Either troll or slow in the wits, in which case I apologize.

.. yeah.. must be slow because I thought aventurine was an honest company..

Haven't been playing do to horrible ping, change in family, and just straight frustration with aventurine. I bought the game about a month after it came out, was pissed when I was so far behind due to exploits and macroing that aventurine "fixed", terrible and ping, then decided that I didn't like playing the game the way it was currently .. And from the looks of it.. I am still not going to be playing Darkfall.

Hmm.. again loose speak covers the butts of a lying company..

If I wanted to play DF on the NA server, I'd be charged another 50 bucks if I wanted to play today?  My only other option would be to wait till transfers are available?..

I'm not a hater, i'm just being realistic about that crappy game.   When a company lies and lies and takes over 10 years to release a game that has 1% of what was promises, dont you have the right to be disapointed in them ?   Game is a POS period.   To answer the OP question, the whole MMO genre right now is very dull and boring.  It's all seems to be the same old thing all over again.   So i havent played a MMO in over 6 months.  Right now i'm playing Fallout 3.

You start with  "I'm not a hater" and every statement follows contradict  that.

"Fallout 3" is not even a MMO.

Darth,

The OP doesn't say MMO.  He says GAME.  I understand that english isn't your first language, but Game is NOT the same as MMORPG.  An MMORPG is a type of GAME just as FPS is a type of GAME.

And I'm playing AC.  Have you ever tried to play a Martyr mage?? it ain't easy..   Or fun.  I'm also playing a mace guy with no melee D as it's useless in the first few levels anyways (no stamina..)

Unlike you the poster i quoted has a better understanding on the nature of the question.

See  here

"To answer the OP question, the whole MMO genre right now is very dull and boring."

Because he was not able to find something enjoyble MMO game he has to play single player game.

I just point that out, the fact that he has to refer to another genre is to understand that way that  poster dont like MMO in general not DF in particullar.

The nature of the question, and is actually asked are two different things.  One might say I like cars, and in context, someone else might say.. Hot wheels aren't my thing..

The point is.. with the context of the question, you point out the Fallout isn't an MMO.. which was never the question.  It was .. "What game are you playing". I spoke nothing to the person's post you quoted, in regards to the reply that you made.  And, in the MMORPG forums, the topic was game, and we'll classify that as the computer/console type of game.

And the only difference between fallout and DF, in regards to genre, is the MMO part.  both are classified by their respective makers as -RPG.

As for me DF has ben released with the "right" set of features and i don't miss anything.

Would be some funny experience to not be able to hit cause wind has carried my arrow away from the target or it would annoy me, i am sure many would whine about that too, would be neat to see someone run to his house in safety .,.no..no these would annoy me, i dont want that in.

Would be neat to set a trap to catch a bear, it would annoy me to see every meter around my city and every gate plastered with traps.

It would be neat having a pet or NPC do the work for me, i guess it would annoy YOU having to deal with my NPC army/summons.

It would be cool if i could run as fast as a mount as mahirim then you guys, would it forced you to choose mahirim too so everyone would be mahirim ?

It would be cool if anyone just sell things to anyone without having to meet , oh wait...

I think the developers cut off the right features and delivered a better experience.

Darth, you have to be honest with yourself.  If Darkfall crashed your computer, stole your car, and kicked your ass, you'd love it.  If Tasos through paint at a wall, drew a stick figure and wrote "I pvp" over his head.. You'd love it.

I like the graphics in Darkfall.  They are nice. and do the job well.  I also like the graphics in AC.. they serve their purpose.

I never found the game to be .. lacking becaues of the things it promised.  It was lacking due to the repeditive game play.  It's amateurish at best.  A game is supposed to be fun, not a grind to experience the game.  The game rewarded cheaters.. and continues to by not fixing things that were exploited without the help of 3rd party programs.  The lack of actual content makes the game feel very grindy.  I found myself logging on, killing skeltons for 15 minutes to level up my skills by .01 point (that is assuming I didn't die and lose my store bought weapon), taking the loot and either selling it or putting it in the bank, then repeating.  The only thing I had to look forward to was eventually being able to compete with the guys who macro'd all night with their newb weapons to level up their skills, exploited game mechanics to gain large stores of cash, weapons, and armor, and.. in some cases.. cheating still.

It's not the concept behind Darkfall that takes away from the game, it's the development crew that does it.

I've been tempted to try this game for awhile now,but i have certain concerns seeing how i am not a hardcore player.Slightly interested in some PVP altercations.I love the idea of no classes and no levels.

