The doom-sayers are n00bs to MMO's, this is a BETTER game than WoW and isn't going to die.

The unbalance in EXP and Renown gained by classes is incredible. THis issue has already destroyed scenarios since dps classes are going solo getting alot more renown than tanks and healers. What is Mythic doing ? Nothing. (posted by Frobner)
Guess you havn't read todays patch notes... one is they upped the renoun gained by healers. I havn't heard about tanks complaining about renoun. I'm not saying they havn't, just I havn't heard it. Another fix was they added experience to objectives. So are far as your comment about doing nothin.... Also I agree with a post made earlier.. the game is only one month old. No MMO has ever released a major patch in the first month. I can't think of one that did after two months.. though I am not saying that it hasn't happened. And Mythic said the major content changes and fixes will be coming with the patch in Dec I think it was. Along with some of the classes that got cut at launch. So seems like they are doing something, people just have to give them the time to do it. |

I always love reading the doom-sayers and their posts. Here is a little information for all you doom-sayers of games. 1. No game has ever launched without problems. There is no way a company can foresee problems with a live game untill it goes live. Sure they can get it down to a minimal amout. But you don't know how a car runs till you drive it down the road as to say. 2. Most MMO companies have always worked the problems out given a little time. 3. Some of the worst games are still online. I can think of one that got so many bad posts and went down as the only MMO that lost 3/4 of it's subscribers the first month. But it is still there... 4. If you pesonally like a game, you will play it no matter what others say. So why even waste time making negative posts about a game you don't like and go find one you do like. 5. Every game comes down to what you want out of a game. There are games out there for everyone of all age groups. (One of the meanest PvP players I ever seen was an 82 year old woman. I loved going alongside killing people with her) 6. For you forum trolls who never even play a game. And for those who post on games you havn't played. How can you make a comment on something you havn't even done? That is like me saying I don't like pizza when I have never eaten one. (hehe I love pizza) 7. Every game has population ups and downs. 8. When a game first launches there is an imbalance of zones. This is due because... opps there are only 10 people on this server who are level 30. When a game first launches this happens. The hardcore 300 hour a week gamers are up near the top and the weekenders are still back at the begining. And hardly anyone is in between. It will balance out after awhile. 9. Get your facts before you post. Nothing more embarrasing than making a post and not having your facts right. Know what your are posting about before you post. (All the things in this post I searched up and also know from experience). Don't embarras yourself. There you have it. Some true facts about gaming. Instead of doom-saying and negative posts spend that time finding a game you like. People who like a game will play no matter what you say. Reminds me of the top "10 worst things a gamer could hear" list. (don't remember where I seen it). But one of them was SOE just took over your game. Even I know that SOE has bad karma with most gamers. But they still have their games and enough players to keep them going... |

It does come down to personal preference. I hate WOW. I like WAR. WOW does not give me what I want in a game. WAR does.

General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/29/08 9:42:32 AM
All through development and all the way up to launch, Mythic said the whole time that this was a RvR based game. It's all about the PvP. That is why there are only 4 collecting skills and just 2 crafting skills and they are just basic ones at that. They said the main goal was not about crafting or questing, but PvP. And that means most people are going to be about the scenarios and open RvR. I am not saying anything bad about you or what you are saying. I just wanted to note that WAR is all about RvR. If you are more into the PvE and Questing then purhaps this is not the game for you. Do not feel bad about it. I do not play WOW cause it is all about the PvE and Questing until you hit max level then it's all about dungeons over and over and over, to get your legendary gear. If you do not like a game, go find one you do. No sense in making a post with all the things you do not like about it. WAR is about RvR. It's been about that ever since it went into development. I personally loved the news conference they had and one of the people in the crowd asked. "What about crafting in the game". Here was the response lol. "Crafting???! THIS IS WAR!! Not Crafthammer!. Sure we'll throw a little crafting in there, but this game is all about RvR war, bashing and maiming your enemy" |

