Next to eating penis fish on a daily basis, this pic I found might help your transformation. Korean doesn't seem so hard at all.

Interesting thread. Thanks for the honesty guys.

Fence sitting myself here. Ex D1 and D2 addict and played the D3 beta, didn't like it and postponed buying into it so far. Some of you perfectly echo some of the concerns I have and it seems I am not done postponing yet :)

Makes me think about Titan Quest and how it added new world bosses at higher difficulty levels with on par or sometimes better drop rates compared to some Act bosses. That helped a bit in keeping the difficulties more distinct.

Quick. Wrap it around you!

i.e. don't think naming particular games will help this discussion. Let's just hope they won't make it a cookie cutter themepark mmorpg of which so many already bored us to death. But so far it looks like they are on track to do just that, sadly.

As a huge PS1 fan I am still a little disappointed with the progress of PS2's development.  You can tell by the trailer that the game is not even in alpha-working condition yet since they had no enemy troops.

It was not a terrible trailer but the music was sorta strange and flying around in a ship around empty bases and shooting rockets at 10 unmanned tanks?  That is not the amazing game of PS that I know.

The music is from the helicopter raid in Apocalypse Now, and makes perfect sense.

Kids...

Yup. Also it was on the Battlefield Vietnam playlist leaning on the same Apocalypse Now reference. My fav. song during areal assaults (along with Edwin Starr's "War, what is it good for?")

Originally it is much older though. But I bet that Wagner would be proud that his music still moves people almost 160 years after he composed it.

Anyway, what I've seen from the cities and world spaces so far doesn't seem to rule them out: cities, zones, roads and squares are often large, wide and open enough to support a lot of models bigger than the characters themselves without becoming overly cluttered. In that sense they didn't rule them out in designing the world.

The biggest diminishing factor on the chance to have mounts, in my mind, is fans who are vehemently opposing their addition because they have been up in arms against people complaining about the lack of them. It could work like a self-fulfilling prophecy to not have them when a big chunk of fans desperately cling to the notion that they are not needed, nor wanted and would make the game more wow like or something.

I would like to see them personally. Running everywhere already started to annoy me in the beta weekend (not because it took so much time but because it's kind of unimmersive to not have any natural kind of transport).

Im the exact opposite.  I think mounts ruin immersion because it allows you to RUSH.  MMO's have only gotten worse once Developers started implementing ways to RUSH.  RUSH to end game, Hurry up and wait, Quick Dungeon Finders, Mounts....the lsit goes on and any thing that fosters RUSHing is detremental IMO.

I would much rather have to walk from Point A to Point B and experience the content that a Dev has hidden along the way.  I guess thats the explorer in my though.

The rushing argument falls a bit flat in the face of teleporting. Anyone in a hurry would use teleporting instead and only use mounts for short stretches (unless you are discovering the world for the first time so you are still unable to teleport everywhere, but they could always restrict mount use to a certain level range to prevent low level "turbo-discovery").

Personally I would use a mount to "not rush"; physically travel from A to B rather than teleport there whenever I feel like it.

Well, only one in 6+ million so far ...

Statistically speaking I'd be tempted to say playing this game is good for your health.

Ride of the Valkyries always tickles my heroic gland. Can't be arsed that Hitler would wholeheartedly agree with that.

If I have to nit pick: that cockpit view is AWESOME to have, just do something about those blue floodlights from the dashboard interface. Yuck. Make them glow softly green or something.

One of the vehicle customization options I hear is the ability to alter your lighting. So this may be possible already!

Srsly?

... sweet.

This game is looking better and better. Futuristic, massive pvp, nice graphics and gameplay uber alles.

I hope the devs manage to sneak in as much sandbox as possible.

Agreed. Fun game. Managed to pull me in much more than the D3 beta.

But between D3, TL2 and PoE my personal preference is leaning towards Path of Exile. It felt more realistic, scary and challenging and the freedom in character development was like a breath of fresh air.

Yup, getting more and more tempting to resub for me too.