1.When i first read about this game years ago it said it would cater to everyone from the hardcore to the causal?Seeing the many reviews can someone casually enjoy this game?

It's difficult to enjoy casually.  The game requires a lot of time to make a character viable, and really have any fun.

2.Since i don't have a ton of time is their mobs i can solo after a hard day at work other then goblins.

There are "Goblin" like mobs you can also solo.  They have a different loot table, cast the same spells, and use the same tactics.

The non-"Goblin" mobs can't really be solo'd unless you exploit them somehow.

3.i don't understand how adding quests would make this game care bearish?Since i love quests in any game.

Basically, the equation is- Anything that makes the game less player driven = Carebear.  NPCs mean you'll be doing less PvP because you'll be questing.  Therefor, you're a carebear.

4.Is getting a group easier in DF then others?Cause  when i want a group in other mmo's i can never manage to get into one.

I found that in a lot of hunting spots (where you aren't RPK'd) it's easier to get into a group.  You'll have to get away from the newb areas though.  Those areas are a haven for new players that think PvP is the point of the game, and not a feature.  I guess they are right.  And also the higher level gank squads they are tired of the lack of content.

5 When your skill improves does the effectiveness of that skill get a little better ? Or is it like they say that it only gets better at 25,50,75,100?

You are correct.  You won't deal any more damage with your spells/skills until you hit the 25/50/75/100 marks.

I am somewhat of a carebear, but i am willing to have my ass kicked in a world that seems as free as DF.

You'll have your ass kicked a lot.  You'll get angry when you run back from killing and get owned by some guy in full banded who 10 shots you.   Then you'll get camped just because the griefer can't kill anyone his own level -- err -- character progression.

OP you learned all those things cause you not good gamer. You did all those things cause of your inability to play the game. You want the quickiest and dirtiest way to become "ubber" instead of playing and enjoy the game. I did not the things you did and i am now approaching my 4th month of fun :)

I guess no one in your clan macro'd.. or took advantage of any of the numerous bugs..

Players who have more skill should win in pvp, however its not the rule in darkfall. in more cases its the exception to the rule, unless said player also has the time to train skills. That said, pvp isnt even the issue, and frankly is the only bright spot in the game. the problem isnt that the pvp in darkfall is bad, its that all the supporting elements, and game mechanics in non pvp aspects of the game are complete failures. broken, or at best horribly unbalanced. This reinforces the scenario that  he who has the most time generally wins, be in resource farming, charecter development, arms race development, etc all win. those who have less time are penalized, and exponentially penalized over time so that at some point the majority will just give up. There is no slippery slope mechanic in this game to balance out the ability for a player or guild to jump back from the loss.

What we end up with is a very steep vertical progression ,rather then a horizontal progression which means the majority of players will never really accept this game. I still play this game, and love the pvp and siege aspects, although siege mechanics are horribly broken. however anyone who has played online games at all for a few years can take a look and see where this product is heading, unless very intensive changes are made, and very soon.

There are many valid reasons why people don't like darkfall, unfortuntely the end result is that the canibals start eating themselves as you can see more and more with the current situation on EU1. You can already see it by the mass slaughter that occurs daily in the newbie areas. you can see it with the mass exodus of starving sheep, and the non hardcore. The developer can spin it anyway they want, but the simple fact is that they have massive issues and very little time to fix them, or this game ends up in the same boat as TR, basically Dead in a year.

Right..

Players who cheated their way to the top are doing better than those who didn't.  so, instead of rewarding those who didn't cheat to get a head, AV punishes them by basically saying, "The loot you didn't dupe will most likely be taken by those who did.  The newb weapons that the cheaters used to level up with, are now also garbage."

PvP in Vanguard is not good.  The PvP server is not doing well.  Vanguard is very much a PvE-centric game.

This..

PvP in this game (on Sartok) usually winds up with who has the best Non GCD macro set up.

There are some OP classes as well, and when 3 of them gang up on you, and they lose nothing if they die (because of the level difference).. the game gets not fun.

And Sartok is dead.  Last time I was there, it seemed like there were less than 50 people logged in.. and the world is huge..

I will occasionally log into WoW on free servers. Usually for about an hour every two months.

I tried WAR again, and just as I predicted, all of the low level content doesn't get played, and finding groups in the low level areas is next to impossible.  All of my characters were transferred to a different server, and my guild is on a different server.  I tried the new classes, but it's not nearly as interesting as it was before.  I need to cancel before my free 10 days is over.

I read about AC almost weekly.  The game still holds a great appeal.  None of the hold your hand crap, loot from every almost every kill (some of it is useful, some of it's not.  But, it can always be a fall back if you drop your good stuff).  the graphics are still out dated, but just like how you remember your first girlfriend.. it still has it's beauty.