Obviously you did no research before you spoke. Atheism is a religion, so stated by themselves and the Charter when Atheism was founded. Their belief is that there is no Scientific Proof of the existance of God. However, it also states in the charter that ANY religion that shows Scientific Proof of the existance of God, that Atheist will convert and follow that religion. I urge you to look it up. Also the charter was filed with the government as a Church charter. How do I know this? I am a multi-denominational minister. I am one of the ministers that represent the Atheist, the Pagan, the Naturalist, and many more. Yes I went to colledge and practiced many years before I even took up any ministeral duties. Btw, I never mentioned the civil contract part. Yup you have to go to the courthouse and get a liscense. However, that is not the ceremony. It is just a one of the many ways the government uses for income. Pretty much the same as having to get a permit to have a garage sale or a revival in most places. Even if they change the civil contract they still are in the wrong. It would be the same as saying you can have a permit if you live on the east side of town, but no one else can. All I have been describing is that the government can put no restrictions on marriage. It's not about if marriage is religous or not. It's about belief. Some religions believe in same sex marriage and some do not. So does the government hinder some religions or do they get the very freedom this country was founded on? If the government puts in a law that hinders ANY religion then they have gone against the Freedom of Religion that the founders of the country came here for. Check that out if you like also. |

Originally posted by Dekron As I have said previously, I am neither against, nor for gay marriage. I do not care either way. But, is there not a line to be drawn somewhere? Someone already posted that once marriage is "redefined" it will be done so again and again for every group who wants to push the bounds. Mormons will push for polygamy. Muslims will push for marrying children. Zoophiliacs will want to marry an animal. Where does it end? Sorry this will be a tad long, but something I have been following since the start. I am not gay, nor do I support any group nor the government. I am just posting my view. I don't think it's a point of where does it end.... Is marriage part of a religion?... how about this... All religions have their view on marriage. Sure some a real close, but each is different in some way. Even if it is just a specific line that must be spoken. There are religions out there that believe in same sex marriage. There are some that do not. No matter what the government does they do wrong either way in this matter. But the issue should come down to this. Freedom of Religion. That is the very foundation this country was built on, and the very reason the settlers came to America. Check it out if you like. If the government sets policy on how you can or can not marry, then they are setting policy for some religions. If any religious group believes in same sex marriage and the government says you can not do that, then the government is setting religious policy and not government policy. Sure there is no win-win here for anyone. The thing is, does the government follow the Bill of Rights and say marriage is up to your religion? Or do they say, you can only marry this way and endorse a particular religion. (yup, i said endorse. Because if they say no same sex marriage then they are endorsing all the religions (especially Christians) who are fighting to get same sex marriage banned. It also means they are saying that the religions that believe in it are wrong.) Now for all those who say is this religious or not.... here ya go.. EVERYONE is part of some religion. Even Atheists is a religion. Naturalist, Pagan, Christian, Judas, Morman, Muslum, are just a few more. But everyone is part of one. Whatever you believe there is a religous classification you fit in. If you are Christian, even though you do not go to church or activly attend or participate, you will want a Christian marriage when you get married. The same for everyone else. Also, even if you go to an independent person (justice of the peace, judge, private minister), you will get a religious ceremony. The traditional one usued mostly today in America is the Christian ceremony. And believe it or not, the second most used is the Pagan ceremony. But if you research them, they are all religious. And before you go to say anything... yes I have researched them. I studied religions in colledge. The thing is it comes down to this... It is a religious ceremony... now do we let the government set religious policy or do we follow what our country was founded for and get the religions their freedom? And remember Freedom of Religion means ALL religions.

The problem I have always had with this gay marriage dribble that people have had is this. Most of them say that the bible say it's an abomination and that is why they appose it in the first place. But the fact is that Christanity says it's an abomination and not all bibles or religions oppose gay marriage. The US has the "Seperation of Church and State". If anyone lets any religious policy influence them into making specific laws then there is no longer seperation of church and state. On the policy of gay marriage the state really has no basis for gettin involved. The only true reason any group or individual has given is invalid. "Protection of the sanctity of marriage"... WTH??? Are they saying that gay couples can not have a true marriage? Because I believe they can. Sanctity of a marriage is all about being true to each other. To love, honor, and cherish. I firmly believe gay couples can do this. And I have seen quite a few "normal" marriages that could not do this. Even though I am not gay or bi-sexual, I fully support gays having the right to marry. Not because of any other reason other than it is just right. We must keep the seperation of church and state. We must give rights to those who have them. Those who pass laws forbidding gay marriage are just letting the religious set policy for them. And anyone who does this needs to be put out of office. collision + lag/poor optimization= teleporting = ruining pvp ..
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/25/08 11:01:39 AM
I have had the same problem. But I find I only have it in the populated areas. It's a problem every game I have played at launch has had. But they always seem to iron it out. Star Wars Galaxies had it at launch, and WOW had it at launch also. Other games also had the problem at launch and it lasts a few weeks till they get it ironed out. I just try to remember that there is no way for a company to forsee every problem until after they launch. This just happens to be one of the problems all of them have. I am not a programmer nor an IT tech so I can not even begin to guess what causes it. Until I find out I just have to leave it to the professionals to fix it as soon as they can. Yep, I am a patient person. I just let them know my specs and what the problem is and give em time to fix it. I only get upset if the problem is never fixed. At that time I usually just leave the game for another. But I only ever had to do that once lol. |

