Go to metin2uk forums and read the threads (if they are still there,) concerning the player uprising against the G.M's.  Also, try counting the threads concerning player abuse and hacking (the ones that they have left,) and then come back and explain how the op is wrong.

The UK version is crap.  Fullstop.

How can u get such an opinion about not nice game when you have just reached lvl 10? The lvl cap is 100 when fully released and currently at 60 i think. You got yourself just at lvl10 and you expected to have all features enabled? Which game is open at lvl10? What would they give you when you get higher level?

Because if a game doesn't grab you by the nuts and squeeze within the early levels, then it is more than likely that you,  the new player, will un-install and move on.  This game doesn't seem to be able to do that......yet.

A few other things that should be mentioned are:

No gold sellers or spammers.  Every other game I have played has be plagued by them.  In some it is so bad that the game lags horribly in town centres to the point of going backwards.   None in Regnum YAY.

I haven't come across anybody botting or hacking which is not to say it doesn't exist, it just seems to be really rare.  haven't come across much in the way of comments on their forum.

The controls seem to be as they are so you can look behind you while running in one direction.  handy for PVP.  Right click on the mouse re-aligns your view to face forward. Does for me anyway.

The community on the english server is cool and to date I haven't seen much in the way of people screaming for moderators or admin.  In fact thinking about it, I haven't seen any.

I played on the UK server as well and completely agree with the OP.  If you don't believe the info Google Metin2 UK and go to the 'General' section of the forum.  There appears to be a uprising developing against Gameforge and a number of the UK team for the reasons given by the OP.  In short Metin2 UK is imploding.

I have my own opinions about the UK variant that I have put forward on other threads so I wont repeat myself again except to say "play on the US servers".

To the OP, the main thing that made me grit about the UK version was

"Ro?"

"Esti Ro?"

and my favourite

"Yang pls"

spammed a thousand times a minute while you were in the middle of fighting loads of MOBs.  :)

What can I say.  Downloaded, changed properties to 'Run as Administrator' which you have to do if you wish to install it on Vista (goes pear shaped if you don't), ran it, and...........

Same as every other sodding game out there.

Characters consist of three classes which later on at level 10 have the option of changing to one of two specialist careers.  These are your standard fare of assassin, spell chucker and your usual tank.  The character graphics are a bit chunky but at least they gave us the option of a number of hairstyles and faces.  On the whole its ok.

The graphics are similar to the old Tomb Raider games with the odd bit of minor modernity such as flames, groovy statues etc.  This makes it hard to judge on atmosphere, flavour etc.  It tries to stick to the Chinese/oriental theme and on that score it does ok.  Some of the MOBS do seem to be straight from legend.  It has also made the attempt at day and night as well as weather...... well rain anyway.  I cant knock that as most of the games I have played (Metin 2 for example,) cant be arsed with that side of things and to my mind this ommission detracts from a world atmosphere.

Sound wise this game is horrible.  With regards to ambient and creature effects It seems to be comprised of short, and I mean short, looping tracks.  You will hear a bear give a short growl followed by half a second of silence, then the same growl again.  Be close to ten bears and this can really get on your mammaries.  On the music front I found it ok and on that particular point each to there own.

Combat just for the record is your standard fare of setting up hotkeys for specials, point, double click on target (or use keys,) watch it go into auto attack while hammering numbers 1 to 10 on your keyboard.  Graphically the combat so far is average.  It is ok and thats about it.  i am hoping as I play it for longer that this gets better.

MOBS...... same old lifeless bags of exp with "KILL ME I'M WORTH X AMOUNT " in neon above their heads.  I did notice, as a point of interest, that drops from MOBS very rarely have anything for your class.  You can make quite a bit of cash selling equipment which will happen anyway because 99% of the equipment will be for every other class except yours.

Quest are go to location x and kill y number of MOBs.  Nuff said on that one.  It should be noted that travel is from one map arena to another, the locations you want to travel to being selected on a master map (if that makes any sense).  Its not like Oblivion where you wander around one huge world.

Grind it should be noted kicks in relatively early.  I found things started slowing down around level 10. Be warned this one looks worse than the usual fare when it comes to having to commit genocide to progress.

The community is groovy and for the time i have played it thus far I have noticed it's rare for a GM to be absent.  I have also noticed, and this is important folks, a complete lack of spammers, hackers and the annoying gits that set up shop and sit there lagging the game selling crap.  In fact, so far I have not been able to find one single player who has done this.  F***ing Excellent!!!!!  For people who have younguns playing this I also noticed the lack of abusive language in the chat channels.  The worse I came across was 'noob'.

