lol, pvp rage in a pve game. i like you guys, you are funny.

as most here, i think its a clear 7.

A great game with potential for the years to come. And you should have separated PvP from PvE - as neither the devs, nor the vast majority of the players cares for pvp.

I have played lots of MMORPGs, and since the PVE aspects of the games are largely the same between all of them,

If you see that as a problem (which you might not), then perhaps you should try a little more variety in the games you play.

No, I don't see this as a problem.  I take this just as evidence I'm simply not a PVE player any more.  There are plenty of people that love WoW, Rift, and SWTOR because of the PVE aspects of their games, so I'll take that as evidence that those games must have pretty good PVE.

I think you'll find among PVPers though that Rift's PVP was almost universally hated.

i'd be very interested which game's (AAA mmo) PvP isn't universally hated?

The last i know of was DAOC, and from my personal experience, the stories about its pvp are nostalgically blurred. The last game that even TRIED to cater to PvPers was WAR. My point: there is no reasonable pvp in todays mainstream games, and there is a reason for that. As a dev you can either focus on the vast majority (casual PvE'ers, raiders) or try to handle a bunch of very vocal, not to satisfy (as in: its not possible) PvP'ers. I'd just forget about pvp in themepark games. There are pvp games out there, youll be happier there (GW, DO, MO, EVE). Lol, even BF3 has a gear gap nowadays ...

These are our proud "pvp'ers" lol.

if they have fun - who cares? PvE is great.

well, all the great 'problems' are about pvp. now, no one cares for pvp, so its still a great game ;)

Some people really beg to be imagined as the fat light-saber kid, sobbing over a mmorpg.com newsletter lol.

how nerdish can you be ...

TRION will be the benchmark for fast delivered quality patches/content for years to come.

its just .. Many of us need a break from fantasy before GW2 and TSW hits next year i guess ;)

edit: and yes, i'm aware that star wars is more fantasy than anything, but a slight change of scenery is welcome ^^

there are 12 'A new Hope' guilds already lol

Although I have been associated with the forums and the community TOR launched their website, I never had the slightest interest in joining a pre-launch guild. It has been my experience with things of this nature that most pre-launch guilds that aren't direct carry-overs from other MMORPGs disintegrate within a matter of months, because while the people who make them up a generally able to get along with one another out of game and while leveling, skill disparities become grossly obvious at the level cap. Jimmy X. might be a fine guild leader and organizer, but when it comes to playing his human Sorcerer, he's completely lost. Sadly, several of Jimmy X.'s officer actually do know wheat they're doing, and after a couple of wipes on entry-level group content at the endgame, they secretly conspire to harvest the guild of all talent and form a new, more elite team.

It's a pattern you see unfold on almost every launch server in new games and, to a lesser degree, on new servers that are created post-launch. People find folks that they enjoy being chummy with, get along just great while leveling, and then realize that they simply can't tolerate bads once they max their character out.

Most of your launch guilds? They aren't going to be there in 2-3 months. It'll be a nice little ride, and you'll meet a few good people. But unless you completely suck, be prepared to be poached by a guild that knows what they are doing... and accept the offer when it comes.

why do you actually think that most of the pre-order guild AREN'T carry-overs? i bet they are.

btw, for me the server-search is seriously bugged, i wouldnt bet on any info from that side. actually the list that pops up when you press your server in your guild tab is in no way the guilds that are on the very same server.

Greetings - TFCoL, the oldest AoC guild is on Hidden Beks too.

We call it the 'where-is-my-beer-server' already ...

They did very well until now, so they got a good reputation, im sure they have high-res on their table and we will get it, when it is good.

I am quite sure you are right.

I hope you are right.

This thread is hopeless, The OP has already stated his hatred for SWTOR days and weeks ago. The people who dislike SWTOR graphics will never change their mind and assume the graphics are better than 95% of MMO's out there like I do. Not to mention the OP started this thread by asking questions no one could possibly answer.

I'd recommend just cutting these few people as a loss and not bother wasting your time and effort trying to show a better version of graphics they have no intention of liking or respecting.

Yes, lets move away of the facts, that will make things all that better.

You know the difference between facts & opinions or truth and personal preferences? No? when you google it and become more knowledgable come back and I'd consider giving you another 5 seconds of my time in reply.

well, if we play the game of facts vs. opinion, we got some people here that state that we havent seen high rez textures. on the other hand we got some rant from you about sw:tor gfx beeing 'better than 95% of the mmos' (you know). and now go away, this was a pleasant, constructive discussion without you lil redneck.

good to see that its not only me that is constantly annoyed by those 'aaaaw so vet' and 'aaaaaw so unfortunate' swg whiseassers. man up and get over it. We have seen hundreds of mmo-disasters while you were still crying over your first ;D

I have a question...is the conflict between the Sith and Republic going to matter or is the war between the two as static as the game?   Will the game eventually allow for sides to actually make a difference with how a server progresses?   If Bioware adds something...anything remotely to this game the resembles players playing out the conflict between the Imps and the Republic I would be all over that in a heartbeat.

Add some means for players to actually you know..have an impact on what the games story is about.   Like this...

SW:ToR Sacking of Coruscant Intro Cinematic  <<< clciky

SW:ToR Hope Cinematic <<< clicky

Will this game have any type of conquest game play where players will actually have an impact on the story?  Or is it all going to be as static as the MOB's standing waiting to be slaughtered?

You played the game and know the answer.

We know that you know.

