Originally posted by bastionix Rift does not play like WAR. It plays like WoW. People are trying Rift and saying its good and not a WoW clone because it has an intresting class system. THat 1 aspect alone is enough to pull dejected Wow fanatics to the game. A game engine has very little to do with how the game plays. Rift's game engine is Gamebryo, the same one used to make Oblivion. And please reread what I said. I don't like RIFT its a WoW clone, but people are still playing it and saying its different than WOW because it has 1 aspect and people are craving a new game experience. |

Originally posted by luro16 I dislike WoW and Rift equally. They are essentially the same game with the same crappy game play and the same crappy focus on gear grind hamster wheel. Neither of them offer anything unique or engaging. PvP in both is meaningless. The only reason why people still play WoW is because every AAA title that has came out has copied the tried and true and why play a clone when you can play the original that you've already invested year into. But you cannot argue that WoW is killing itself. There have been 3 expansion, none of them have taken the game in a completely different direction game play wise. Thats why you see post from WoW fanatics saying they are bored. |

Originally posted by Arquiteto There should be gear imbalances between t2 v t3 v t4 etc or else there wouldn't be a point to craft the higher end stuff. The difference between the highest armor and then next highest set shouldn't be extreme, maybe 10% difference, but if you go up 2 levels it should be a lot more noticable. |

The cost is perfect, the mechanics for protecting those weapons aren't. I don't want losing a ship to be like losing gear. I also disagree with you on the "fluff" complaint. More people who have quit the game have quit because of the lack of things to do outside PvP than have quit for any other reason. DFO needs more fluff. DFO also doesn't need artifical PvP hot spots, it just needs scarcity so you have to farm or kill farmers to keep your bank up. I would also say that "waiting around 10hrs doing nothing" is because you clan SUCKs and doesn't like doing anything other than "simi fair' fights. If your clan realyl wanted to have fun then you guys would go raid LoD, DHW, or some of the other harder clans. But they don't want to get zerged so they sit around all day into something artifical pops up. |

Originally posted by drakes821 what he said. It has to have a different UI because it has FPS mechanics. IF you've played any of the FPSMMORPG that have released recently to include DFO, MO, APB, and FE they all have similar UI functions because THEY HAVE TO. |

Continent of the 9th – The next generation of MMORPGs?

Looks like a fun action MMORPG and the combat looks better than Vindictus |

Originally posted by Loktofeit You can have instanced territory control or WARFARE mechanics. The problem with the industry is that most MMOs use the same crappy type of matches: CTF and Deathmatch which don't requires much strat to complete. GW was the execption because terrain mattered more than most games, HA had more than 1 type of match, and GvG had other elements that requires well balanced builds and less focus on just killing the other side. |

WoW is slowly killing itself thats why Bilz is making a new MMO. You can already see it with games like Rift. Rift is almost exactly like WoW, yet despite that fact people are flocking to it in droves after Cata just to PLAY SOMETHING Different. The correct question you should of asked is: Whats the next MMO Game changer. GW2 will be the game changer for MOST mmo fans who like Themepark games. Don't get me wrong, it will be a fantastic game; however for those of us who like FFA Full Loot PvP sandbox games it will not be a game changer. For those people the next game changer will either be Archage, if it sees the light of day, and World of Darkness MMO by CCP. |

Because most people are terrible at PvP games. GW1 had a lot of strategy involved in all its PvP, from build creation to a simple death match. You probably didn't play GW1 which is why you are saying GW2 won't have the same thing. Trust me, it will. But I think what you are complaining about has more to do with the nature of Battle Ground PvP than anything else. Its |

As the title says, its nearly impossible to properly test the skill system atm due to having to level up to get skills. Expect lots of balance issues as a result. I'll glad take back my statement if someone who has gotten deep into the skill trees can tell me I'm wrong. |

The UI and movement controls are fine. Read the manual before complaining about how you can't use regular WASD movement or FPS movement. The only thing that sucks about the UI is the inability to remap controls. You can work around that with a G13/G15 keyboard, autohotkey, or autoit. |

The controls don't need any work. You can switch to standard wasd movement by typing in /wqse enter and you can switch to standard FPS movement by hitting TAB. If you can't be bothered to read the manual for a game then you will suck playing sandbox games. Seriously, have the complains about this game stem from the "UI" and yet people don't bother reading the manual or realizing "oh its an FPS game too UI HAS TO BE DIFFERENT Herp adurp" |

Bad performance? I've had no issues. Its possible that its because you have done a fresh install? |

Originally posted by Yalexy Really? Didn't read that. Then that changes things. ALso the fact that armor affects you character a lot leads to a skill cap type of game as well. Still don't like the fact that stuns and roots are in the game though. |

Originally posted by Agricola1 No, I mean the people killing players at the melee training ground. And the skill system may likely be WORSE than DFOs. There isn't a skill cap yet there are stuns, roots, snares, and interrupts. |

Originally posted by AzelSpears Likely not. This is probably the same person who posted a similar story on the DFO boards. Its likely happened once while he was afk crafting with 500+ iron on him or something. |

Originally posted by palomp Good thing you don't need to. Also, you can switch to normal WASD movment thorugh a / command. If you've played DFO, MO, or FE, you'll have no problem adapting to these controls. Its the type of control setting thats required for FPS MMORPGs. |
