Agreed with most of what you said. I beta tested as well, and found that there was a lack of mobs. The client gets random lag spikes b/c of debug mode, but I still can get plenty of players on my screen at one time no problem.
Melee requires stamina far too much, though the combat system still owns WoW and all the current MMOs. PvP is awesome, with random skirmishes, battles, and duels. The world allows for traps and ambushes, as night time is...creepy, in a cool way. Ground clutter, rocks, and trees provide great terrain with which to hide behind
Graphics-wise, it has its moments. Some parts are pretty crappy, and some are spectacular, almost as good as AoC (only a few, but still). They haven't enabled the 'high' settings for graphics yet, though, so it could be a lot better. I never get lag due to players, terrain/environment, or other such things, but only every now and then with some lag spikes (may have to do with debug mode, not sure).
There actually are group encounters, depending on where you go, and wildlife. I was up in Niflheim and saw some polar bears, and down in Mercia, Black Knights and Greater Belows require groups to farm, and they drop good 'beginner' gear (don't think anyone has really got any end-game gear yet). Aventurine says they just haven't enabled all the mobs/NPCs, so unless they somehow have a big patch this weekend, the lack of mobs will be there at launch (or rather, the mobs wont be there).
Ah, yes, I almost forgot--Mirdain and Alfar females have biggest advantage in the game, since they have smallest hitboxes. Mahirim and Orks are massive, same with Dwarves. |

But it is obvious from even your own list that you are bending over backwards to apologize for this game, and the end product is not what was expected. ...
The world is as big, its running in Debugmode so its laggy (and even then, barely, I;ve have tons of players on my screen without any lag whatsoever, and perhaps they'll have a free trial when it actually releases?
Its not vaporware in the least. All of the features are there, just maybe not as we expected. the world is empty b/c for some odd reason, not all NPCs are enabled yet. Those that are are pretty cool and far superior to any current MMO's.
And anyway, every MMO that released needed to be polished and updated. The game has teh foundations layed out, but needs to be fixed a bit. I'll admit, some features are sort of broken, like alignment (easily exploited) and sieges (time window is too small), but core features are still there, and thats what matters.
And I can say this, as I myself beta tested. Call me a liar if you want, NDA is lifted now. |

They are certainly not oblivion, but can be turned up to look quite good. All screenshots and videos are taken at medium setting. |
|

The correct answer is: They are still stress testing queue times, patching, connections, pings, mobs, assorted AI, bugs/glitches/exploits, and a few other things. Hence, closed beta for the features they are still implementing and fixing. |

I believe DF will come out. And I think it will most certainly be good. But better games shall be made. I am not a die-hard fanboy, but I do have faith in Aventurine. |

None. Not a fanboy, but not a skeptic or hater. I think it will come out and be good, at least for a while, but it most certainly will not be the best game ever. There will be better games made in time. It will probably be the best MMO made so far though... |

I have nothing against people who join late, just when they ask stupid questions without using search, or even reading a recent (Curse, MMORPG Italia, anything) article. Forumfall is pretty crazy, I will admit, though makes for good laughs quite a bit.
If you don't like teh community, then go kill them in-game? I know a ton of people who have large guilds, but most of the members don't even post on the forums. Seriously though, don't cry about a bunch of nutjobs waiting around on Forumfall. Just go kick their ass in-game, then see how internet-tough they are. |

The melee players can dodge spells and arrows, if they're fast enough. They could wear light armour and catch up to the archer, then beat him with a strong weapon. The archer actually has to aim, so he could miss and lose time. Its difficult to run and shoot at the same time, same with spells. You can run out of arrows and mana--the other guy can catch up and just swing a mace in your face. |

Originally posted by Dameonk The only problem with your statement is that the other MMO games that have only stress tested for a week have a lot of server/connection/lag issues. You also have to remember that is AFTER those games have been in closed beta for months if not a year or more. For example: WAR was in closed beta for over a year, Open beta for a few weeks. Then when the game was released the In-game mail system broke because of all of the people trying to use it. What makes Darkfall so special that something similar couldn't happen?
A week should be long enough to test all of that. Ask for people to use the mail system, use chat, use the things that stress servers, etc. Many people want DF to be successful and will gladly take a couple of minutes from beta time to go ahead and do that. Most of the arguments against no beta was that "oh, they wont stress the servers". I merely addressed that by saying it only takes a week or so, which it does. For mail, etc, we'll see.
And yes, I am aware my sig is outdated, but thats why I have it. I just roll that way. |

They have talked about dig dl before, and that the price will most likely be 15 bucks USD. |

Aventurine WANTS hybrids, not cookie cutter skill sets. There will always be cookie cutters, but many people enjoy originality and experimenting with skill sets until they have the playstyle that fits them. So the argument of "wizard...bla bla bla" is null. |

Apparently, having a month for public beta where they can stress servers isn't enough, according to the haters/doubters...interesting.
1 beta? Who gives. When they stress servers, which really only takes like 1 week, even a couple of days, then we'll see.
There are morons in all games, released or not released. Congratz, so you got two quotes from blind fanboys. |

How is that talking out of the side of your mouth? If you intend to specialize in magery, than of course you would need to learn LESSER power before GREATER power. There will also be plenty of hybrids. A few abilities will be needed before gaining access to others "Oh look, I can can cast such powerful spells, but not those simple ones"? Kind of logical. |

How are they testing the Server Strength with so few players?

They still have a month for public beta, where they can then stress servers?

There have been leaks, but hastily cleaned up. There was a screenshot where some names of beta testers could be seen, and some people checked Forumfall for anyone using that name and apparently a long term follower came up. So people who claim there are no leaks are just not fast enough to find them before they are...disposed of...or they just aren't looking hard enough.
Plus, if someone claimed to be from beta, they would need to supply screenshots and other such proof to show they were indeed in beta, since people have been faking it. |

Any guesses on when we will hear from Tasos about OPEN Beta?

I think that the devs just dont want a group of people sitting around in the main entrance killing people as they zone in. It is still possible to hold choke points, since its not like you will be dropped totally randomly "oh look, there is the boss! OMG!", but i think more in the sense that there is a maze of corridors/hallways/rooms that players spawn in, which all eventually lead up to the mobs and bosses, etc. |