Lag is a weird one. It sort of is there but it isn't.  Sometimes combat will go smoothly and the next time you will have to hit the hotkeys several times because nothing is happening.  You will walk through a crowd of players in town smoothly only to have things stutter briefly when no bugger is around for miles.  Its not a game breaker.....just odd.

Things I have yet to experience......  PVP (haven't had the chance yet).  War, which sounds cool, so looking forward to that.  Item Mall, on which my continued playing hangs.  If it has uber items that unbalance the game or is too expensive then its 'goodnight from me'.  Oh.... Pets and the rest of the world.

On a final note, my apologies for the wall of text.

I wouldnt waste your time tho.  This game is a mindless grindfest plagued by DBL.  Try Runes of Magic instead.  Thats getting good feedback at the mo.

The comment about people not talking is true.  You also have to deal with death by lag,  updates that need emergency fixes on a regular basis and a grind wall at level 50.

The other problem previously mentioned, and it is turning up more and more on the forum, are the growing population of botters and hackers.  it seems that no matter what evidence is provided, people who cant play the game straight get away with it.

To my mind there is no point grinding like an obsessive compulsive to go up a level only to be PVP 1 shotted by someone who only started a couple of hours ago.

In short it is another grinder much like all the other games on this site and it has its problems much like all the other games on this site.  Perfect World is the better choice.

My advice though would be to go out and buy a game like Vampire The Masquerade, Werewolf, Call of Cthulu etc, a set of dice, invite some friends over and roleplay that way.  To my mind after playing quite a few games listed here, none of the deserve the RPG in MMORPG.

Or get Half Life or Left 4 Dead.  It skips out a shit load of grinding and gets you straight to the action.

As I have said before, they are nothing more than chat rooms with weapons.

Additional:

Played this pile of excrement for a while now and have had a go at all the classes offered.

My main character is a Deva which I have managed to get to level 50.  Not much of an achievement really as there is no level cap in this game.

My main gripe about this heap is the death by lag.  It is the bane of this games life.  If you live in an area where you dont get it such as the same street the server is housed then you are lucky.  I have lost count of the number of times I have watched a MOBs body hit the foor only to die seconds later (in some cases while walking away) without any sign of being attacked.  It wouldnt be so bad but the loss in exp is a pain in the ass.  When you hit the wall its even worse.

And no it isnt a crappy pc or connection as I play Left 4 Dead, HL2DM and Team Fortress without any problems.

The other pile of arse to be aware of is the server maintenance.  Practically every time they do it the game gets frelled.  Tonights gem involved having to reload the game every time you changed regions as it crashed, and this appears to be after the emergency maint to fix the problem which occurred after general maintenance.  Testing doesnt seem to be part of company procedure.

Finally, this game suffers from the same old problem that all other f2p's have, that really gets on my tits.  The wall.  on Tantra it hits around level 49/50.  One minute your progressing nicely, the next you have to commit genocide to get 1% of 100.

at the end of the day this pile is just another chat room with weapons.  A Habbo Hotel with fighting.  Same as all the other crap out there with extra lag and monthly screw ups.

hey Ho, onward with the eternal quest to find a game that actually deserves the RPG in MMORPG.

Ahh the difference between roleplayers and gamers eh?

I agree with the OP.

Look at it from the point of view of mounts.  There is no point in having a horse if you cant ride it.  Same goes for player housing.  What is the point of having it if it serves no other purpose than to look pretty.

If you want storage use an in game store/bank.  If you want to rest sit on the ground.  If you cant do anything different in a house what's the point of having it at all?  You can do everything else without one after all.

Oh, and only a total mouth breather would come out with a sarcastic comment about gameplay over innovation.

Unless this game has broken a mould it is still going to be a grinding chatroom like every other game out there.

Every game I have tried so far (which is a lot,) is just another boring clone of the previous wrapped up in different graphics.

If a game has something different such as interacting with the objects that surround you as in Oblivion then YAY.

Personally I want a 3D WORLD that my character lives in and interacts with, not a pvp arena with text messaging  that requires a lifetime of grinding just to get started.  There are hundreds of those after all.

Bring on sitting in chairs, using bottles, eating, sleeping, going for a pee, getting p**sed in a tavern and having a bar fight, booby trapping my house against burglars, robbing houses, nicking the crown jewels, mugging npc's on dark and foggy nights, nicking a guilds treasure map, hell..robbing a guild :) raiding villges, not going out at night because some MOBs are nocturnal, MOBs with a life that actually do more than stand there waiting to die, MOBS that you can form friendships with and trade with, MOBS that run away instead of fighting to the death, etc etc

Not really a discussion point, more of a comment.

I thought I would give this game a go despite the negative comments.  Went to their website, clicked on the download link for IE........nothing happened.

