The funny thing is that most people who still follow this are the same people that left Dark and Light after it exploded. These people are gluttons for punishment. |

Originally posted by ferghal That's what the official forums are for. For the fanboys. Fanboys don't belong here if they can't handle truth that paints a less than rosy picture of their beloved project. This place allows for both sides of a discussion. Not just "Darkfall has more features than World of Warcraft because I said so and I want it to be like that so it must be!" I've never seen such blatent stupidity that this project has surrounding it in my life. |

Originally posted by JackArbiter No sorry but they did not borrow 20 million Euros last year. They issued a convertible bond loan to try and sell convertible bonds. Do you even know what that is? Obviously not. It means you place up bonds for purchase, of course people have to actually "BUY" your bonds first. They DID NOT get any kind a money loan. If you had any interest in "FACTS" and "TRUTH" rather than living in your Darkfall dream world for the last 7 years you would of known that already. Yes I am "Fail Troll" because I pointed out the obvious uphill battle that this thing is going to face IF it ever actually sees the light of day. Hilarious. Which is still HEAVILY in question 3 months before it's supposed to launch.. The only failure I see here is you for pulling numbers straight out of your ass and trying to pass it off as fact when in reality there is nothing anywhere that says how much Aventurine spent on developing this. Are you seriously that hung up over this thing that you turn a blind eye to ANYTHING that points out it's tons of faults? Heres a REALITY CHECK: This game has yet to show that 95% of it's feature list even EXISTS and it's launching in 3 months? Not even at this point has any credible editor even played this game or been invited to play and report on it publically. I wonder why??? I mean damn.. if it's so freakin A-mazing you would think that they would have every editor and gaming mag reporting on it 24/7 this close to a launch. I see no pre launch hype.. all I see is more bullshit from the fanboys and the same from the devs. |

Alot more faith then i get from anyone on this thread or on this site that's calling out for cautions concerning the feature list. Cautions based on what?=) Cautions based on the fact that only new and worthwhile video ever released of this game over 7 years shows nothing more than a generic combat system and the same stuff they have been showing for the past 7 years in other shorter video clips? Have a nice one

I am not assuming a lot. My assumptions are more valid than a fanboy who comes along and says this game HAS more features than WoW. How ridiculous is that? The *FACT* of the matter is this game has not demonstrated that 90% of it's intended features are even THERE. The last video showed nothing more than the same stuff they showed years back only the video was longer with a few more locations. But it was basically nothing new. |

Darkfall feature list, its a long one so i suggest you get some coffee - www.forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=43318 Long enough for you? + all the features unknown by now. Have a nice day I see. So I am assuming you have actually seen all these features in the game? And actually working as intended?

Just because I don't play MMORPG's NOW does not mean I haven't before. i've been playing MMORPG's and have played every major one since Asheron's Call 1. |

Really? In what way? I think you see this game based on what you WANT IT TO BE rather than what IT REALLY IS which is nothing more than a glorified Shadowbane clone based on ideas from Ultima Online and Asheron's Call 1 seven + years ago. Take a look at where Shadowbane and AC1 are right now. |

Pure speculation on your part. There is no doubt that it'll have a hard time competing with such a relatively small budget but saying Darkfall will fail miserably is stupid to say the least. The game has been in production for years so a significant amount of money has gone into making sure everything at launch will be solid. It is far more feature rich than a game like WoW where it's the same shit over and over again.
Who's speculating now Mr Fanboy? At least my "speculation" is backed up by common sense thinking and comments from industry veterans. |

"As feature rich as Wow"? you don't have a clue.. wow has nowhere near as many features.. Thanks for demonstrating my point and how laughable this game truly is. When DFO hits you like a truckload, you will create another alt here on mmorpg.com and hide in shame, it is good that DFO went with SCS so cowards like you cannot make an alt and hide. and your basis this on WHAT EXACTLY. This game has ye to prove that 99% of it's features are even there and playable 3 months away from a commercial launch How funny is that?

I don't play WoW. Thanks anyway. I don't play any MMORPG's in fact. (assuming that this game even gets out a public Beta period without having to deal with hundreds fo bugs and issues that keep it from launching for another 2 years) this is exactly what's going to happen: There will be lots of people jumping into the free test period to see what's up. They may even get lots of players off the bat. Then after about a month the people that din't like it will be long gone and will never look back. Then a little while after that when the "newness" starts to wear off and the people that get tired of the mindless repetative combat will also leave and never look back. At about 6 months the player base will be no more than a few thousand accounts and in a years time the game will either go Free to play or shut down completely. |

But Jacobs also believes that an independent studio like Mythic was in 2001 would not have that same ability in today's MMO market. Now, his company has the considerable backing of new owner Electronic Arts -- and those kinds of resources are necessary to compete in a post-WoW world, he says.
"Back in 2001, you didn't have to spend anywhere near the amount of money you do on an MMO now," he points out. "Look at what we spent on Camelot: $2.5 million developing it, $650,000 in marketing it. You couldn't spend that on a triple-A MMO now if your life depended on it! You just couldn't! It would get you nothing in terms of content."
For that reason, Jacobs sees a hard road ahead for smaller companies like Funcom, which earlier this year launched Age of Conan. So Funcom is considered a "small" company. Haha Than what does that make Aventurine? A company full of complete amateur developers who have never launched a single product on the market that anyone knows of let alone a MMORPG that is (on paper) supposed to be as feature rich as Wow? (ya right) |
