I am not sure where most of you are getting your information about there being no PvP in Ryzom but there is plenty of PvP. Outpost PvP battles are pretty fun. There is also the under root (not sure of the name) area that is completely open to PvP.

I played for a while at the end of last year but Ryzom suffers a very low population which in turn causes many to think there is no PvP. The game could have been great if it had been marketed more but the greatness is lost because not many play it.

I did not get a chance to read through all the pages here but I did not see a mention of the Nightwatch (Daywatch and Twilightwatch also) series being an idea for an mmorpg. If anyone has read the books (Not just watched the movies since the movies only brush the surface of the first book) then I hope you would agree it would make an interesting mmorpg or even just a single player rpg. I know a company made a single player game out of the first book I think but it was horrible.

I personally believe that after all the feedback from the first round of beta testing that went on, they determined that most testers thought of the game as a poor Tabula Rasa clone and are in the process of redoing a bunch of aspects of the game, and no doubt trying to justify this to their publishers.

Of course that might just be my hopes.

The "new" screen shots they posted are of things that were already in the alpha game back in late 2008 before they shut the game down for more internal testing.

The way the players responded to their survey sounds amazingly similar to the way the "Hawthorne effect" causes subjects to react in an abnormal way when they know they are being observed/studied.

There are some nVidia cards (Geforce 9600 512mb 128bit) in the $50 range that might play AoC but it would look pretty bad. The comparable ATI card would be the Radeon HD 2400/2600PRO.

Do not bother!

MMO's are games we sub to in the hope were be playing the game for months, if not years to come. This game will be lucky if its running in six months. (It has already gone bankrupt a few times)

Tech issues, community issues, development issues and so much more that is lacking in this program, making it a complete joke as a MMO, play at your own risk of losing your monthly fee.

I do not want to feed you, since I know you are a troll, but I would love to see your proof that there are technical issues and community issues. Obviously development issues are present since the game was recently purchased by Spiderweb International but this development company has plenty of potential and I have faith in them.

I currently play the game and experience nothing in the realm of technical issues or community issues. Maybe you have set your bar so high because of WoW?

I guess I will take the bait. Are you guessing or actually have first hand knowledge of any of the things you claim.

He's being sarcastic. That post isn't serious at all. Read it more carefully.

I read it carefully. I realize it was sarcasim. You might need to take you own advice about reading carefully. That is why I asked if the OP had any real knowledge about whether or not the things he claim are not going to be in the game at launch.

Unless there was something I did not hear about, I believe it will be shut-down for good sometime in Janurary. There is a small chance another company might pick this game up but I would not put to much faith in that idea. It has happened in the past with other games (Ryzom comes to mind since I recently went back to playing) but with the way the financial markets are the chances are probably slightly lower. If you have nothing else to play you should check out Ryzom, since it is free to play until the company that took over gets their payment plan in order (which should be at the beginning of next year).

Wow, mod power to the rescue? I wonder why I still come to this website...

Higher security systems are pretty much safe areas. People rarely attack others in high sec systems because the NPC security forces will insta-kill the attacker(s) before they can destroy the preys ship.

Anarchy Online is sci-fi, has a lot of depth and is still pretty fun.

any game being made might suck...thats not the point

they have spent almost nothing in advertisment compared to other games yet has high anticipation.

I think the high anticipation is due to all the hype that the vaporware trolls were stirring up for such a long time. They thought they were doing the game a disservice but it seems the other way around now.

Well Adventurine SA is not publishing the game themselves, unless Audiovisual SA (the Darkfall publisher) is a part of Adventurine SA (which I cannot find any proof of).

The publisher usually tells the developer how much they are willing to give the devloper for advertising. The more money they allot the developer for advertising the better return the publisher will see on their investment. I agree that so far it seems the advertising is lacking.

The MMO market is already over-saturated with games similar to Fable. The only thing Fable would bring is the small amount of lore it has. I suppose if they figured out how to actually implement a system where a characters action truely affected the entire game world, then it would be pretty neat. I suppose if Fable 2 is better than the first one they might think about making an MMO.

*Edited* This link www.gamerstemple.com/NewsPlus/NPViewArticle.asp reveals that there will be a multiplayer aspect for Fable 2 on Xbox 360 Live.

I understand there will be a few of you that disagree and will choose to try and insult me in your clever little ways.  Feel free but the fact remains, WAR is weak.  It doesn't compare to WoW in PvE content and is laughable compared to DAoC in RvR.  LAUGHABLE!!

If you would just express your opinions and not imply that they are "facts" then maybe you would be taken more seriously.

Well if the things he brings up in his post are actual facts, as in real problems in the game, and if he is basing his assessment, that the game is "weak", from these facts/issues then it would seem that his assessment is "fact" as pertaining to his issues.

(I just made my brother a $170(OS included) machine that can play any mmo under the sun including AoC.)

I would love to know which components you bought for this "$170(OS included) machine" and where you got them from. I cannot fathom how it is possible to build an entire machine (with modern-day components) for $170. I suppose being able to run a game is quite different from being able to run a game that actually plays well and looks nice (a.k.a. being able to turn the graphics up past "absurdly low" setting).

Announce release date: don't hold your breath, we probably won't know the actual release date until right before release (probably within a week), if we get any forewarning at all.

I am sure they will give more notice than a week. When the game goes Gold they have to leave time for production of the game DVD's and shipment to stores.

Tenspotting, I am not sure what you hope to accomplish with your pessimism towards Darkfall. I think it has already been addressed in a few threads (which you have posted in) that there has been heavy internal beta testing happening for the last year. It sounds like the developers are not doing the normal hype and hooplah for their game that everyone else seems to do. Open beta is generally only a month long or even shorter. I think they could do it.