Selected a mirror site.......downloaded the client.  YAY........

Ran said client on a Win XP pc......nothing.  I do mean nothing.

Put client on disk and tried it out on a PC running Vista........NOTHING, except an error message saying that the operation had failed.

Thinking clearly I went to the Kal online website to see if there were any topics concerning installation problems.

Guess what...... there were topics, except you had to register and log in to read them.   In fact for access to most of the site you need to register.

Errrrr why?

I can understand, like every other forum I have ever encountered, registering to post comments and topics, but read???  A first for me.

Is this game so bad that they will not let you read forum comments unless you sign up with them first.  WTF???  I understand that sometimes you can have problems getting software to work because of the way a rig is set up, but this is ridiculous.

In short DELETED.  I would have said uninstalled except it never got that far.

Good post.  I would say that if you are going to give the game a go, register with the US server.

I played on the UK server and got hacked off with the whole thing and left.  It was not the games fault,   the game is good fun.  It was more due to the company running it and the people playing.

For example;

The UK server has no updates except to the mall.

It is plagued by griefers and spammers.   In short the community sucks big time.

It would appear from this post that the UK server also has lower success rates when it come to upgrading as I have lost count of the number of skill books and weapons that I have lost through attempted upgrades.

The ingame economy is totaly screwed.

The character pvp/pvm balance is so cacked that everyone goes either Warrior or BM Sura which means skill books are as rare as rocking horse poo or cost so much it would take until hell froze over to get the yang.

Events......  what events....?  They are so few it is difficult remembering any.

It seems that the UK server is last in everything other than the number of A'holes playing it.

Before I start I would like to pint out that these are MY first IMPRESSIONS of Tantra Global.

Where to begin.

1) MOBS are once again exp bags with no other purpose other than to stand where they spawn with big neon signs above their heads saying 'HIT ME FOR EXP.'

3) Three factions determined by the deity you decide to follow with associated war/pvp.  Lost count of how many games have something similar (yawn).

4) Basically, the usual four classes. The tank, the archer, the monk (for want of a better description,) and the spell chucker.  Again, lost count of all the other games with something similar.

5) Lots of go to x location and kill y number of MOBS missions.  Nuff said!!!

6)  Nice big towns and other population centres with feck all npc's.  I hate it when you get well sculpted cities etc with nobody living in them.

7)  Day and night exist but there is no weather.  I am finding this to be a major cop out  with game devs these days.

8)  The town/city buildings are nothing more than scenery.  You cant enter them and as far as I can tell you will never be able to own them.  Again, another dev cop out  becoming quite common these days.

I wont comment on the graphics, which I found to be ok as I think this will always be down to personal taste.

Personally didn't find any problem with character control, but again, this will, I think,  come down to personal preference.

Lag..... didn't have any.  Cant say much more than that.

The other problems I found with it I have put down to it being OB, but I would advise going to the forums to find out where the creatures are for missions.  There is not much in the way of quest flavour to give adequate direction to where they are.

Suggestions for character builds arent there on the forums to any great degree yet so If your into exploring class potentials, there is plenty of scope and demand for exploration and description.

In summary, the only difference between this game and a hoard of others out there is the graphics and the community which in Tantras case hasn't really developed yet.  Tantra is just another 'grind till your bored' game for obsessive compulsives.

In short, try it and make up your own mind.  If you dont like it there are hundreds of others that are identical to choose from.

As far as I can tell, the differences between the two versions come down to the fact that the American version gets more updates and is ahead of the Gameforge version in content.

I personally used to play on the UK servers but gave up due to the cack community and the mind numbing grind.  Cant speak for the US servers as I never played there.

I used to log on then spend  ages trying to level while being constantly spammed with,

"Esti Ro?", "Ro?", "Yang plz.", "Lvl?", "Noob." , "F*&k off this is my map or I will kill you noob!",  Player A. Hole challenges you to a duel, Player A. Hole invites you to join a group (spammed repeatedly, normally when you are in the middle of a fight so the message box obscures what you are doing.)

Kill stealing, spawn humping and guild griefing are rife especially if your character is of a low level.

By all means play it and find out for yourself.  I would recommend the US version though if only because it gets the better updates earlier.

Since when did graphics have everything to do with a game?

It's called an independent developer. Not everyone can afford several hundred thousand dollar game engines. I can't say anything for the mechanics or gameplay, but graphics should NEVER be your deciding point for a game.

It's insulting to see so many people that are that stupid to continuously complain about graphics. As an independent developer myself, I know what creating a game is like. It's not as easy as your job, sitting on your ass playing the games all day.

Try and make a game yourself. Please. I'd love you to enlighten us with your amazing talent as a game designer. You obviously know what makes a good game.

