Sounds interesting.  Still I would like to be able to see the insides of a ship.  At the least we should be able to see the vital areas of the ship.

As has been beaten to death on the official forums ship interiors will most likely come after launch.  Personally I think the game is looking fantastic but we have quite some time to wait.  One of the devs did let slip that this won't be coming until after Champion's Online so 2010 or 2011 release? :(

I hope your trolling with that 2011 release statement.

You are aware its due out this year right...lol.

First off, there will be more than just 8 classes because you have to take into thought subclasses... Jedi have Guardian, Sentinel, and Consular. Sith have Marauder, Assassin, and Lord.

Those are more "specs" then they are classes...unless your trying to tell me there are games out there that have "over 50 playable classes". Anyone whos been in the MMO market recently would hardly call the same exact character, just with a different color lightsabre and slightly better mastery with either a sword or the force, as a new class.

Full voiceover = waste of space/time

Voiceover for critical story components = Yes

Voiceover for random NPC telling me to kill a rat = No

There are some eletists or I should say alot that don't ever like to return to the lower content regardless of being in ur LS and many that don't like to help unless it benefits them.

I love how we have to be elitist because we don't feel like content that we played to death 3 years ago. Some of us "elitist" actually like to play "newer content" for the game we are personally paying for. Aside from that fact, the shells where you will find those people are hardly open to people just starting the game. Seems like you personally managed to get into a pretty crummy linkshell, there are tons of good "noob" linkshells with "helpful players".

i always wanted to play a moogle.

Which is the smartest thing SE did with FFXI ... if they allowed you to play as a moogle everyone would be one ... or at the very least they would have a mule as one.

I love how far from the truth that actually is.

What is with all these companies and shoving instanced content down our throats...while instances allow for a lot of great things, when the majority of your game is instanced then your going down the wrong path. Honestly if I wanted to play instanced games I would go play GW, and save my 20~ USD a month.

I really think you are confusing Star Trek with Star Wars with that statement.

When you compare LotR's revenue to WoW and then look at how much extra free content LotR has put in it puts WoW or any other game for that matter to shame.

This is entirely true, I played LotR for a few months, but sunk years into other titles. I was quite surprised by the LotR dev community and everything they do. I don't still play LotR but I sure do miss the constant updates the game provided.

Off topic, but I can't stand lies anyway.

here are dozens of free content updates from Wow.

http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/underdev/implemented/

65 (!) different FREE (!) content patches total. (some as "trivial" as Black Temple and "The sunwell")

Perhaps Blizzard should seperate them and calling them also "books" to make an impression.

It is about TWICE the size of all total updates for LOTRO combined.

So inform yourself before publishing something please (besides the next content update is already expected in patch 3.1: the biggest raid content ever published by Blizzard a mere few months after the expansion).

Its TWICE THE SIZE, yes size matters. Maybe if WoW had better optomized code it wouldn't take so much space to output a singe sentence. On a less lulzy note, when was WoW launched, when was LotR launched? I forgot the release dates for both. If I'm not mistaken WoW has been out for more then twice as long as LotR so I sure as hell would hope they would have more content updates. Thats not even taking into the account of what we were talking about which is the difference between a game that has 10 million subscribers and huge profit margin, and a company that well, doesn't.

1. Every mmo has bots. Yes but how many mmo's out there actually do something when you report the bots

Data Collection Period      Banned Accounts      Frozen Gil
12/23/2008 - 1/27/2009       7,210 Approx.           1.5 billion

Seems square enix is doing some stuff to combat botting/rmting.

Well your post sounds a little hash on the retared part (you might want to change that).

But I too think it should be a unlockable class. It would fit the storyline a lot better.

Altho there were many jedi's in the old days.... still you had to have the gift and it was an extensive and very long hard training to even become a jedi... many even fail the trials.

But then again... it ain't gonna happen. The game is based on KOTR game series, so they want you to be Jedi from the get go.

Add to that, that the game will be very linear, restrictive, almost pure solo focussed with very little group oriented content, no real crafting and very instanced (due to story progress)...

... it will become more like a Single player Online RPG game with a chatbox slapped on top of it.

