Why complain when others don't care or like the same things as you? Hypocrites.

WoW is killing itself. Thats why Blizzard is making a new cash mach.... I mean MMO.

WoW is slowly killing itself thats why Bilz is making a new MMO. You can already see it with games like Rift. Rift is almost exactly like WoW, yet despite that fact people are flocking to it in droves after Cata just to PLAY SOMETHING Different.

You're wrong I feel and you're contradicting yourself.

If Rift is just like WoW and people want something different, why would they go there.

No one is flocking to Rift in droves. You need a huge and experienced team and you need to attract the PVE crowd. Rift has the same developers and engine as Warhammer, no surprise the game is a PvEvP games just like it.

What could kill WoW are the huge IP like GW2 and SWTOR.

Rift does not play like WAR. It plays like WoW. People are trying Rift and saying its good and not a WoW clone because it has an intresting class system. THat 1 aspect alone is enough to pull dejected Wow fanatics to the game. A game engine has very little to do with how the game plays. Rift's game engine is Gamebryo, the same one used to make Oblivion.

And please reread what I said. I don't like RIFT its a WoW clone, but people are still playing it and  saying its different than WOW because it has 1 aspect and people are craving a new game experience.

GW2 will be the game changer for MOST mmo fans who like Themepark games.

You keep telling yourself that buddy.

(Pssst, people don't flock in droves to something that isn't out yet, but you haven't shown yourself to be a fanboy by making baseless claims!!)

Less sales then Warhammer at launch, big drop off at month 2, dead by Star Wars. That's the future of Rift.

I dislike WoW and Rift equally. They are essentially the same game with the same crappy game play and the same crappy focus on gear grind hamster wheel. Neither of them offer anything unique or engaging. PvP in both is meaningless. The only reason why people still play WoW is because every AAA title that has came out has copied the tried and true and why play a clone when you can play the original that you've already invested year into.

But you cannot argue that WoW is killing itself. There have been 3 expansion, none of them have taken the game in a completely different direction game play wise. Thats why you see post from WoW fanatics saying they are bored.

WoW's not going anywhere, they're the king of the hill and will most likely remain so until Blizzard release their 2nd MMO and/or decide to do something really really dumb.  I'm not really sure why people keep saying such & such will kill WoW.  You'd think after 6 years people would get tired of saying it heh.

I don't even play WoW right now, but you don't have to play WoW to know Blizzard is a quality gaming company.  They cater to a very loyal fanbase and they know how to give people the fun they seek in games.

If by fun you mean welfare epics, borning game play, gear grind hamster wheel then SURE

Us beta earlier beta testers were promised BP pools to test higher end skills, but that along with many other promised implementations never really happened. The gear inbalance is already bad enough.

There should be gear imbalances between t2 v t3 v t4 etc or else there wouldn't be a point to craft the higher end stuff. The difference between the highest armor and then next highest set shouldn't be extreme, maybe 10% difference, but if you go up 2 levels it should be a lot more noticable.

I have followed Darkfall for a long time. I truly believe it's biggest downfall is the utter lack of meaning in it's PvP. The only reason to PvP is for it's own sake, so it ends up being like Modern Warfare on an absolutely gigantic map. No one really cares about losing their gear. No one really cares about the holdings since they don't really do anything anyway. No, the real problem is that I can just murder someone any time I feel like it, and there is no consequence for it. This in turn makes it meaningless. The game doesn't penalize me, the victim doesn't care because he has a bank full of 100 copies of the shit I just took from him, and likewise no one else gives a shit either. It just doesn't matter, and so it becomes boring. You can't even be a low-down, evil, murdering bastard, because no one really gives a fuck. It's no fun, because it's utterly impossible to even ruin anyone's day.

I dont know if its the largest downfall I still say its the community itself that has been a downfall and AV's assumption that people will play a game in the spirit it was designed for.

Having said that, if it was my game I would not allow pvp at all execpt between clans and clans could not exist unless you had 10 players. I would give people the option to join an 'outlaw' alliance allowing them to pvp anyone but it would not be race specific and a fairly high commitment.

The focus of the game should be more warfare and in all fairness I think many from the community feel the same way, but the loudest QQers of the community typically just want a 1 vs 1 gank fest

I'm glad its not your game.

THe biggest failining of DFO is the fact that scarcity does not exist. AV is making scarcity exist with the next expac.

@Hotjazz. The cost is perfect, the mechanics for protecting those weapons aren't. I don't want losing a ship to be like losing gear.  I also disagree with you on the "fluff" complaint. More people who have quit the game have quit because of the lack of things to do outside PvP than have quit for any other reason. DFO needs more fluff. DFO also doesn't need artifical PvP hot spots, it just needs scarcity so you have to farm or kill farmers to keep your bank up. I would also say that "waiting around 10hrs doing nothing" is because you clan SUCKs and doesn't like doing anything other than "simi fair' fights. If your clan realyl wanted to have fun then you guys would go raid LoD, DHW, or some of the other harder clans. But they don't want to get zerged so they sit around all day into something artifical pops up.

While that may be so...

...there's no need for MS to screw around with a tried and tested control method that everybody instantly feels comfortable with. Making it different for the sake of making it different is not very impressive.

Just how ol... oh nevermind, I see you've wisely edited your post so you don't come across like a 12yr old wow kiddie.

Normal MMO controls wouldn't work for this game because it relies on manual aiming. They didn't make things different for the sake of making them different.

what he said. It has to have a different UI because it has FPS mechanics. IF you've played any of the FPSMMORPG that have released recently to include DFO, MO, APB, and FE they all have similar UI functions because THEY HAVE TO.

