Phatnugz, as soon as i saw that name it rung a bell. I was a fairly new Shadowknight in that guild in the last few months before EQ2/WoW came along. Being from Australia i didn't get to hang out a whole lot with everyone.
But i'm sure i must've watched you Bear it up in a group a few times...... Maybe in PoH, or maybe it was few LDON's
Dougal? was that the leaders name?
I leveled up in a newbie Darkie guild called Obsidian Empire before joining Infectus at 65.
Darkie all the way..........Death to Aerist, DDW and X teamers.
I think some of the last things i did with Infectus was help a few guys with getting ready for Emp Ssra.
So lets talk about this LIMITED ACTON BAR OF 8 SKILLS!!!!!! Just freakin 8 skills!!!!

What we really need to know is how many class abilities will we have. In EQ, sure i may have had only 8 abilities "memmed" but i had a whole lot more on my Shadowknight that could quickly be swapped in and out when it was required.
Sometimes i ran with 4 Dots or maybe i had 2 nukes, sometimes i had my low level Fear in for clearing tight spaces. Then there was Invis, Invis vs Undead, See Invis, See Invis vs Undead, Feign Death, Levitate, Lich, Summon my pet skellie, Shrink pet, Shadow Step for PvP, Buffs for when i wanted to protect against the dispelling of a needed buff, Oooops forgot to put dispel in there, did i even mention life taps and drains?.................
I'm sure i've forgotten many abilities.
All these abilities is what gave the world colour and depth (yes colour does have a u in it).
I voted NO btw.

3rd page an no responses?
All the Trolls must be busy scratching their backsides.
I don't understand how people can say they are appealing to the masses. The masses have been playing WoW and WoW has way more than 8 abilities that can be used at any one time.
So is it just the couple of million how bought GW2 (most of them don't play anymore because combat is boring with so few abilities) Or are they hoping to pick up millions on a console. My buddys who only play consoles play CoD, Battlefield or Forza. They are not interested in MMORPG's.
As it is quite clear they didn't target the EQ1 and 2 fans who exactly are they targeting?
This game is extremely early in development

All we have seen is a Human Wizard and a Kerran Warrior. Plus 2 zones.
Everything else is concept art.
So much for getting our hands on the game this year as we were told. (yea yea, i think we all know he was talking about Landmark now.)
I'm not keen on being treated like a fool. There has already been to much of that in the mmo industry in the last few years.

But that's the thing, once you become experienced you are able to focus on what is going on in front of you allowing you to plan and time your moves. Using the Death Knight example again i have all his runes and runic power stored in my brain. I know where i am at and what abilities are available at any given time.
Yes, i do occasionally take a very quick glance at my runes/runic power to confirm i am where i think i am. But how is that any different than checking your rearview mirror when driving a vehicle at 60 miles an hour.
Warcraft has done some things wrong imo but the way a class plays isn't really one of them.
I could of handled the graphics even though it wasn't what i was looking for. But how am i supposed to go from 25 hot keyed buttons (that doesnt't even include the rare abilities i occasionally click) on my Unholy Death Knight down to 8 buttons on a 2013/14/15 Everquest Shadowknight.
How is that not dumbing down?
There is a reason i am not playing GW2 even though i really wanted to like it.
I'm still not sure this will work for me.
On day 1 i start as a Shadowknight, but what will i be a year from then? What happens when me and a buddy cannot defeat a mob as our classes of choice, so just for an example say we switch to a Wizard/Rogue combo to take down that mob.
Then an hour later we do it again for another mob.......
Another hour after that i join a group and they say "We don't need a Shadowknight we need your Rogue/Wizard".
What is going to happen when i log off one night and realize i have not played my Shadowknight all day.
Am i just supposed to accept that i am now a Rogue/Wizard because it is a better min/max?
I don't think i see EQN targeting kids so much with this graphic style. But i do feel that they are targeting the WoW players and not the old EQ1 players.
I havn't played WoW since MoP came out and i was really hoping to get away from everything WoW related, even the community. It does look like if i want to get back to my roots i have to look at ESO. Morrowind was my first RPG and EQ1 my first MMO so i guess it was always going to come down to one of them anyway.
Former 65 Dark Elf Shadowknight.
Just voted exp loss and corpse run.
EQ death, NOOOoooooooooooooooo
Rez at spawn, sit and med and think about my actions and what i did wrong.
WoW death, FFS! now i've got to run back to my body.......... and why the @#$! am i always facing the wrong direction at the GY and why is there always a mountain in my way!
The lack of consequences in WoW actually made it more of an annoying hinderance where as the EQ death meant i had to sit down and get my $@!% together first.
What i wouldn't do to play a Dark Elf Shadowknight again........
Not that one from EQ2 either, i want Invis, FD, Levitate and Shadow Step.
And get rid of those stupid cooldowns from EQ2 while your at it. 20 to 30 secs on nearly every ability is just plain retarded.