I haven't looked at AOC due to the way I left.  Disappointed.

VG is dead.  Too dead.

AO is the same.  Great game in theory, but the world just feels dead, and has for the past 2 years.

I'm not a big console fan.

I think that's about it.

If you quit, are you playing WoW.

I am.
I was told to.

A lot.
Did you?

No.  WoW rots the brain.

I'm disappointed in you.

There was no "Eleventy" option.  How can you have a poll with no "Eleventy" option??

Well.. you were in the wrong guild and therefor cannot have an opinion* about darkfall.

*A darkfall opinion is only allowed to be positive.  Since you did not qualify your self with being in the "right" guild,  you are wrong.  Any thoughts or feelings you expressed are wrong.

Umm, does DF even have "guilds"?  RM, you should probably proofread your QQ.

In computer and video gaming, a clan or guild is a group of players who regularly play together in a particular (or various different) multiplayer games . These games range from groups of a few friends to 1000-person organizations, with a broad range of structures, goals and members. ...

Actually, No. Darkfall has these forums.  The only requirements are:

  • Must say "butthurt" in at least one thread a day.
  • Must insult anyone who disagrees.  These insults can include any realm except race.  Feel free to use homosexual slurs
  • Must know how to use the word "owned" (pwned, pwnzrd), also, when speaking  aloud you must pronounce is po-uh-n-d

I'm just a Darkfall Fanboy.  If there is anything negative posted about Darkfall, then it's wrong.  There is only one way to play Darkfall.. and only one way to like it.  You MUST like Darkfall, or you are nothing but a troll, who's not ready for Darkfall.  You probably also played wow a whole whole bunch, and grew up with the instant gratification.  So, any review that I see that's positive is DEAD ON to what Darkfall is.  and any negative review is completely out of source where the review didn't play Darkfall long enough, or didn't join the right clan.

Seem about right?

First of all, I try to not personally insult others for their own views and opinions and I already acknowledged the problems of Darkfall but at the same time Darkfall has given me a completely different experience from MMOs. Before I got into DFO, I jumped around games every week or few weeks but when I played DF for the first time I knew it was the game for me.

You are just bsing with that because it is completely untrue. I call trolls those who purposely exaggerate the problems in a game in order to justify their own views. I still don't understand why people dislike Darkfall because every other game I have played was far worse. I feel lucky that a game like this is finally released despite the bugs and unpolishedness.

You've called anyone who doesn't fully support Darkfall a Troll.. GTFO already.. shouldn't you be playing your beloved game??

Sure, everything else being equal a character with higher skills should defeat a player with lower skills.

This is the problem.

The skill gains are from AFK'ing it (no, not everyone.. but the ratio that seperates the do's from the don'ts is VERY large), thus the guy who cheated to gain an advantage will hold that advantage until the noncheating/late comer is equal.  And who knows how long that will be?  The game is still new, yet there are people still doing the "high level" content.  And that's sieging??   One thing you can count on from a PvP game is cheating.. that I know.. but, unlike most companies that reset the cheaters.. AV decided to "fix" it.. Sorry.. no good.

P.S.: i know you ended your post mentioning that many people are enjoying the game like myself.  My post wasn't really directed at you outside of the very first part but more generally towards the anti-VG peeps on this board who have very stereotyped images of Darkfall fans and don't believe that any semi-normal person could possibly like this game.

The majority of the anti-DF (I think that's what you meant.. ) are people who haven't played the game.  And there's nothing wrong with you IF you like Darkfall.  I haven't read most of those reasons you gave for like Darkfall. Only the "You haven't played it long enough" and the "You're on Tasos Payroll".

Yes, they "fixed" exploits.. but that doesn't solve the problem.  Subs aren't increasing an an alarming rate.  On the contrary, I believe (I have no proof) that they are decreasing.  Thus, the people playing aren't new players, but old players who took advantage of the exploits and that disallows new players from being on the same playing field.  Tasos/AV says Darkfall is a game of skill.. which is not as true as they lead you to believe.  Fact: Higher stats mean more damage.  More Damage means faster kills.

Given people of equal skill, The one with the better weapon wins.

On a side note, I played on Sartok as well in VG.  And the rapid transport REALLY killed the world size.  I wanted a game where horses mattered.  Alas.. they changed that.  I actually stopped getting higher level mounts on my higher level characters because they weren't needed.  In areas where you had to travel far, it made more sense to rent a flying mount and just fly to the rift stone..  Or in some cases, just kill your way out there.
