It is free to play which is a must try for me.

The game is terrible, yet I don't understand the high score which MMORPG.com gave and its inclusion in top non fantasy MMOs.

The review is ok, but the final score is ridiculous.

6.8 is extremely high compared to some other MMORPG.com reviews. Like Stekky said Darkfall and Earthrise, which are much better games than this joke Xsyon got lower scores and Age of Conan is light years ahead of that thing called game and yet, its score is close. This is sad, very sad.

You need to review your score policy, something is very very wrong.

I read so many positive things about it, yet I haven't seen a single good thing while playing. It is not worth even for a f2p title.

Ultima Online. It is a legend and there is no other game that gave so much fun and thrill after that. I can't wait for its sequel.

I was thinking the same. Those games had their fans and a good company can revive them and make then successful. From your list I really miss TR.

I don't think the problem is time of release and concept. The problem is that the game was released too early and people had too high expectations for it. Beta had to run about 3 more months. I am sure if this game has a second review after a while, the verdict will be much better as long as the devs keep improving the title like they do at the moment.

Don't be fooled by this review. Yes, Earthrise has problems, but not the type of problems described here. If you want to read the actual game problems, go and check the official forums of the game. At least the information there is given only by people who have bought and played the game, not people who read something or want to troll.

I am so glad I did not read that review before buying the game. Everyone reading this will never buy Earthrise and will never see the truth. Yes, the game has problems, yes the game was released too early, but saying things such as the game has classes or that it is not a sandbox game makes me really sad for that reviewer. Oh and full loot PvP? Didn't you find the insurance button????

How long did he spend in the game and did he actually play that game?

The new patch fixed a lot of gamebraking issues. Progress is visible. Earthrise is getting better. Way to go.

This is unbelievable how some people compare the pathetic game Xsyon to anything on the market, not only Earthrise.

Now back on topic, Earthrise devs communicate more than they are supposed to, check their number of posts on the official forums, Ostiak has 78 posts, which is an average of 4 posts a day. This whole topic is ridiculus, you cannot compare games by how much the devs talk to the community.

This patch addresses much more issues than I expected. Good job, Masthead.

Many people are very skeptical here and I still don't understand their point, but the progress is visible in the past 2 weeks. Other indy companies need months even years to fix such kind of issues.

The game is great. Too bad the vocal minority is destroying its reputation. The patch from today addresses a lot of those issues that Drink is saying and the game is much better than its release version. If you are still not certain, wait another 2-3 patches, if you want to jump in and start developing your character, don't hesitate to join now.

Earthrise will be an excellent game pretty soon regardless of what most people are saying on those forums.

My suggestion for you is to wait until end of March, no need to buy the game now, the 2 free months offer is over. In a month or two the issues like lag and framerate are expected to improve.

Weell, FF gave 2 free months after releasing a game that was not ready...by their account. The price does not drop, onlly more time to play a below par game while they fix the things they should have fixed prior to relase...Just a thought.

Well I didn't play that one. Anyway, the preview is not objective, it says what the mmorpg.com community wants to hear and I don't blame the reviewer.

So after that very long rant, I completely agree with this article.  I certainly appreciate everyone sharing their opinions on this forum and I like to think I respect differing opinions when I hear them.  Unfortunately, I really don't see how anyone can give anything but bad feedback on this game.  To blindly follow a game with so many issues baffles me.  For those of you who are playing, I wish the game well so that your loyalty is rewarded.  For those of you on the fence, don't waste your money.

You didn't buy ER and you still give some opinion on the product, that is a really informed opinion, LOL.

And yes, I would love for it to get sorted and one day it may end up a decent game. I'm holding my breath for the end of March as if they haven't got things ironed out by then, most of the playerbase will vanish never to come back, myself included.

The preview is missing the whole information, but anyway I am not here to argue. I agree with you, those two months were given so everyone can see the improvements (hopefully). We still have 1.5 months, fingers crossed.

To be sincere, even you offer me 10 years of free months on such a game, it won't mean that I saved 1000€! I can"t play!! I wasted 50€, that's it.

Yes, you are right about that. If you don't like the game you wouldn't play it anyway. The point is that the preview did not share all facts but only the negative things. You can see that I don't recommend the game in the next few months either.
