They can sell as many boxes and subs as they want, but  I played their game one month and what I saw was a nice single-player game packed with a mediocre mmo. They made a lot of initial sales thanks to their single-game reputation and the Star Wars IP but LOTRO, WOW, RIFT are authentic good mmo's and they were that at launch already, SWTOR in its present state isn't a complete mmo and is unpolished so imo they should actually work on... core mmo functionalities and fix a lot of things before bragging of financial success, oh and maybe add serious space combat not the space invaders smartphone game they put in.

Good for them if they make money, I'll let them drink champagne with their shareholders and EA while I support and enjoy true mmo's :-)

Hello PioPico,

I'm playing Allods Online and enjoying it but my question is why can't we have a subscription option like some other mmo's do (LOTRO and DDO) for instance so people can choose to sub and receive everything normally or can choose F2P and buy stuff in the item store or "packs". I am reluctant to pay for item store stuff but would be willing to sub.

As Allods Online is a good and polished mmo why don't you offer this sub option that would certainly interest people?

Thanks mate, I knew this was coming anyway, and to be honest I was reluctant to post here about the free month they gave me because of the readership: post a positive thread about a good mmo and a good company and you get those reactions. But if such threads get people interested in trying the game, then I did it right!

About the gifts, I already have two friends subscribed through my link and when a third does I'll get a hellish horse with fiery hoves and people subscribing get gifts too and can do the same with their link, I'm not a Doofenshmirtz conceiving an evil scheme, just wouldn't mind a cool new mount :-P

I wasn't hyped by Rift when it was about to launch, and they didn't do a lot of advertisement themselves, but after positive beta feedbacks, I played the last open beta of Rift, subbed immediately for 6 months and stopped only in october to play Rise of Isengard (LOTRO's expansion) then moved to SWTOR (imo a nice single-player game plus a mediocre mmo in the same package).

So back to Rift now and enjoying it a lot, I was worried that I wouldn't find the same good first impressions but here they are!

What I particulary enjoy in it and miss in other mmo's is the dynamic world, invasions, special rifts and the ability to join and quit groups and raids on the fly without any hassle. It demands strategy too, defend a point first or else invasion will succeed or move further to close a rift that spews invaders that are overwhelming this point? Yep zone strategies are rare in PvE environements and very enjoyable when you are with only an ally to defend against waves of attackers who simply won't stop!

I didn't join a guild (but they give a lot of perks if you level them up) and don't do PvP but PvE is enough to keep me busy and I like too the scalable game settings. Playing Rift made me realize how SWTOR failed in a lot of aspects and I remember how Rift was *really* polished at launch and SWTOR isn't. And I haven't seen any bug in Rift for ten days now, you can feel Trion masters perfectly their engine and know what they are doing.

But now you'll say enough blabla and what about the three gifts?

- First gift is their dynamic and fun mmo, good customer service and reactivity :-P

- Second gift is the possibility to play for 79 euros for 13 months, cheapest AAA sub around afaik (without a dirty item shop on top of it or collectors' special access, etc), be quick though, VALID TILL THE 31ST OF JANUARY!

- Third gift, I subbed to 13 months then unsubbed to avoid automatic resub and I explained the reason in their feedback in the "Financial" topic. I received one day later a customer service mail giving me one more free month because they were sorry to see me unsub thinking it was a "financial" reason, i.e. not enough money to resub. So grand total 14 months for 79 euros! No need to say I like what they did and I'm glad to support Trion and their good spirit!

You have a trial and a very good promo untill the 31st of january, I took this 79 euros option + 5 euros for the collector upgrade (spider mount + 2 other things) for 12+1 months, it's like 6.5 euros/month, good opportunity if you like the game.

I fully agree with the OP, and I choose mmo's according to the way they sell things and how they manage sub. But it's really hard nowadays to find one AAA mmo without this kind of nasty practices. And more recently you have to buy access to VIP lounges for special items (SWTOR for instance).

Lol, well subbed for another year in Rift but won't marry untill I am sure about his/her gender. Of course, it's supposed to be RP so we could get away with this even if we aren't gay but I don't feel like listening to his/her words knowing he/she is same gender as me tbh, it would sound more like RP cybersex, not the thing I want to experiment in Rift (as long as they haven't an achievement for this anyways :-P).

Cleric tanks are getting 2 buffs in 1.7. Both are tied to healing.

 

A talent that increases healing received and an increase to a heal with a 5 minute cooldown.

Both buffs are largely useless in high end raiding.

Why?

Because healing is not an issue when Cleric tanks are taking 50% more damage than Rogue and Warrior tanks. Getting healed for 10% more wont mean anything when the boss kills you in 2 hits.

Also, yeah, wonderful community you got here Trion. Running random Expert dungeons last night was a horrible experience. Far worse than I anything I ever saw in WoW.

Its good to see that nothing has changed with Rift in the 6 months Ive been gone.

Side note - Akylios was literally unkillable originally. So, you are correct that Akylios was harder than any recent raid boss in WoW. Stupid Blizzard actually testing to see if raid bosses are killable.

Thank you, I can't post on their forum and yes I did change my password when I received their mail after their security breach and can log in to my account, to the game, and to the forums, but it says "not entitled to play" when game is loading and stops at 91 %.

@AliceKay nice find, it's always reassuring when everyone is in trouble and not you only, somehow :-)

Well, it's after 10 in the morning now in the UK and I'm still not entitled to play. So it didn't start at 00:00 east coast time either. Not in the UK anyway.

Just tried to log in at 14:30 CET, still not entitled. Agree with your last post they should state the exact time for Europe and NA. A good idea was authorization just after the new patch at 02:30. 

Edit : I can't post in their forum after successfully logging in because I'm not authorized. Maybe because my account is deactivated ? But the OP there was made by someone with the same "not entitled" problem after successfully logging in the game so hasn't an activated account too. Hmpf, patience is a virtue ;)

Not hating EVE at all but tbh Rift was out in 2011 did nearly everything right and EVE released long ago and created a lot of controversy with their leaks and didn't do anything special in 2011 so RIFT should be considered the best mmo of 2011 imo.

And Rift just made it with 0.5% before SWTOR as the most innovative mmo. Seriously RIFT had many more core mmo functionalities and new cool ones like invasions and rifts invading a zone and killing npcs and fighting one another.

And I don't understand why mmorpg.com said they can't put SWTOR as best game for 2011 because it released on 20th of december but still put it in Most innovative category.