You know, I myself have never seen or heard of a game that did not have issues at launch. Something is wrong. Does not matter what it is, but it's something. WOW had it. Star Wars Galaxies had it. And the list goes on and on. If you are an avid or "hard core" MMO gamer you know this. So my only question is... Why are people complaining? Would it not be far better to get as much information as possible to the DEV's so they can actually find and fix the problem sooner? (Just for you WOW people before you go pointing your flamethrower at me: I was a WOW alpha tester. I prolly have more 70's than you do. All I do is game. And yes, wow had major lag problems when it launched for months. And I remember seeing the same things on those forums when it first launched also. So please do not tell people how WOW never had this problem) I myself had these specs Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6000) (6000.vista_ldr.070828-1515) AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz Nvita GeForce 8800 650MB ram 3GB of ram Even with this machine I was gettin a small "lag spike". But I did some asking around, checked forums, and even let Mythic know of the problem. And I found an answer. RAM! So I upgraded to 6GB of ram and now the game runs smooth. Sure it should run smooth on less. But if you have been around awhile you will notice that each time a new game comes out it requires more than the one before. It is a simple fact. And it will continue to be that way. |

why did they have to copy wow's battlegrounds model?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/21/08 11:57:47 AM
Blizzard themselves had said they did not invent nothing new. They said they took the same thing from others and just make it more "flashy" and that is exactly what they did. Everything you see in wow you will find in other MMOs that were there before wow was even thought of. Wow didn't invent anything. They even said so. Go back and read all the media from when it was in development. So please do not say anyone has copied wow. All of you whom are wow fans.... just go back to wow. I won't say anthing about it... really. Because if you make this comment "They took the same thing from wow.....blah, blah...) then you are too hard core of a wow fan to change. And I am not saying that in a bad way so don't take it that way. I myself am a hardcore Warhammer fan. I have been playing it since the tabletop. (Yeah i am old, I accept it). And I have played WOW. Might even have more 70's than you do. (Tooooo many). However you will never hear me say that an MMO has taken something from another. I have no idea who started it. Hmm, that is a good question. What was the first MMO that had a battleground?... I know Earth and Beyond had one. And that was before Star Wars Galaxies, WOW, or even DAoC. Though I am sure there must have been one before that.

I think the game is for both the caual and avid gamer. You can quest. And there are plenty of them. They have public quest areas to where you can just "click" and join a public group, eliminating the need to ask to be grouped. The dungeons are broken down into 3 areas. It takes about an hour and a half on average. (depending on players and the size of the group) to do one section. You do not have to do all 3 areas at one time. you can do the first area tonight and the 2nd the next night if you wish. or all of them in one night. You do not even have to have the same group you started with. You enter a dungeon and you will see the other players there in that same dungeon. You can then join their group and continue on with them. Each dungeon is designed to be completable with a group of 6 people. I hope this helps you. Eckobah |