So I have basically already given up on waiting for a good SW MMO to ever come out.

Thread should have been locked after this post. Sums it all up.

You are kidding right? Really? Honestly? You don't think the NGE caused people to leave?

I thought the mass exodus was common knowledge, are the fans trying to even cover that up now???

Only factual basis I need is that my server was as healthy as could be before the NGE, and just a few months after was a ghost town.

Every change causes people to leave MMOs. Even good ones. Good changes just bring in more people or bring more people back. It's more of a case that you have no evidence they wouldn't have left anyway. Or that more people wouldn't have left if there were no NGE or that SWG wouldn't have closed down entirely if there hadn't been an NGE. Basically you're pulling numbers out of your behind and making specific claims about them. You're firmly in "what if" territory  and that's no place to be making hard calculations.

In my opinion SWG wasn't healthy before NGE. It was salvageable it wasn't healthy.

If you don't think SWG was healthy before the NGE then you are delusional from the aftermath of WoW. SWG had a very respectable number of subscribers for the pre-WoW era it was created in. In fact, even in the post-WoW era, how many pay to play games have consistently matched or bettered the 200k SWG had? WoW, Eve, Lineage I & II, .... ? Just because it doesn't have millions of subscribers doesn't mean it wasn't successful, and doesn't mean it isn't healthy.

http://www.mmogchart.com/Chart1.html

Lol, Eve.

It is an early April Fools joke, no company would doom itself that bad by releasing something that is remotley this bad. It wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't say  "SG-1", I mean I can sorta see the "likeness" but really? If its supposed to tactually look anything remotely like them then CME is doing it wrong.

Personally, I see /rng being useful for the ranged weapon skills it would allow you to use.  Of course, if you're into using throwing weapons, that wouldn't help.  marksmanship and bows on the other hand have some great damage dealing ws.

using /nin is very traditional and I would end up recommending this even without being able to afford the ninja tools.  using two archer's knives can really help your ranged attacks.

There are only two jobs in the game that benefit from ranged weaponskills, Corsair and Ranger. 33+ Viper Bite is going to destroy any ranged weapon skill you are going to have, not to mention the fact you will have Dancing Edge and Shark Bite before you have access to Slug Shot, which once again totally decimates any ranged weapon skill you try to use.

With that being said, if you can't afford /nin there is no way you could actually afford /rng and shoot away all of your money. On another note, archer knives are only good for skillig up with, there are much better NQ cheap alternatives for damage. On yet another note, when pulling you don't actually need to hit the mob, and as long as you have your marksmanship close to cap and using sushi you are going to be able to land an acid bolt most of the time you are pulling for exp.

And as he said about the /nin job: it's the exact reason I'll never play one. The items needed are expensive, and aren't always readily available. So I opt for a job that doesn't take extra items to use, and just require the usual armor and weapons.

Elitist assholes like you who believe everyone should play the same way, and if not, are either bitched out, kicked, or refused from parties because of it are a major reason I won' t play FFXI again.

Honestly, if you can't afford ninja tools, I wouldn't want them in anything I'm doing anyways. Since if you can't afford tools, I can't begin to imagine the rest of the gear, much less the skill, or lack there of of the player themselves. /NIN is hands down the best sub for Thief 95% of the time. The most expensive thing for /nin will more then likely(other then an offhand weapon) be :Ni. Which as I said before is easily BCNM'd and isn't anywhere near as expensive as it used to be.

Ninja tools, can be expensive. If your NIN/XXX, not when your /nin. /NIN you carry 3 tools, Utsu/Tonko/ and the new sneak one. Invisi/Sneak will cost you about 10k every 6 months(5 mins farming, if that?) and Utsus will range greatly depending on how much you play, what you are doing, etc etc. Honestly though, if you sell a stack of crystals from your exp party that will more then likely make up for any tools you used. Seeing as how a normal exp(not merit) party you'll come out with 2+ stacks of crystals and various things. There is abosultely no reason to say you can't afford it.