"Anger! Anger and revenge! Grr! Grief? Subvert it into anger! Love? Never heard of it! Fear? Only the weak feel fear! Happiness? Happiness is when I revel in my anger!
The problem is, that’s all crap. Human beings feel emotion, it’s hardwired into all of us before birth."
Have you ever considered that it is you that is wrong? Why should i feel negative emotions such as fear or sadness? Thats just silly. Deliberately converting feelings to anger is much smarter. It gives you the strength and motivation to face anything.
I am old enough to have faced many of those emotions you mentioned, and i have stared everyone of them down.
Until you have done that, you will never understand the inner strength you gain from knowing nothing can harm you. It is both liberating and enlightening at the same time.
Anyway, it was interesting to get a females point of view. Even if she doesn't have a clue what it is to be a non sooky cry baby male of the species. ;)
One way to reduce the "zergs" or very large alliances would be to stick to the original plan of penalising multi race clans / alliances outside of the Human / Dwarf / Elf and the Ork / Mahirim combo (Alfar were by themselves).
For some reason after years of being told this is how it would be, they dropped the idea in the final hour because some hardcore pvprs cried about not being able to nutcup the boyfriends who played another race.
Having a really hard time with this game late at night

Have you tried the Sea of Sorrows server? It is the unofficial Aussie server. I play there and the pop is good, not sure if those hours work for you or not. But with the free and easy server transfers it is probably worth a shot.
8:36pm in Aus now and 5:36am in Houston now....that works right?
The Goblins will only be marked on your map when you have a quest for them.
Might get the game later today had a few questions

In fact, Darkfall is ONE OF THE MOST LEVEL-BASED GAMES out there.
A newbie dies in 3 hits to a character with 70 in a weapon skill, and it's IMPOSSIBLE to win against most players until you reach adequate skill levels and equipment rank.
Darkfall is a huge rush to end-game IF you want to participate in PvP.
You literally cannot compete in PvP until you have very high skills, which all will require a lot of time and money to raise and purchase. If you try to PvP, you will die in 3 hits, and do 1% of their health in damage per hit.
Like all mmo's, Darkfall does indeed have character progression.
Shocking, i know.
I would much rather be a newb in Darkfall with the ability to dodge and block incoming attacks from more powerful foes, than be a newb in WoW where you get 1 shotted by level 80's. Lets not forget you can wear the same gear as them if you loot a valuable corpse.
You are complaining about NOTHING.

Darkfall is a great game and just keeps getting better and better, i am really looking forward to the patch/expansion later on this week. It is very different to WoW / EQ2 (i have played a lot of both) and i understand it isn't for everyone but there is no other game like it on the market atm.
I am very happy to finally get to play a 3D skill based mmo, as i have been waiting for a game like it since i played Morrowind way back when i got my first PC.
While there are still things i would like to see improved, the incoming expansion is covering quite a lot of mine, and many others concerns.
I have had no problems with hackers. (yes i know there were a few around before the banhammer went down)
The community on the Human Elf Dwarf alliance seemed very good before i deleted and went to the dark side.
Alfar is for those people who have thicker skin, and can handle or ignore mouthy people. Or better yet kill them. But after you find a clan to your liking this becomes irrelevant.
The population on the NA server is good ( i cannot speak for EU ) and it seems to be growing every day.
If you do go for WoW or EQ2 your only going to be back here in a month bored asking the same questions again.

If you look around google, you will find that the client has been streamlined in a recent patch.
Just under 9 gig now.

Exactly what i was thinking. I have racked up countless hours on BF1942 in the last few years.....why? Because i was having a hell of a lot of fun, and that's what the video screamed out to me....FUN.
I have had AoC for a month with its "awesome" graphics and i havn't logged on for 3 weeks as it wasn't really that much fun pvp wise. Not to mention by all accounts its 40 v 40 seiges are a buggy lagfest.
I have played nearly every mmo out and yet i don't have a regular sub at any of them. I just want a stable game that feels solid and allows big non instanced pvp fights.
Darkfall is the only game that comes close at this time, and by the looks of that video i could be playing it for a long time.
For all those who are trying to discredit Darkfall i say, let me play the game i want to play and you can have WoW/WAR/FF/EQ/EQ2/AoC/Vanguard and any other game you want.
