the above, then wait for some more content, it won't be long.

In other words.  It's going to take them a long long time to get the game where it should have been at release.

Where I wager they will never get the game up to par.

They implemented ONE thing in 4 months.  A PVP system that's been in place since BETA but never turned on.  Now it's half turned on without even the penalties for killing lowbies active.  Totally amatuer system.

So they put ONE thing in the game that was suppose to be there in the beginning?  Yay?

They renamed armor from lower level dungeons call it PVP armor, give them screwed stats for their class. IE: + wisdom for barbarian.  Yay?

They left PVE content broken and anyone who doesn't PVP has got NOTHING in 4 months.  Yay?

Crafting...  You got some huge balls to even bring up crafting.  It's a broken shambles with no goals at all or reason to level up your profession.  Lower level gear is 100X better than crafted gear now after the gigantic nerfs.  Not to mention they all look like dumpster rags.

They fixed a few glaring bugs that should have been ironed out long before release.  Yay?

While they fixed some bugs they introduced even more bugs.  Yay?

They may have a new game director but they still have the same coders who can't  code their way out of a box.  Yay?

You see a future for this game but the majority of us do not.  Like thousands of others I won't ever give Funcon another dime or even glance at another one of their games.

They'd basically have to recode the entire game to get it to what most people expect from an MMORPG.

There's no trial atm, and I'm not sure when there will be one. I'm sure there will be one eventually though.
As for a cd key, I'm sure that one of the good people here can give you one. I gave mine to someone already or I would hook you up. Be aware though that there is a charge to download the game, unless you know someone who has the game cds. (Which you probably don't or you wuold have a cd key already.)
I don't remember what the fee to download it is, either 1.99 or 2.99.

I understand the need of buddy keys to protect servers from too much load but hey, subscriber numbers dropped by half now. It would be the best time to open game for trial accounts.

Unfortunately you can't even ask on AoC forums unless you purchase the game :-/

I have no issue with paying small fee, just spending my time on looking for trial key is not going well with my nature, I rather wait or just forget about the game.

Man...  You made me spit coffee on my monitor.

Uhh server load isn't the issue my friend.  Even at launch there were plenty of servers and now that the majority of servers are empty.  Well lets just say load isn't the issue.

They don't offer a free trial because they know anyone who tries the trial will never subscribe.  Once they see the empty servers, broken stats, broken this or that.  They want you to buy the game or charge a download fee so they at least make something off you.

People who bought the game were suppose to get X amount of buddy keys.  They even scammed us on that.  You have to have an active account to give one away and then they hit your buddy with a 3$ fee.

Shady operation,

Be wary of giving your credit card info too because they notoriously will charge people for extra months or whatever they feel like.

You don't need XFIRE to go onto most AOC servers and see that they are complete ghost towns.

That's pretty much the bottom line right there.

I think aoc is fun, fairly stable and i don't feel i have a lack of things to do, but then again i don't race to lvl 80 in a week then whine about lack of content.

I had to use customer service once so far about preorder issues and they resolved it, took a while but it wasn't a gamebreaking issue but they fixed it and it works fine now.

As for the computer reqs on aoc i haven't changed anything on my computer and it runs fine in 1680*1050 res with high detail on and my computer is roughly a year old.

Well good for you then.

It still doesn't change the fact the game still runs like crap on many systems that far exceed the minimum requirements.

Quad processors and Quad Sli, 6 gigs of memory and I was crashing every 20 minutes.  While every other game I own runs perfectly?  While my system has all the latest drivers and nothing running but AOC?  Even rolling back drivers and trying old ones to get the POS from crashing?

I'm glad that crappy code is stable on your system but it isn't stable on many others.

The game is 4 months OLD now.  That's a lifetime in gaming years,  Anyone who isn't level 80 who started at Early Access or have 2 level 80's must just be standing still watching the scenery.  You can't play this game and NOT level unless you're doing nothing at all.  Probably the easiest MMORPG on the market today.  Erling even said so HIMSELF leveling was made EASY so people could enjoy the end game content of sieging.  Too bad sieges were broke and probably still are and raids were broken and exploited.  Leaving most of us with NOTHING to do.

Just because you level at a snails pace doesn't mean we're all suppose to be like you.  I read every quest and tried to savor every moment and took my time.  Takes about 40 hours of gameplay to reach 80.  Not that damn hard.

So they release the most BASIC PVP system ever invented and people are suppose to praise them for that?

Praise them for something promised to be in the game at release?

Praise them for renaming old armor sets and calling them PVP armor?

Praise them for waiting 4 months for this????

What have they done in 4 months?

HALF Turned on a PVP system that the codes been there since Beta?  Fix a couple of bugs while introducing more than they fix?  Yep that's about it....

That picture of all the armors laid out from 20-80 still holds true.  You guys say 'YEAH DUDE DURR IT'S REALISTIC"  Then explain to me the 1500 armor sets that didn't look like dog shit they still haven't even put in the game yet?  Just more lies from Funcon.  Do they even exist?  Probably not.

How has this meager PVP patch done ANYTHING for the PVE aspect of the game?   The Raid instances are still broken, crafting is a disaster, UI is a disaster, Guild structure a disaster.  Many broken and bugged quests still there.  Such a lack of quests and content you're forced to run Villas hundreds of times to level or just grind mobs and be happy?

It's a hollow shell with just enough BASICS to call it an MMORPG.

The things that were SUPPOSE to be in the game already still aren't there and have magically disappeared from Funcon's agenda.

Where's the Mercenary system?  Where's my Drunken brawling?  Where's my DirectX10?  Where's the highly complex PVP system that was suppose to impact stats, ranks, titles, and awesome gear?  Where's the game they advertised I'd love to know.

The game is dead and will continue to die.  It will die just on word of mouth alone.  Go to anywhere it talks about AOC and it's easy to see Funcon pissed off LOTS of people myself included.  We're pissed and rightfully so.  Bait and switch tactics on hundreds of thousands of gamers is a bad bad move.  Their reputation is SHOT.

There's nothing they can do to lure anybody back unless they offer free game time which they never will.  They're just too greedy to make any decent decisions.  Every decision they make seems to be based on greed and a mad scramble to keep subscribers at this point.

They threw together a crappy PVP system to keep a few of the subscribers left.  Yay for them?

Give credit where it is due.  They don't deserve credit or praise for things that should have been ironed out in BETA.

Don't play AOC unless they offer a FREE trial one day.  Then you can see for yourself what a disaster it is without WASTING your money like so many of us did.

I've bought some terrible games in the past but never felt ripped off and lied too before until I bought Age of Conman.

This Orion dude is trying to lure unsuspecting people into this craptastic game because they're DESPERATE for players on their deserted servers.  Just look at his post history it's ALL PRO conan crap.  Make your own judgement- paid for employee or...?

They killed it alright.  Killed it dead.

Always sad... and always a reminder there's a real human being behind the text or avatar.

I'd love to see a western based MMORPG based in the Wild West.

As long as you have conflict.  You can have an MMO, lol.  Just my humble opinion.

Be it Lord of the Rings where humans fight orc and goblins, or WOW where it is Alliance vs Horde.

In a Western of course I'd expect Cowboys vs Indians.  In fact that'd make a great simple title :D

Who wouldn't love to live the life of an outlaw...  Or be part of an Indian raid...  Sounds fun to me and the possibilities are endless.
