rift is by all means a raid or pvp game.
if you care about exciting leveling, well ... mmo's arent for you. at least i havent found 'the great' leveling experience yet.
If you go into pvp smashing your beloved button (which i dont understand at all, haveing gcd and such ...) you'll get face rolled like all those other button smashers.
diversity in the small scale is Rifts top feature - there are lots of cc's, counter cc's and de/buffs to get, you can do everything in 10 different ways (yes, its only small differences, enough for me).
Then again: am i waiting for more innovative combat (like AoC's)? - yes, sure!
Did i know what i get, and is it fun (Rift)? - yes, sure.

as 99,9% of mankind is hardly intelligent enough to breath alone, all mmo-communities are bad ;)

europe server communities dont seem overly bad to me. people are dumb as bread these days - in and out of the internet - but who cares? they are amusing, if not, turn off chat. OP: you got other problems than your gaming anyway, not? ;) one who gets pissed that easily and has to point out his age should find out what really buggers him - and if its RIFT .. well you know Darwin.

besides everything the OP is saying is plain worng, the main error is that Tera will fail even harder then most korean shit, because of the overhype ;) |

every serious mmo-addict will at least try it. i personally dont know anybody in my current guild who didnt preorder. Its new, its fresh - and in opposite to all the crap of the last years, its good. |

when will people find out that to make a good game in the mmo genre, you dont have to re-invent the mmo genre? only because you can spell "innovation" that doesn't mean that every good game has to be something completely new! people are just insensitive to good games, because they are flooded with crap. you wouldnt see a good game if it hits you in the face. RIFT is WARWoWLotro 2.0 and therefore it will be succesfull. Like a new, better made actionblockbustermovie with better actors than the last 500 actionblockbustermovies will be another success. every summer. |

RIFT; the result of unoriginal/non creative game developers -- a review from a beta tester

Originally posted by fhjais you type a wall of text titling it "critique" -- but there is none. you point out obvious similarities - but you dont say why they would be bad. its not only you, but many. where is your problem? you know, most first person shooters use a crosshair - most often they look exactly the same! doesnt define the game though, does it? |

A polished AAA sandbox would get 50% of the market and dominate alongside WOW.

sandbox is a really small, but vocally loud, niche. no one cares for them. 50% lol ... |

i dont care what engine they are using at all - they are using the right one. beeing able to hit a giant mob in midst of an invasion with hundreds of players, mobs, environments without lagging and never under 20 FPS on ultra settings is just insane performance that wasnt brought to us in that quality before. period. |

many great posts here. what many people see wrong here imo, is that the 'masses' are looking for something overall new! the 'masses' of players cant even handle something slightly new! they want an actualized, shiney, polished version of the same old story, with some good ideas thrown in. it will take years till most of the players will even be able to handle the "omg this cleric can tank, this mage can heal, ..." system. beta prooved that.
Rift delivers. my estimation is that it will 'beat' SWTOR by far in numbers for example. |

AoC combat is the way to go. Everything else on the market is just sleeping pills. |