I see no where that I had said the combat system, RvR or other aspect was the same. In fact I didn't even mention the combat system. I was just trying to make a point. The point was that Mythic delivered on what they said they would and that all MMOs have a base. Crafting, Quests, and PvP. And obviously you missed the point. Yes they are different after that. The quests in WAR are far better just because of the storyline alone. The crafting isn't all that great, but they said that from the start. They never once said that crafting was going to be a major aspect of the game. The PvP and RvR are far better than WOW PvP. And since you missed the point i will tell you MY opinion of both WOW and Warhammer so that you know I have played them. WOW is cartoonish in graphics. Almost every quest you do is to go out and kill something or to collect something you have to kill. The storyline is not all that great and does not tie into other aspects of the game. The combat system does mimic some other MMOs and the battlegrounds are nothing more than just the same old repeat. Not to mention they only have 4 (or is it 5? I havn't played in a few months). WAR is more gruff graphics just as I exspected. It is focused on PvP and RvR unlike WOW and other MMOs. The storyline far exceeds other MMOs. There is a combat system that works with the PvP and RvR element of the game. And those even exceed other games.
And before you go stating fact. Make sure you get them first. I was just stating things in a simple way so people could understand. I was in WOW at Alpha and stayed until last year. I even went back for a while this year to see the changes they made. I also was there for the open beta and still am playing WAR. I personally love the game. So before you go flaming me, how about asking what I ment in a post. How about asking me a question or two before you assume what i mean or go to flame me. And above all, please give others that respect. People can say things different from others and still mean the same thing. They just say it in a different way. I was just trying to say it in a way that even someone new to MMOs could understand. But I guess that would make it hard for those whom have been playing for awhile. I appologize if i offended you or anyone (though I don't see where I did). However you have offended me by saying "This really not even a matter of opinion it is just sheer intellectualy laziness and close mindedness on their part." Not to mention you went on about the combat system and that wasn't even mentioned. By the way. Before you make a comment about intellectual laziness..... learn how to spell. It make you look intellectually lazy. Eckobah |

Unsure - To war or not to war...
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/21/08 10:57:12 AM
I have played WOW, AOC, and many other MMOs. It's all I do is game. And a lot of them I was there for the beta. Thus I have just a few comments for you all to think about. Warhammer is a new game. No way you can make any judgement about an entire game until you have played it. And by play it i mean more than just an hour or even a week. It would be like me saying i hate orange juice when all I did was look at the color of it. There is no way for you to get the full aspect of an MMO from just a short time of playing. Unlike other games, Mythic never said they would have something in the game and then it was not there. They have delivered on what they said they would. RvR and PvP. They said that the game was not about crafting or all the other fancy stuff. They said from the very start that it was about war. Warhammer has been around for a long time. It has gone from a tabletop game to an MMO. The lore and stories you find in the MMO are much more full and interesting than the other MMOs. Games Workshop has been working on storyline for over 20 years and they have it down. I find most people today do not even bother with the storyline. Have you read the storyline? Not every MMO is for everyone. Find the one you like and spend your time with that one instead of wasting time flaming the ones you don't. EVE is a great example. I know alot of people (including a lot of my friends) that will not play that game because they can not stand to lose what they worked so hard for. If your ship gets blown up, you lost it for real. Warhammer is about war! PvP and RvR. You can take and hold things in this MMO. I personally like that. In WOW and a few other games once you max out all that is left is the battlegrounds. And all you can do in those battlegrounds is kill or be killed. Yup you can get rewards, some type of fame and/or title just like all the MMOs. But there is no territory or objectives you can just go take and hold if you wish. Nothing like going and taking a keep from those playing Order. So the final outcome is that Warhammer is about PvP and RvR. If you don't like those, you won't like the game. If you are looking for crafting and other aspects then you have not been following the media that Mythic has been pumping out of the past couple of years. They have delivered on what they said they would. Sure I see housing and such coming in the future. After all they did it in Dark age of Camolot which is a Mythic game. Eckobah |

One thing mythic said from the very start and all through development and beta was that the game was about RvR. Not about crafting, quests, or any other aspect. WAR! And I think they have done a great job with the RvR. You can go and actually take that keep from the other side. Warhammer has aspects of RvR that other games do not. Not once do I ever remember Mythic saying you will have a whole new aspect of a game never seen before. Sure it's another MMO. However I see an MMO that has a lot of PvP and RvR. A game that has potential. The thing is all MMO's will always have quests, tomes, PvE, and PvP. As well as all the other aspects we see in other MMOs. Read the storylines. Find out why this is the way it is or how it got that way. Sure Warhammer, Lord of the rings, World of Warcraft, and many others are basicly the same games in a different wrapper. But which one interests you? Me, I have been a warhammer player and fan since the game first appeared. Back when it was just a tabletop game. I also like the storyline in Warhammer Online more than the others. And yes I played those others also... alot. So I ask you. Why flame a game? If they are all the same to you, then why not spend time playing and talking about the one you like the most rather than wasting time flaming the ones you don't? Eckobah |
