The game has taken some nice steps forward as far as enviroment, setting and in game story being presented to a the player... but game play I'm not seeing anything new in game play that adds any depth to combat, just running and gunning.

[Column] General: Sexism in Gaming 2012: Anger & Intellect
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/25/13 11:39:45 AM
Make an XBox Live account with a somewhat girl like username and set your profile info to female. Then go play all the multi-player games you usually do and see what happens when people think your a girl playing the same games you usually do.

In the previous betas I did have an issue with combat. It didn't have a great feel or impact and dodging seemed pretty useless really. This last weekend felt completely different however. Things did feel more responsive and several attacks that needed it felt like they had more impact and dodging really gave the bit of breathing room you'd think it would give you. |

Not really a fan of griefing in general... but man that's just waaaaaay too funny! |

Today i woke up and just had an urge to play GW2 , Give us a beta weekend ???
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 5/18/12 9:27:27 AM
I do feel the urge to play but I also don't want to play much of it so I can keep the game fresh for launch. What I am dieing to know is, what have they done with all the feedback from the last beta? |
|

Certainly you probably won't see anything that's suppose to be in it until release but yes the home instance was in the game and is the first instance location you get sent to after the tutorial. |

anyone else think the combat left something to be desired?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 5/01/12 12:59:34 PM
I did like the gameplay but I do think several things still need to be tightened up in the game. I noticed I got a small delay on a lot of things unless I turned my graphics down to the lowest possible then I would get better responses. My system is pretty nice and I can run Tera and other high graphic games on their highest settiings without any issues but GW2 lagged and drop my FPS horriblly in a lot of places if I wasn't looking at the floor the whole time. I think most unresponsiveness we've seen is from the game not being completely optimized yet. Hopefully we'll see better play in up coming builds.

Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions (Archived) « Guild Wars 2 4/30/12 12:59:45 PM
I have to agree with pretty much all your points. I really enjoyed the game but there is a lot of room for polish, which I expect giving this is beta and we aren't even seeing the full game build yet.

My only real gripe
Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions (Archived) « Guild Wars 2 4/30/12 12:48:56 PM
I almost think there was a problem with the chat window and what it didn't pick up actually. I never seen anyone talk either and I wasn't sure I was heard when I did say something.

Not gonna do it.
Beta Weekend Event Reviews & Impressions (Archived) « Guild Wars 2 4/30/12 12:42:23 PM
I have to agree. I had a lot of fun with what I played and believe the game will be great. There are still different things I think they need to work on to get there though but I also believe that we will changes to those faults as the game progresses toward release. A-Net has certainly not been shy about making big and little changes to the game as they have developed it.

Some parts restricted during upcoming beta (27-29)?

They will put them in for testing when those areas are fleshed out more. Of course that also means either the game might be further off from release than we might think, depending on how complete they and how complete they want to make sure those zones are before release. There is also the worry that those zones won't be as fleshed out as the other by release. We'll just have to wait and see. |

Games you're looking forward too besides GW2
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/17/12 5:32:08 PM
Short term going to play Tera. It's mostly using the standard MMO game mechanics but I feel that they have done one of the better jobs of combing action game play and should be amusing for awhile. World of Darkness is a long-term look out as I hope that shapes up well and they keep the ideas they have put forth so far, like perma-death and player control. Played some Blade and Soul and while there is still a lot for them to do to it to make it better I can see what the core is like. While its a pretty game and brings some slightly different combat mechanics from what you normally see its still at its core the same sort of MMO you've played before. There is a lot of action in it, skills comboing together, but not enough reaction, like blocking and dodging, for a kung-fu feel and is mostly what I've played in other games before as far as game play feel. Shame about Warhammer 40k but while it felt like they were getting some things right, like vechiles controlled by players, I think they pretty much shot themselves in the foot when they decided to go for a 2 faction system. The Warhammer games just don't feel the same without it, and I'm not even a huge Warhammer fan, just think the setting and lore is cool. |

My fear... The Secret Hellgate DDO (only smaller)
General Discussion « The Secret World 4/09/12 6:06:19 PM
I have my own reservations about how Secret World is gonna be as well but I can also see it isn't just open world. I mean your not playing some adventurer. Your playing a person that is part of an organization and gets sent to certain locations when something comes up your organization wants you to check out. They is why a lot of the "dungeons" start off with what seems like LZ drops. I think the combat game play is going to be more of a let down but that's just from videos that I see, you can't really say until you actually play. There is suppose to be a lot of depth in the game but again that's something we can't really tell much about until getting our hands on it. |

I don't see this as much as being an issue of lore, though I can't say I'm in favor for it from a lore prespective either but its arguable. No, I see the issue in min-maxing. Once the classes start getting access to each others power there is going to be more generic play against other classes. I can only see it as more watering down of the game. |

Hellgate: A Great Action-MMO
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/21/11 10:58:11 AM
I have a really hard time taking this review seriously, the scores just seem bloated and it feels like they're contridictions in the review. The only score that feels honest is the Value. I mean, just look at the Innovation review: Frankly, Hellgate Global doesn’t do anything new. The majority of mechanics aren’t new. The idea of a futuristic demon world is definitely not common but is a new spin on an old idea. The game is doesn’t deviate too far from other hack and slash MMORPGs that we have come to expect from a large portion of the genre. Its biggest innovation is trying to blend the shooter with Diablo mechanics, and other games have done that better since. And yet it is scored a 7. Unless there was some recent super patch to the game, the game is dated and shallow, though you can see some gleams of potential of what could have been if the game was ever fully produced. If you want to pick up an old game or reminisce of what the title could have been I think you could have fun for a couple of days messing around. Unless you pay though, your just not gonna get much though and I think you can spend you dollar on something more worth your while.
I'd give it a 5, a nice idea but just doesn't hit the mark. Not bad for a quick time killer or just to check out for old times sake. |

Oh no, cleavage and belly buttons. What ever shall we do!
In all seriousness though, I don't see anything wrong with the pictures other than as someone noted the artist needs to brush up on their lessons. Other than that I mean, are you offended when you see a girl in a swimsuit? I'm not saying the ads are tasteful, there are ones that mix bit of sexyness and style tastefully, but its hardly offensive. |

Is anyone else a little turned off by the Personal Story?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 10/19/11 1:11:34 PM
I honestly don't see the problem. Why should they leave something out? What if I want to solo for a bit and just work on something myself. It always good to have game play options and having a peronsal story can help you feel more attached to your character. It doesn't take away from the Dynamic Events, just seems like it adds another layer of play that would be silly to take away. |

I always end up waiting about a year before picking up the Elder Scrolls games. Leaves plenty of time for people to mod it up which I like quite a bit and that alone gives so much replay value to those games compared to the current standard in MMOs. |

Spacemarines for me! Enjoying the game quiet a bit, even though it is on rails all the action and story going on while your playing keeps you focused pretty much I feel. Also the multiplayer is fun and the customization of your own Space/Chaosmarine, your loadouts and leveling and unlocking things is fun. May pick up Dead Island later on, it does look interesting. |