They are on the right track with this stuff.

Does anyone know what they did with the Concord bribes for war decs? Did they change  much?

I can see how the ability to easily find mercs is something which will benefit especially fresh player corps when they get lol-decced by high-sec pseudo pirate corporations.

Also the new 'splosions and missile effects are very appealing. (As if Caldari wasn't popular enough, *shakes fist*)

Well, the game launched last week and they've already made around 500 million dollars. Soooo, what were we talking about again? :P

Does knowing that make the game more enjoyable for you?

Hear, hear.

Somehow it's a law of nature that as soon as scores are added to a review, the shit hits "the fan" (and sometimes the hater too).

Seems strong reactions to scores and trying to attack a writer's credibility are paramount for proper functioning of the universe or something.

Fun fact: It's most often the readers which have way too much vested interest in the hype or dehype of games. For them to accuse the writer for not having integrity is a textbook example of "casting the first stone".

@Those who are comparing the score to other games: mmorpg.com does re-reviews to be able to cover a game's long term value and growth or lack thereof. [mod edit]

I read what is on the side of the review. Linking to articles with in a review is like dragging along a scape goat in my opinion.

It would be like me saying here is your apple pie, not follow this link to make it yourself ? ... oesn't quite work well when everyone expected some fresh pieh.

So, you didn't play it, you didn't read the previous articles on which much of this review is founded yet you are accusing the writer that the review isn't complete?

Seems to be a very fair review. And people, ... 7.7 is NOT bad!

I hope mmorpg.com will keep up this realistic scoring habbit. All gaming sites that ride the waves of player anticipation and accomodate fans in reafirming their hype with very high scores lost much of their credibility in my eyes.

In that sense some of mmorpg.com's scores of the past might have been a tad on the high side compared to what Tera gets now but this a good precedent.

We should stop expecting scores only in the 8.5 - 10 bracket.

heh. Hillaroius You know what you are suggesting? This is like changing game rules on the fly:

Ok 1:0 for red team. Well 1 is kinda a big number how about from now on we sign only 0.5 for a score.

7.7 is super ... only all games have 8 and higher XD

*shrugs* You have to start somewhere.

Pretty on par with metacritic, this, by the way.

Activision-Facebook-Blizzard Press Release:

August 13th 2036:

A day that will live in infamy.

From the sanitation engineer to the software engineer. From the massage therapist to the President of the United States. Everyone bought a copy of Diablo 4. AF-Blizzard CEO Chelsea Clinton is quoted as saying "Our retinal implant-required DRM is ground breaking..."

That's some quality poasting you've got going on there, kedoremos. Keep it up!

Crazy numbers and I didn't even buy it yet.

I wonder what Diablo 4 will do when it launches in 2036.

How many burgers did McDonalds sell yesterday?

WTF does that have to do with anything? With the consoles pretty much dominating the games market, I for one, am glad to see a PC exclusive game do so well.

I think his point is that the quantity sold does not equate to the quality of the product.

Isn't that how the internet works?

"LOL, you're game only has x subs"

"Your games going f2p, because it fails"

"My game sold more copies than your"

"My game made more money than yours (but i didn't get any of it)"

After all, BF3 fans where all going "There's no way MW3 will sell more. We'll be number 1". Then it was "LOL, just because you sold more doesn't mean you're game's not a piece of sh**"

The internet rules clearly state that the sucess of a game and it's popularity is the determining factor for it's quality.

Aye, pathetic innit?

In so many aspects many people are happy to be DIFFERENT than the mass and pride themselves on having alternative and subjectively "better" preferences than the majority. Yet in gaming massive number really matter somehow.

"Death becomes a mere setback"

We should probably interpret that as "yet another game without actual excitement enhancing negative consequences to dying".

(Not that full loot is the only way to go, though, there's more ways to stimulate players really not wanting to die).

Personally I'm really bored of pvp with just a token debuff or durability hit and where you are back in the action in mere seconds like nothing ever happened. It makes fights so insignificant.
