EQOA - still my favorite MMORPG

Yeah, you're right about everything you posted. However, around the time that the expansion was released, this was a very good game. All of the new implements that you talk about were added because EQOA's plunged dramatically, and the devs just didn't care about the game enough. Only EQOA diehards play now. Those same EQOA diehards would disagree that EQOA is "a waste of money", simply because they've enjoyed the game up intil now. I think most people on this thread would agree with you everything you say, but then again, most people on this thread have moved on and just reminisce about the great game that was EQOA. |

EQOA - still my favorite MMORPG

This is one of the best MMORPG i've ever played (maybe because it was my first MMORPG). The community is incredible, and even though I never got to 60, I still had a lot of fun. I had no idea that people still played EQOA. They increased the monthly fee, so I'm not sure if I can come back and level up to 60 lol. |

You're right. The only game I played that was similar to UO (from what I have heard) in the sense of "no levels" was SWG, which is possibly the best MMORPG I have ever played. I was too young for UO, but I heard that it was great. EQ is good, but the same thing over and over again is lame. I just think that the consumers are afraid of change and that the businesses are afraid to change their style for the reason that they might lose money. |

I was wrong in saying that "one cannot argue that". The graphics are a matter of opinion, like you said. However, I personally dislike the graphics ( I am basing this on one of the newest DF videos - the one you have to download). The lighting is decent, the shadows are decent, but I think the animations are elementary. The blood effects, for example, do not look very good to me. But then again, you have to remember that Adventurine took the project over from another company and that they are relatively new to the "gaming scene". They are not experienced (again, relative to other companies) in programming, etc. But hey, maybe the dumbed down graphics are for a reason (large scale battles would lag with better graphics, for instance). I don't think the graphics will compare to whatever comes out in early '09. Again, this is my opinion that I am just voicing -- I am sure that the gameplay outweighs the graphics.

Yeah, DF graphics are bad -- can't argue with that. But the gameplay is supposedly good. |

Sony Wants You Playing MMOs on Your TV

In respect to console vs PC, I own a PS3 and am very happy with the quality of gameplay and graphics. I have played many PC MMORPGS as well as two PS2 MMORPGS (Everquest online and FFXI) and found that the differences are slim -- At time I have enjoyed the ps2 MMORPGs (EQOA) more than the PC MMORPGS, and vice versa (SWG). I have been hoping for a good PS3 MMORPG since I bought my PS3, but I don't think that The Agency nor Home can fulfill my expections. Unfortunately for us PS3 MMORPG'ers, it may still be some time before we will get a good MMORPG from SOE. On the issue of PC Gaming vs Console gaming, keep in mind that the PS3 has USB which can be used to connect a keyboard and a mouse (however I don't think that this will be required) so there should not be that much of a difference. Also, I personally feel more secure with the prospect of playing a MMORPG on my PS3 than on my PC, simply because I use my PS3 for gaming purposes only and my PC is more likely to become "infected" or crash. Anyways, thats just my 2 cents. |
