Freakin' hilarious, thank you! |

Star Wars: TOR TRAILER! Watch it NOW!
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 6/01/09 9:18:05 PM
Cinematic trailers have to be good, they're meant to sell the product and make you drool. That being said, this one was particularly well done (though a little short). Though as posted on the Gametrailers site in the comments section, "EH. They could of just bombed the whole place from orbit in a few seconds; however, somehow that's not as cinematic." Hehe. On another note, it was just a typical "Evil is cool, come to the Dark Side because we have scarred guys with ventilators, crashing ships, Bounty Hunters, and cookies!" promo trailer. |

Glad to see both Jedi and Sith wearing some type of light, flexible armor, not just robes. Looks awesome. |

The Ability to Report People for "Stupidity / Misinformation"
Site Suggestions « General Discussion 6/01/09 3:05:29 PM
Basically, that's what a troll is, although normally trolls spread misinformation or make stupid posts in order to create a negative atmosphere, denounce their target game, or just because they're bored losers. You can call genuinely misinformed/stupid people "junior trolls" if you want, but in reality, those are the people we should educate, not report. Edit: If they refuse to be educated and continue to make misinformed/stupid posts, then that is also considered trolling and trolling is already reportable. |

Which games really need to close in this current state of unrest?

CCP "World of Darkness": Targeting 18-25 yr. FEMALE demographic
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/31/09 3:24:13 PM
(I know very little about this game). Wait, a vampire MMO targetted to 18-25 yr. FEMALES? What other "chick book" has vampires in it...oh God... Well, I think it's a different shift in direction and I hope it works out for CCP. Hell, my girlfriend thought EVE was boring, but I thought it was a pretty good game. EVE can be the boy's game, and WoD can be the girl's. |

Which games really need to close in this current state of unrest?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/31/09 3:20:42 PM
I'm not sure I'm following your reasoning here. You assume that if a game has to close, you'd rather it be a "crappy" game than "one that deserves to keep its doors open". However, if the game is crap, it'll naturally have less subs than a "game that deserves to keep its doors open". That's how the market works - if you don't make money because you don't have a good enough product, you will have to close shop. Maybe you're suggesting that these bad games take subs away from the good ones, because inevitably, some people will find those games enjoyable. Unlike Wild West towns, though, the market is big enough for the two of them. Most people are going to choose the better product and if enough people do that, the lesser will eventually close down. No one needs to go around spreading the message that "X game should be closed down!"... it will happen on its own. If two games, one good or decent and one terrible, were put into a life or death cagematch with their quality as their only weapons, then I think this thread would make sense. But it's not just that simple, bad economy or not. |

I spent totaly of about 3 hours on this siege, not to even mention the hours spent harvesting mats for the cannons, horses, gear that was used. we won the siege and second later the game did not crash, it was purposefully taken down, because there was a message saying the server was being shutdown. the game was rolled back about a minute and the city was lost. once again... I love this game, but this is unacceptable.

Well, I don't "HATE" Aion, I'm not very interested in it at the moment. But one of my big turnoffs is the overall style. Girly men, rediculously sized weapon and over-the-top, glowy, shiny WoW-esque armor, and ballerina combat? No thanks. I know it's Asian, but really. Graphics, though, are respectably good, even if the style isn't for me. |

Wow. I think rhinok just became my new forum hero. He plays the game, but he has a brain? Call Dr. Tasos, one escaped from the funny farm! He is still capable of rational thought! Also, hilarious title. I guess tomorrow morning will be an epic sunset in Darkfall, too. Big battles are always nice, I suppose, even in a game like Darkfall. |

FUNCOM EVENT: Spectacular 1 year event in AoC - And the disaster goes on....
General Discussion « Age of Conan 5/24/09 10:09:15 PM
You'd figure that if a large group of people are in consensus, you should at least consider what they're saying instead of labeling them as "whiners". Now, about this whole thing, it's pretty funny. I'd rather they celebrated their one year anniversary with 1.05, instead of a botched event like this. |

Official news: all the haters have played Darkfall! Suggestions on the future development
General Discussion « Darkfall 5/23/09 11:11:44 AM
Originally posted by Loke666 Well, that can actually be balanced also. But IRL walking in a full armor is heavy work, if you ever spent a day in one you know what I am talking about. On the other hand, I wouldn't want to get into battle without one because it takes only one cut or stab to either kill or at least hurt a person without armor badly, while you can spend 30 minutes hitting someone in real plate. Real knights have a horse and lance evening out the odds, problem is that longbow men can get thru their armor on a good hit. On the other hand they need a good hit so I prefer being the knight in that scenario anyways. MMO devs don't know how much incredibly better you get in a real armor but it of course have it's disadvantages also. If you put in movement penalties you just have to balance up that by making the armor better like it actually is. Unless someone have a black powder gun of course, then you are screwed. Pikes are also annoying if you are on a horse. While all of that is true, range will always have the advantage. And I think you can never truly balance melee vs. ranged on a one vs. one scale, because unless every melee player has a horse with mounted combat being possible (which, of course, ranged people would consider OP), they will eventually die from ranged fire. It's only balanced in real life because battles were never 1 vs. 1, 12 vs. 12, or even 100 vs. 100. If you have a line of several hundred infantry advancing towards an enemy that's shooting at you, many of your men will die. Quality of armor determines how many, but still, it's only balanced when there are massive numbers. Even if you lose a third of your men in that group, they will be able to advance to the ranged enemy and cut them down (because ranged should definitely be very weak against melee). Class balance is tricky - no kidding. If we want realistic combat, big battles, we'll have to get used to dying, teamwork, etc. Of course, that goes against the whole mentality of an RPG - having YOUR character. And it'll undoubtedly bring up complaints of "LOL no Death Penalty, I'm too much of a masochist to play this noob game!" Anyways, those are just my thoughts. This whole thread is quite rediculous, I've only seen one "valid" response so far, but some funny pictures. |

Any info on if space battles, ships etc. will be a main function in this?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/14/09 9:16:05 PM
Originally posted by Battleskar You know how many cranky "good ol' days" vets will burn you alive for saying that? They have wet dreams about another (pre-NGE) SWG game. Even though Bioware has not suggested that TOR will be like SWG. To OP, yeah, I hope so too. The ships during Luke's time were always goofy, but the ships from the newer Star Wars movies are sleeker, faster, and more "spacey", so I hope to see (and be able to fly!) some of those in-game.
I am a Day 1 SWG vet,and believe me,I do not want to see another game like it. I played SWG,in its pre-cu,cu and NGE states,Been there done that. I am looking for a new game experience and it looks like Kotor Online might be on to somthing. Oh no! The indiscriminate power of assumption has forsaken me once again. Sorry. I get what you're saying, though, and I hope you understand the point I was trying to get across. No doubt you've noticed it as well. |
