And, as you can see up till now I still haven't received a reply or an apology from Atlantica Online. Don't look at the red flag and it will go away I think? Trust me the hypemeter is set as low as it can go and does not do a good job of reflecting how I feel.

This is hardly the case, as the last time I was there I deleted the account on purpose.
This time, I only played for about 4 hours before I went to sleep. The next morning it was all gone save the account which I logged into. I am hardly a 'hacker' by any definition as I simply don't want to look at the inner workings of games for any length of time. I am too engrossed by the enjoyment of games to worry about that sort of thing.
I really don't know what happened, all I can say is I wasn't pleased by it. |

I returned to AO last night to play it again, and was rewarded for it in spades. All the work I did was gone, the character was deleted. I went to post something about it on the forums, and it would not work. I couldn't post a thing despite numerous tries to login. I am not pleased in the slightest, and I feel that I was 'removed' because there is a cash contest and I cannot participate in it. So instead of whining to the devs, I will hype them with a 1 instead. Hope the rest of you are more fortunate, I will not be returning after all to play. |

The good thing about a clone is... You can kill it, and it will get back up a few minutes later to kill again. Use em while you got em boys (and girls). Me, I'm gonna say I'll pass to this one and just assume those that stick with it won't get in the way of me playing Darkfall once it comes out. (I so hope I find farmers on DFO, I will redefine 'medieval' on them to new heights)

Not sure if this is mentioned anywhere, but I've noticed DFO's rating has dropped significantly in the last few days. Reason? SImple. Alot of non-dfo's have caught wind of this and are cranking it down solely to put their own mmo's higher in the listings. I can't prove it, and don't care what they think. Once DFO is out they'll eat their words and realize that the reality is waiting for a whole week or longer to get a key for OB will be typical (such as it is now for me to kill time by trying to get a key for WAR). I don't need to label people, nor do I need to be merciful to those that don't understand. Find out the hard way, and deal.

Quibbling aside of what is hoped for, the Hype system is something any large group or even a small dedicated group of forum goers can build up. The trick however is not just to only talk about hopes and dislikes of a game, but to provide an essential environment for other like minded (and sometimes annoying) gamers to talk with each other and try to work out how exactly things are going with a game and how their suggestions can be made strongly enough that it will sway the developers in a positive manner. In providing a seemingly negative comment about the game, all you have done is given a voice to all the hopeful long-time gamers a chance to speak their minds and hope the developers know what they have gotten themselves into. It's not to say I for one don't hope they let us down in DF. But even the idea of a game being able to distinctly stand out from the rest is a very thrilling idea. One I will gladly put down money on once I know for certain it's the real deal. So, don't give up just yet. Yes you've waited a long time as have the developers to bring this game to reality. Maybe you feel you are owed something for having waited so long for a chance to play and feel dejected that you won't get picked for Closed Beta. I can certainly understand your point of view under your circumstances, but think about this. Do you have any idea how difficult it is for people like the dev's, who are also avid gamers by their own testemony, to finally be able to lay out a game they have spent countless months building? Or the endless amount of hours preparing, designing and no doubt arguing over a score of details on every stage of the process involved in making this game? Their hopes, fears and pride over designing a game that has such potential to be what we all hope it will? You simply can't ignore these questions, they are so essential to the work they've been doing. All I want to do is get a chance to play like the rest and congratulate them when I get the chance. Even if it flops, you have to admit what they are doing is no small feat.
So, stick it out just a bit longer. I hope your expectations are met and relief comes flooding into you like a tidal wave. |

I just HAVE to put my two cents in this one. IF DF is going to be as good as I suspect, and IF these developers have spent the last 7 (yeah around that I think) years of their life just making this game (and who knows how many more after the fact) improving it and tweaking out the bugs and flaws... Who is to say they don't deserve to get paid for it? I mean SERIOUSLY people food and homes don't just spring up out of the ground by themselves (hehe a little snag from the video) without some serious hard work and sweat from dedicated people who want to see something LIVE. And all this work for a mere few bucks a month to keep them happy and paying the bills and keep the ideas coming in. What they will create has the potential to be bigger then WOW and the rest of them. In fact, to do what the others could not. And that is set a new plateau for the gaming industry. Remember, there will be Beta testing before it comes out. Do you think those playing it will be quiet about their experiences, I think not! Let's see what the betas have to say on the matter once the curtain rises, and then we'll get a real taste of what's ahead for all of us teeth grinding hardcore gamers.
Bring on the Betas! |

As unfair as it seems, those allowed in the Beta stage will be able to figure out which area is the best to colonize depending on how many people they have or can bring into their fold to create a larger and more stable Clan. Having 100 people right off the bat charging at a city is going to be top priority, and that requires weeks of organization. Even one lone beta tester will be able to determine the ideal spot for this idea, and when he/she comes back with 99 friends on day 1 you can bet he/she's got no remorse in stepping over anything in his path to get it. I was wondering, does anyone have a link for the world map? I was looking for it but with no luck yet. |

I for one have never tried to boost hype on any game.
Save this one.
I'll be glad to jump on this one and see how it works out. |
