Spoken like someone who hasn't touched the game in almost a year.

I'd love to get my hands on a beta key, been through several MMOs and this one has me hyped as mqkfjdm (I'll censor that). I, probably, won't cry a river if I don't get one, but ah well, never hurts to give it a shot.

Played this game at launch for about 6-9 months, some of the best times I've had in an MMO were in WAR. Crimson Imperium Reborn will always be in my memories.

I really like the skillwheel as explained in one of the vids and that there are no levels. Im not really impressed with the setting so far though. Zombies are utterly boring to me so I hope they will have some more interesting mutated monsters then that or just enemy human factions.  I also didnt really get a good impression of how open the world is.

And I also hope that EA stays out of the development decisions of this. Funcom already has enough problems with releasing a complete game without them messing with dev timeline.

They're not "just zombies", though. They're Funcom's own take on zombies and are called "The Filth". I know, I know, vague and they're still zombies. But those are just the random mob you'd encounter en masse. The beauty in the enemies lies in the countless myths and stories that exist in our world and are brought into the game. The scarecrow, the draught (ancient vikings - I might be wrong on this one - who were cursed and rise from the sea), bigfoot, etc etc

How open the world is? Well, the zones are, from what I've read and seen, rather instanced and linked to eachother through Agartha, based on the legend that the earth is hollow and actually serves as gateways throughout the world.

And I wouldn't worry too much about EA, like I said earlier, they are only in the deal for the retail box sales, that's the only right they legally have.

I dont mind instanced in general, but it will depend on load times and how often they will occur when playing.

To give an example, in AoC I really didnt like the client. It felt sluggish and the loading times were simply too long for my taste. What made it worse was that you have to travel through the large cities to get to other countries. Which added to the amount of loading screens.

Well, it is mainly zombies that Im bored with. Im curious on how those other myths and legends will come to life then in the game :) Im going to keep on checking news about TSW anyway. The different factions sound interesting so far too.

From what I've read and heard the zones are pretty damned big :)

Look Moensk,

I posted about FC, thier business practices and the recent impact they had on Anarchy online. I have used facts about AO to project concerns about potential issues in TSW. But in the end, (as i have said before) I don't presume to speak about TSW. Everything I have posted about AO is based on 1st hand experience and can be pretty much verified.

You, however decided to disagree. But since you have no information or facts, you use personal attacks agains me that have nothing to do with FC, AO, TSW, my post or this thread.

Do everyone a favor. Please. Go get some facts and prove me wrong. And not some press release by FC saying "Oh No, we'd NEVER put anything like that in our CS" They said that about AO and guess what....It's all in there.

I can assure you, If you can, I'll be the 1st one to post an apology fo spewing my crap.

And just to show you that I mean it. I will admit, that I was wrong about EA. I saw the logo and made an assumption that they were backing the game. If they truly have nothing more than distribution rights to the boxed editions, then I retract my comment about EA in my 1st post.

If I genuinely insulted you, I honestly apologize. I never intended to be insulting or whatever, I just have a way with words that can come off as insulting without actually having that as an intent. So therefore, my apologies.

However, most of the points I brought across are from what I've picked up from previews, interviews and statement by the developers on the forums. What my main point was though, and it may not have gotten across that well, is that you shouldn't brush off the game because of a negative experience with a previous game.

Heck, TOR is a trainwreck when it comes to bugs, but will I write off Mass Effect 3?  I understand you have gripes with how Funcom is handling AO and from what I've read from you, rightfully so. But AO is an 11 year old game and your point about having to need two accounts to actually get something done is outdated and is not from this era when it comes to MMO gaming anymore.

If memory serves me well, I recall Ragnar saying that they've learned from past mistakes (the launch of AoC mainly) and that they'll do whatever they can not to repeat mistakes and, honestly, at this stage in the development and from what we've seen, we'll need to take their word for it. But their past games do not warrant writing off a promising game such as The Secret World.

Now, on a final note, I'd like to say that I have nothing against you personally and really, if I've truly offended you, I hope you can accept my apology on that. The "insults" were merely a figure of speech and are basically how I usually put my point across, very graphic so it sticks. I'm just personally sick and tired of the general attitude on this forum that whenever a game is close to launch the majority of these forum users seem to jump on a game and do everything within their grasp to make sure nobody thinks of even playing it. Shake on it? :)

The cash shop? Oh noes, a player who spent extra money on the game will look differently. What you're forgetting though is that "gear" (or should I say clothes?) in this game add zip, nada, zero, de rien, no stats whatsoever. Nothing. Not even half a percent of whatever stat you get off on. Not even a teeny-weeny-meeny bit.

Where do you draw the line?  What if players had to pay extra for any customization at all?  Or what if half the customization were in the cash shop?  I'm not saying it'll be that bad, but I can see it going in that direction, and I think saying it doesn't matter because it's purely cosmetic isn't necessarily true.

Customization is important to a lot of people, and when we pay full box price for a game (and a sub, ffs), we expect to experience whatever the game has, in that area.  Not some diminished version, so that they can nickle and dime us for more.

I do agree with you, but I somehow shush myself to sleep at night thinking that they will know that when they add half of the customization options to the cash shop, they'll get tons and tons of hate thrown at them, especially in a game where there's no gear, only clothes.

But, how different is this from WoW, for instance? They have the box price, they have a sub and yes, they have a cash shop where they sell fluffy little bunnies and sparkling ponies to ride on. I'm not defending Funcom here and I would prefer the game without a cash shop as well, I'm just saying that people shouldn't cry wolf over something we don't have the full details on apart from "it'll only be cosmetic".

That text you quoted from me, however was in response to GeeTeeEffOh (I hope I spelled that right) who was saying that players with more RL money were more powerful in-game.

