Diablo 3: Hello, My Friend. Stay Awhile & Listen
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/11/11 2:28:08 AM
this is for a reason. single player games have your account information stored "locally", meaning the files are all on your computer. the single player option intends to take your multiplayer account and allow you to play with or without other people(to avoid cracked versions of the free version, we all know how greedy blizzard is). now, imagine someone managed to hack these character files and had the ability to edit their levels, items, etc., then logged into the multiplayer game with an extremely op char. sounds like fun, right? by storing the char files on a server, instead of locally, they prevent this; thus, an internet connection will better secure the game.
if you're so keen on playing an online game alone, well.. go buy an xbox360, or a ps3. |

This game is developed by PWE. A year after PWE opened their NA branch with 'Perfect World', they changed the game entirely. End-game gear(the best obtained, and the previous methods to obtain it now disabled), was now available through a gamble-box available in the cash shop. Anyone willing to drop money into the game could easily get everything they'll ever need without any effort. They release these boxes in a form of "event", so they're only obtainable for a certain amount of time. I assume this is a business tactic to make people spend more, but it doesn't help that the "event" is every other week. Even leveling was changed drastically after introducing new 'EXP' item to the cash shop that increase your exp gain by 1200% for one hour(with a start and pause button..).
I'm not sure why players toss so much money into PWE games. In the pwi server I could bare to play for awihle, some players spent upwards of $60k usd on their characters.. for what? To be unrealistically stronger than anyone around them. To even know you can spend $60k upgrading your character in this game should be enough of a turn-off to any real gamer. I'll stick to private servers for games like this.
gullable fools.
I'm surprised anyone thought they would do anything different this time around. As per their previous titles, they release new "games", test content in them(ethersaga, genies; jade dynasty, tideborn; forsaken world, genesis), then implement it into perfect world as "expansions" if people approve. Forsaken world will be forgotten soon, just like the previous. PWE is just milking it for everything it's worth. |