Hmmm.......interesting.  I would point out that at their core,

A) All games have similar mechanics with only minute variations.

B)  All games involve endless grinding to level up.

C) The main purpose of 99.999% of games is having to grind to be a higher level than the person next to you so you can stomp them in PVP.

D) All games having no other goal other than leveling when it comes down to it.

So the only differences between the hundreds of grindfests out there that occur to me are the communities involved and, as much as you hate the idea, the graphics.  So yes graphics are important.

The only difference when it comes down to it between Last Chaos and Metin 2 are the graphics and the people who play.  Both involve sh*t loads of grinding.  Both have no other goal other than leveling as far as I could see.  Both required spending RL cash to get that little bit further than the people who didnt spend.

The MMORPG market is stagnant with endless copies/variations on what has gone before with only the graphics and players to differentiate between them.

If you are actually an independent developer in this genre then please break the mould.  Smash it, grind it to dust, because personally I am getting sick and tired of the same old grind for no purpose sh*te that is out there at the moment.

Strange really.  I thought the OP was exressing his/her opinion not writing a review.  Despite the fact the OP doesnt use the word 'review' or states 'here is my review' I could be wrong.

Update:

I tried.  I really did.  All that happened was that I fell asleep and drooled all over my keyboard.

There is absolutely nothing about this game apart from the mechanics to keep a player interested.

The world has no character or atmosphere and the character models look naff.  At no point while starting out was I interested in the person I was playing and there was nothing in game to change this.  Add to that the incessant grinding that to my mind is a pandemic that has infected all these games, nothing ingame that is in any way innovative and no community to speak of, Chaos Online to me personally is a fail.

Duly deleted.  Player moving on.

These are my first impressions of the game. It is not a review as I have not played it for long enough (i.e to level 1 million or whatever,) to have a comprehensive grounding in the system. This is just what I found after logging in for the first time.

1) The font used is horrible and difficult to read to the point where I am not even sure what race I am. Its the ones with guns just so you know.

2) There is absolutely no character creation at the moment. It consists of pick your realm, pick your profession, pick an avatar. That's it. You cant alter your face, hair, build etc or your stats or skills.

3) There appears to be no day/night cycle and there most certainly is no weather.

4) The MOBS are the usual fare. Stand in on spot with a neon sign above them saying 'kill me I am worth X amount of exp'. So nothing new or innovative there. They also re-spawn after about 5 seconds so there is no point running around. You can stay in one spot and shoot the crap out of the same one over and over again.

5) I think I am the only one playing it so I would just like to say Hi to myself.

6) The shopping mall appears to sell groovy weapons and armour that may potentially unbalance the game. I haven’t yet played long enough to find out if it is true or not.

7) Static NPC's and no mobile NPC population to make the game world seem alive, even though I am the only one in it. Same goes for the stereotypical pointless MOBS.

8) Dull graphics. I can only speak for the realm I am in at the mo, but it has absolutely no atmosphere or character. I dont care if it is 3D or not, I just care about the atmosphere/flavour a world has, and this has none.

9) Err, no community. At all. None. Nada. Zilch. Not a smidgen even.

In summary as a person who has just entered the world of Chaos, there does not seem to be much to keep me there. There is nothing new or revolutionary about any aspect of the game. What it contains can be found in every other MMORPG out there.

Bugs aside and parts yet to be added I dont hold out much hope for this games future. I will keep on playing for a while longer to see where it goes but that is only because of terminal curiosity.

I love the game and if you dont then why bother posting?

Yeah, go on, tell us why you like it.  Sell it to me daddio

Metin 2 is a good game apart from the fact,

1) It is like every other MMORPG out there.  Just another chat room with fighting.  Why they dont give us all ponts to adjust a character with before setting us free I dont know.  It would save all the grinding for a start.   After all killing endless MOBS is just a delay to pvp nothing more.

2) There is no day or night.

3) There is no weather.

4) The scenery is fairly barren.

5) You hit a wall around level 20.  It takes ages to level up after that.

6) Overall it has as much atmosphere as the moon.

7) The world is devoid of character or description apart from the fact there are 3 kingdoms who dont get on and metin stones fall from the sky.  In short, there is no depth to it.  It could do with legends behind quests/dungeons for a start instead of "go kill me 10 hungry alpha wolves."

8) There is absolutely no point in playing it as in there is no end goal, nothing to aim for, no throne to steal no king to kill etc.  It is just a death match with magic and ancient weapons.  They might as well start everybody off at level 90 to save time and change its name to Unreal Halflife Death Metin.

Apart from that, I cant seem to stop playing it (when I get the chance).  Go Jinno!