You know that we know you know.

Of course I know...I am opening a debate on a "what if" scenario...you know..what if Bioware did something god forbid "different" and innovative.   Imagine the possibilites and the game play that would occur.   That would be so epicly awesome..."For the Republic!" would actual mean something.

c'mon, thats so naive .. players having impact on a gameworld ... lol. we missed that train some years ago. now we get what we deserve. 'We' voted by our wallets.

What they had in BETA should be the lowest graphical settings. I have no issue with people having lower end systems. They'll always have the option to turn the settings down so that they can play. Meanwhile some of us mid to higher end users would like an ultra graphical settings because we spent good money to get the most visually out of our games as well as performance.

Not every game is made to be Farcryish in pushing graphics to new heights.

It seems like you may be looking for that in the wrong genre.

Why? LOTRO has it!  Age of Conan has it!  Hell, even old EQ2 has it! As long as your system can handle it, you are able to beef up the graphic settings to your liking!

It's giving people choice and options.

exactly - stylised, cartoonish gfx are in no way related to bad, low-rez textures. there are no excuses.

I hate to say it, but it is normal with betas to not include the prettiest textures for download size constraints and all that. It's been done before many times in popular MMOs. The "uh oh" is that the launch client is supposedly about 2 gigs smaller than the beta client. o_0

interesting - name one.

I don't think i missed an AAA Beta the last years, no one kept their textures back ;)

Either its really the often mentioned high res-settings means low rez textures due to a bug, or they do it like WoW to appeal to a broader audience. Annoying voice overs won't help them for long in that case ...

Funny, I recall people saying the same thing when Wow and EQ2 came out. Wows graphics are too cartoony, blah blah.. EQ2 is prettier etc etc etc.

And here we are with Wow being the for good or bad inarguably most successful MMORPG of all time, and even now 7 years down the line games with far far more advanced graphics like Rift and Aion holding on to a minority share of the market. Hrmm..

But yes, I suspect.. in fact I think I read... they graphics were designed to run on current mid range systems. And they do .. very well. I also seem to recall a developer conversation (I really should look it up, but I'm lazy) where it was stated they were trying to follow the KOTOR graphics style, as well as taking inspirational ques from TCWs. Again.. for the better or worse.

I personally think people over fixate on the textures as being the 'only' aspect to graphics.. for one.. I personally don't think they are that bad.. but the games lighting and shadows for me was excellent... on par with any other MMO I've played (and I play alot..). And the effects were quite good also. So meh. Opinions, different tastes I guess. But hrmm.. concidering how many people played the beta and pre-ordered off the experience there in.. I'm gonna guess the graphics arn't gonna be such a 'killer' as every purposes.

the difference is: WoW's low rez graphics were (and are) amazing and run on every machine. "Cartoony" doesnt mean just low poly counts and washy textures. SW:TORs graphic plainly sucked in every aspect during the betas i played + performance was bad. they got a lot to do (i'm sure/hope they will).

Every game that comes out is merely made for children, so im wondering where these game sthat the majority of gamers (adults) are buying have gone? since, you know, according to the internet every games made for children.

I'm 37 and all of my favorite shows are on cartoon network.  A child (call it what you want) is one of many components of my psyche. This is really not a problem for me. When my 7 year old goes to sleep I play with his lego and he thinks it's really funny to wake up to scenes from Halo rendered in plastic bricks. Where are all these childrens games going? To adults with imaginations of course.

you sir, are my hope for mankind. at least on the internet :P

thx, good statement!

Guilds......Deployed.......Identifies me as an EU player

Im in on 13th at 12.00..........

600k pre orders = anyone coming in the first EU 300k got to get 13th early access I reckon.

You already got your early access letter? Everything points to them going out on Tuesday (including Bioware). It's not that your guild will be deployed 13th at 12.00? When did you pre-order?

I think BW has been really clear.

Guild deployment on servers will be confirmed today. No pre-order invites will go out until 13th at the earliest. Just because someone has their guild deployed does not mean they will get access to it and the servers from the 13th, they will be in-line like anyother non-guild pre-order player and so will get on....when they get on.

I think I will get ea on 13th becasue I preordered fairly early and i am in europe.

i think they have to be inviting playersfrom eu and usa concurrently or you couldget someoen in EU thatordered early yet gets invite for EA after aUSa playerthatordered laterthan them

Thye have to open up a lot of servers on the 13th becasue they have deployed guilds and any player could be in any guild and ordered early

If they have to open a lot of servers on the 13th then they may as well have a large number of invites go out on the 13th becasue those players will be spread (via guild) over a lot of servers thus reducing the load.

Having waves of invites isnt going to help them much becasue just becasue someoen has an invite doesnt mean they will or can act on it immediately.

So servers will get relatively busy at the traditional core times regardless of waves (which almost defeats the objective of waves) inthe first couple of days.

you confuse what you hope with what reality is like ;)

it'll be as every launch: falmes, waiting, crashes, and wasted hours :D

"I preordered early" lol. you fail to see that hundreds of thousands of people preordered IN the second it was available. if you aren't one of those, consider you happy if you play by friday ...

Whatever for me after Vanguard it was the best MMOG outthere. If you really think easymode games such as AOC, LOTRO or Warhammer were challenging than nothing to discuss here.

lil off-topic, but AoC has the most challenging dungeons in any mmo by far. there are very few gamers actually, that have beaten all of the content (and not only because of silly bugs :P ).
