Im keeping an eye on the new updates.. Hopefully it will be good again. Like what they did to the trap tho. |

I think some browser games came out before, like Planetarion,.. but this is the oldest real space mmo.
So bow down. |

The game sounds interesting. I have played original Jumpgate. It requires a lot of player skill in combat, and the flight model was awesome. Hopefully this can be nearly or as good as that. I read the faq. I see that you will be focusing mostly on pvp and not so much on crafting trading.. Hopefully you can add that later, as well as pirating. |

I agree with OP. I have been paying ever since the second CB ended, 10 months now, we were all very optimistic about the future of the game. But the developer has been paying less and less attention to the game and community. After calling this game a hobby project I felt like it was an insult to all the players who were supporting it with $ and marketing (players recruiting new people) and who were hoping that the game could one day be what it should have been from the start. As of now the game looks like its going nowhere, The developer is quiet. One would have thought that someone who is running a mmo would be informing his community about upcoming changes, content, developments. But all we hear (whenever there is an outcry from the community in the forums, and he is "forced" to say something) . Be patient, this is my 2nd job, I dont have time now.. and when a patch does come, it is halfass, only balancing that should have been done in CB and no content. |

I think the best solution for not getting the PVP server is to not Pay for something you dont get.
If JGE doesnt get a PVP server, I will simply not pay to play that. |

Just to clarify. Currently in JGE, PVP is not open. What they mean is.. PVP in Open Space (not instanced space) will be a major part. But there will still be safezones that will prevent you from shooting other players. PVP in non instanced space will be very restricted. Making instances even more popular. I will even go so far as comparing Open space PVP in JGE to an Instance spanning over a larger territory. My fears havent been calmed at all. Nothing less then a PVP server will calm them.

Dev Chat changed the way we look at jumpgate.

to me it just sounds like ND is betraying their fanbase. Their fanbase who has played their previous game for 8 years and is still running. All we want is a PVP server with similar game rules as the previous one. Meaning -Death penalty with insurance for ship and equip. Yes you get 90% of your money back when u die. Pirates are not insured because of bounty. -Multinational squads/guilds -Pirating. not looting, but Pay or Die, or stealing cargo while the other players still alive.. works in JGC. -No or very low awards for instanced PVP. -No safe zones in Open Space, with regulated and unregulated space.. bounty for killing non pvp tagged players in regulated space. Free for all in unregulated. maybe even put some Ai patrols if needed in core sectors to make it safer for noobs.
I cant come up with more now.. but those are the main points. |

I was hyped for a long time when first news of JGE got out.. But now, Im 98% sure that I wont be playing this game for more then 2 weeks. And I have played the original for 4 years.
This will be a carebearfest. It will be a mix of POTBS, WOW, Counterstrike in space and some spaceships. They are making the same mistakes that WAR, AOC, PoTBs, SWG and countless others made. instance instance instance, "no losers ingame, just last winners!"

JG:E will be employing battlegrounds, is this true?
General Discussion « Jumpgate Evolution 2/12/09 7:56:37 PM
Jumpgate Classic had similar thing. It was called a simulator.. but fighting there didnt create adrenalin like in Open Space where it mattered.. It wasnt much of a problem, it wasnt exciting as open space so people didnt spend most of their time there.. especially as it didnt give out rewards. It was mainy used for aiming practice and testing ships as you could equip any ship and equip in simulator available in game. If JGE does make it more like BG or whatever those autoattack games call it, then it will hurt open space combat, as it will draw people away. |

In JGC you had Faction Stations and POS (player owned stations). At faction stations you could sell items or ore from mining at a static price. At player owned stations you could sell the items at whatever price you set. Player owned stations did however cost a fortune for a starting player, but over time it was something most people owned. I think JGE is going for auction house because in JGC there were to many POS after a while.. which created some problems, like eazy escapes by docking at one of them.. Also it will create a more realistic pricing economy, when you can see all the prices in one place.. I dont know if JGE is going to have Squad (guild) owned stations.. but I do hope so.. for several reasons. One would be to not be reliable on your own faction, making your squad independent and choosing their own path. Like pirating, mercenery style or simply defiing any type of authorities. Second, so it would be easier to setup squads consisting of all nations. Those were actually the most poplular ones in JGC. Mainly traders and PVErs were those.. but also pirates, merceneries and outlaws had multifactional squads. Nation = Faction (JGE = JGC) |

yeah, but it wont give rewards that you can use in open pvp.. so battlegrounds would be more like practice area.. iirc |

wow.. u found that twitch had another meaning and had to put it in here.. yes its a brain disorder.
But means also, and I quote : "Twitch gameplay is a type of computer or video gameplay that tests a player's reaction time and precision. Action games such as first-person shooters are typically composed of twitch gameplay. However, other genres can involve twitch gameplay as well. For example, Tetris is a puzzle video game that gradually speeds up as the player makes progress. Twitch gameplay keeps players actively engaged with quick feedback to their actions, as opposed to turn-based gaming that involves waiting for the outcome of a chosen course of action. Twitch can be used to expand tactical options and play, test skill in various areas (usually reflexive responses) and generally add difficulty (relating to the intensity of "twitching" required). A game that rewards reflexes over tactics, strategy, and problem-solving is sometimes called a twitch game." Hey dont blame yourself, you probably dont know anything but EvE/WoW type of gameplay.. |

In the original game, levels didnt mean much more then just accessibility to more guns and ships etc.. PVP was mostly about how well you flew and aimed. And no intancing in real space.. just a simulator that wont affect the outside world iirc. Sign up for beta at their website. Jumpgateevolution.com |

Jumpgate Evolution.. it will be the best mmo ever made when it goes retail. Finally a good game with twitch skills instead of some dumb down auto atack grindfest.