This game will fail. Yes, it looks good. It may be well written and well developed and it might just be what players are looking for. So why will it fail?

You have a joint effort between two failure MMO companies. EA and FC!

I used to be a long time player of Anarchy Online. I recently quit primarily due to the neglect of the game on the part of FC. Paired that with the introduction of the Cash Shop which in my opinion was just another channel to abuse the players of the game. FC has proven that they will use Cash Shop items to fix content issues in their game.

1. There is an issue at the fundamental level where the game was developed around player inter-dependency. (non-soloable content) The concept is great, but the current state of the playerbase doen't support this. FC's fix: Ec\ncourage players to buy 2nd accounts (Yes that's right now you pay $30.00 per month to play this crap..And if you think this is exaggerated, I'll tell you that EVERY SINGLE player in the game that I knew had multiple accounts. It's not an option really) So FC sets up the "Veteran Account Program where you can purchase the vet account with points that you paid real cash for and that allows you to spend $10.00 per transaction to transfer characters between accounts so you can dual box level your alts.

2. the 2nd problem is closely related to the issue above. In order to play the game, you need to run with buffs that your character cant provide, Every profession (Class) has a set of buffs that everyon else needs. Good idea, but again, the playerbase no longer supports this and players were spending large amounts of time searching for buffs and not playing the game because no one could give the needed buffs. The player solution, (See above) open a second account and level level a stable full of personal buff bots) FC's solution? "Cannned Buffs" Yes you can go into the item shop and purchase with real money, the needed buffs.

3. They say they don't sell anything that will change the balance of power. That's what thy said and it's an outright lie. 1st off, you can buy PVP victory points and go buy weapons and armor. 2nd if that isn't enough, Most of what you can buy, you can resell for ingame credits (gold). So, you want that upgrade you need? OK, go buy a Token Pack (Faction points) with real maoney and resell it ingame for game currency.

If anyone thinks this won't happen in TSW, well, I just don't know what to say. It's FC and EA, they are greedy software companies who don't give a dam about the quality of work if they can turn a profit at anyone's expense.

This is the same reason I have doubts about GW2 as well.

This post oozes off unfounded crap that's being spewn by people who have a grudge against Funcom for the launches of their earlier games.

First off, this isn't a joint venture between Funcom and EA. EA solely has the right to publish the boxed version of the game. Woopty-friggin'-doo, they get to ship the boxes to the stores and rake in some profit through that. From there on, EA is out of the picture. Yes, it has been repeated many a time by Funcom and it will be repeated over and over again until thick-headed fear-mongering b... (let's not start insulting) like you stop spewing nonsense.

Your first point on having to have multiple accounts to play? Get  a grip, the game has enough content (supposedly, I don't work at Funcom, nor have I had the privilege to be in the beta) to last you a loooooong time. And that's not only coming from the "evil" mouth of Funcom representatives, but from friends who've been in the closed beta for a while now and have been playing day and night - so to speak, they need to sleep and eat, y'know?.

You seem very angry over an old MMO, a very old MMO. Well, newsflash, this isn't the same MMO that you've been playing for, if we can believe you, an extremely long time - at least, long in "gameyears". You must be quite the sadomasochist, now that I think of it. Playing a game you obviously hate for such a long time? Who's your dominatrix? I bet she just loves someone who likes to torture himself that much.

And point three? I don't even know what you're on about. The cash shop isn't in the beta yet, Funcom has released nothing about it but "it'll only be cosmetics" and yet you claim that they're throwing in "pvp points" and "faction points" that you can sell? I don't know which drugs you're on, but I want some of that ish because it gets you trippin' like a mofugga apparently.

People on these forums need to get their heads out of their behinds and actually start looking postively at life. When's the last time you smiled? Looking at the posts on these forums, you guys and gals need to start getting on antidepressants. Sorry that TSW won't be your niche-sandbox-permadeath-playerdriveneconomy-dinosaurswithlaserswhilehavingelveshumansmodernsettingandsomepie-mmo, but be realistic, that game is never going to release during your lifetime. Stop being bitter, maybe find another genre.

lol

Game, set and match?

Expressing my concern regarding my experience over FC's use of a CS in other games gives you the right to make personal attacks about my sexuality and cal me a drug abuser? Really?

Boohoo, I get graphic when I put a point across, get over it, it's the internet.

You come on a forum dedicated to a certain game by a certain developer -which you clearly hate- only to spew crap about a game they've released 11 years ago. Yes, you may not agree with their cash shop, sure, you may not agree with Funcom. But what guarantee do you have that this game will turn out the same? Did they write you a letter where they assured you they'd do the exact same thing with TSW as they did with AO?

However, your blind hate towards AO and Funcom has somehow assured you that TSW will be the exact same and that it is the spawn of the devil. No, do your research before you open your mouth. It's better to have people think you are stupid than to actually post it online for everyone to read and take away all doubt.

You are talking about me spewing crap I know nothing about????

Hello????

Only I really do know what I am talking about. FC has a track record and one that is not 10 years old. It's a recent one.

Really...come on, lets hear what you really know about either TSW or AO. I'd like to know what you know that no one else does.

Concerning TSW, I've already counter-argumented all of the gripes you had with AO. Please, tell me what you fear that will happen with TSW and I'll tell you what I know. You don't want me to write an essay on what I know on TSW, believe me. That and... I don't feel like writing that much at 8.26AM. But please, by all means, if you want information on TSW, ask away and I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge. I'm not wearing rose-tinted goggles and yes, there are parts of the game that look to me like they aren't exactly what I wanted. But at least I'm not gunning them down because of what they did to an 11 year old game.

Game, set and match?