Looks like a fun action MMORPG and the combat looks better than Vindictus

Lately all PvP can offer is a quick fight that mostly determined on who started. I know I oversimplifying things but hey why didn't the industry go the strategic PvP path? It would definitely be more epic and would allow us to think and cooperate much better with our team.

GW2 has some cool ability combinations between players but still combat is planned to be quick. So why did the industry seem to be so non-innovative? What could make PvP combat last longer and more interesting?

The industry is actually rather innovative, as there have been many changes made to make PvP more of a sport, which is far more fun for most MMO gamers than conquest gameplay or war-based mechanics. The fairness of the matches and rewards for participation are two of the areas where there's been noticeable evolution over the years.

You can have instanced territory control or WARFARE mechanics. The problem with the industry is that most MMOs use the same crappy type of matches: CTF and Deathmatch which don't requires much strat to complete. GW was the execption because terrain mattered more than most games, HA had more than 1 type of match, and GvG had other elements that requires well balanced builds and less focus on just killing the other side.

WoW is slowly killing itself thats why Bilz is making a new MMO. You can already see it with games like Rift. Rift is almost exactly like WoW, yet despite that fact people are flocking to it in droves after Cata just to PLAY SOMETHING Different.

The correct question you should of asked is: Whats the next MMO Game changer. GW2 will be the game changer for MOST mmo fans who like Themepark games. Don't get me wrong, it will be a fantastic game; however for those of us who like FFA Full Loot  PvP sandbox games it will not be a game changer. For those people the next game changer will either be Archage, if it sees the light of day, and World of Darkness MMO by CCP.

Because most people are terrible at PvP games. GW1 had a lot of strategy involved in all its PvP, from build creation to a simple death match. You probably didn't play GW1 which is why you are saying GW2 won't have the same thing. Trust me, it will.

But I think what you are complaining about has more to do with the nature of Battle Ground PvP than anything else. Its

As the title says, its nearly impossible to properly test the skill system atm due to having to level up to get skills. Expect lots of balance issues as a result. I'll glad take back my statement if someone who has gotten deep into the skill trees can tell me I'm wrong.

The UI and movement controls are fine. Read the manual before complaining about how you can't use regular WASD movement or FPS movement.  The only thing that sucks about the UI is the inability to remap controls. You can work around that with a G13/G15 keyboard, autohotkey, or autoit.

This game is probably the worst MMORPG title on the market. Anyone who does not believe me get a beta key and hop into the game. Character creation is lacking as crap, UI sucks, and of course the movement controls are HORRID.

I haven't played the game yet. Character creation, UI, and movement controls? That's it?
What about other aspects of the game?

It was so shitty I couldn't even bother. This is all opinionated of course... I couldn't even really move. Like tradtionally you can click or move with WSAD. Well you can move with WSAD however, it's not entirely accurate nor does the camera move. Character creation you get like 10 faces to pick from, and a few hair styles. You cannot customize anything but those (and race of course and skin color/hair color). UI looks like some stuff from 2001. The quests made no sense.. nor was there a story introduction to explain anything going on.

On a positive note, it does have some pretty nice looking graphics.

So you came posting here because you didn't read the big popup window telling you how to move and switch combat and movement modes? okay. move along.

You can dismiss his statement, however, he is correct. The controls really do need some work . They just do not flow as well as other mmo games or even a single player TPS game. Tabula Rasa had decent movement and shooting controls. They will probably get it up to that level in time.

The controls don't need any work. You can switch to standard wasd movement by typing in /wqse enter and you can switch to standard FPS movement by hitting TAB. If you can't be bothered to read the manual for a game then you will suck playing sandbox games. Seriously, have the complains about this game stem from the "UI" and yet people don't bother reading the manual or realizing "oh its an FPS game too UI HAS TO BE DIFFERENT Herp adurp"

Bad performance? I've had no issues. Its possible that its because you have done a fresh install?

GW2 = game changer

Just so you know... there's a skillcap for every type of weapon, armor or crafting-category.

So yes, it's basically more like EvE in that regard and not like DFO.

Really? Didn't read that. Then that changes things. ALso the fact that armor affects you character a lot leads to a skill cap type of game as well. Still don't like the fact that stuns and roots are in the game though.

The only a few issue I have with the game is the stability and lack of tooltips/quest info. They kinda fixed the later with question indicators (sigh) and the former was improved in the last patch as well . Oh and not being able to skip the tutorial is a pain in the ass, especially when all the people you are playing with are DFO grifers lol

You mean the tosser shooting the armadilos at the melee training ground? The trouble is that ER seems to have a working criminal system (unlike DFO) and the skill system is less open to abuse, I hope!

No, I mean the people killing players at the melee training ground. And the skill system may likely be WORSE than DFOs. There isn't a skill cap yet there are stuns, roots, snares, and interrupts.

Did he seriously get so severely assaulted by funhulks during so many gaming sessions as to be unable to play the game without being griefed by funhulks?

I've never even seen that happen.

Likely not. This is probably the same person who posted a similar story on the DFO boards. Its likely happened once while he was afk crafting with 500+ iron on him or something.

Controls are horrible - Uninstalled.

Awesome testing. Are you a professional beta tester?

Come on,you can't even rebind keys!

Are they proffessional devs, you should ask yourself.

Good thing you don't need to. Also, you can switch to normal WASD movment thorugh a / command.

If you've played DFO, MO, or FE, you'll have no problem adapting to these controls. Its the type of control setting thats required for FPS MMORPGs.