Not having enough gil is a reasonable excuse for new players to not have HQ gear, or play jobs like ranger and ninja, and to not have a craft leveled. It is not a resonable excuse to for not having ninja tools(Utsu, tonko, sneak). Honestly, you could probably shout in any area you need some and someone will give you a stack or two, since they are so cheap.

As for me being eltitst, I don't think so. I believe in utilizing my time correctly. While I have no issues with someone who wants to solo as THF/XXX, I do have an issue with them having a lousy sub, or an underleveld sub. I would not invite a THF/WHM to anything(See: Garuda -Anna-) or any other sub for that matter. Subs are situational, and war can be utilized at some levels(Primarily 25 or below) and some higher level instances, but as a full time sub, I think not.

On a side note, I don't have any problems with someone writing things for "newer players". That is awesome, what I have problems with is misinforming them, and actually giving them the idea that some things are good, when they just are not. Honestly, I doubt think the author of this article has a 75THF/XXX or even if he/she does it hasn't been for very long seeing as some of the information in this article is a little dishearting. If it wasn't actually in my RSS feed I would have thought it was written in 05.
In FFXI forums across the net, there is always the debate of "best" tank but in actuality it comes down to what type of tank is best for the job at hand...Paladin, Ninja or Warrior?
The only time warrior has been, or will be a tank is before RoTZ and CoP released. PLD and NIN are far supperior. WAR, is a DD first and foremost now. It is no longer a tank. I don't know what forums you are looking at, or how old the threads are, I degress though, Allakazam is not a reliable source for discussion or player strategies. I was wondering if the author could cite some of these "Forums" in which warrior is discussed as an actual recommended tank, and not as a "Well crap I want to exp but there are no NIN or PLD seeking what else can I use" sistuations.

"You will also have a lower Throwing skill which makes it nice for pulling"

Not sure if I'm taking that out of context but, what? Did you mean that its lower then marksmanship skill, but can still be used for pulling?

"Ranger is a great subjob especially for camping notorious monsters by using Widescan and increases your ranged damage output significantly. It’s not a bad subjob choice for parties depending on the setup and needs of the party."

While I would argue widescan isn't nearly as valuable as provoke for camping 95% of NM's, but /rng in an exp party is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard of. The only real use for /RNG is farming weird low number of mobs before you know their pop places(See: Rams in LaTheine/Kon) and for skilling up ranged skills. I can't believe that this site would actually encourage /rng in a party, just wow.

"Samurai is best for endgame so you can get the TP needed to keep your damage output high."

Maybe Kirin 4 years ago.../SAM's only purpose is the chigoe assault. I'm losing faith in whomever wrote this....

"Warrior has more to offer in terms of abilities and probably your strongest choice until 30 when you can unlock Ninja. Warrior is a good choice even later as Ninja can get expensive."

You can't honestly be serious about this? I'm guessing its some twisted inside joke? While I could see complaining about Utsu:Ni being expensive(Even though its not and it can be BCNM'd), Utsu:Ichi is easily quested, and you can easily pay for Ninja Tools by NPC'ing the items you get from exp parties. I would die a little inside if a 30+ level thief was invited to my party without having /NIN. Ninja sub far outweighs warrior sub for the majority of your exp life. While there are some exceptions, if the author honestly believes that /war > /nin 30+; then, I think the author needs to back to a more casual game where you don't have to rely on people knowing what they are doing(See: World of Warcraft).

"The other reason why players sub Thief is for the Treasure Hunter job trait. Treasure Hunter increases drop rates and thus aids in farming."

I'm guessing the writer of this article doesn't know how insignificant the increase to drops actually is with Treasure Hunter I. More often then not it would be better to just sub a better damage dealing subjob and slaughter more mobs.

Honestly, with some of the terrible information in here I'm suprised the writer didn't point out subbing it for evasion bonus on ninja and dancer...

Nope there has not been any new info, other then a tiny snippet from a question in an interview months ago. What I'm hoping for is some info now that the S-E event is coming up in like two days, I'm hopeing one of the many MMO sites that are going asks when we can expect some new info on it. Or at least ask them to make some official forums for FFXI/Next project, since FFXi suffers froma lack of input from its playerbase, I mean honestly they only time they hear from us is at the big events...
