Guild Wars 2 transformed in a cash cow...:(
Reviews & Impressions « Guild Wars 2 12/08/12 3:36:32 PM
Originally posted by RedJorge Once again your response is repetittive, meaningless, and pointless (congratulations!). Why should I read the offical forums? I have no reason to do so. It's you that has a problem with this, not me, and by the look of it most of the people who've responded to this thread have the same mindset as myself. You telling me to 'read the official GW2 Forums' is like me telling you to go read the back of a shreddies box because it has important nutritional information. Are you going rush off and do that? I don't think so, even though I'm telling you to do it. |

TESO up for pre-order on gamestop.com
General Discussion « Elder Scrolls Online 12/08/12 2:59:52 PM
I personally don't plan to even consider purchasing this title until at least three months have passed after it's launched, after the hype has died down, the content locusts have run amok and moved on, and the player base stablises. Then I'll look at the reviews and decide if it's worth trying. Hopefully they have a 10-14 day free trial. After the let downs that were AoC, STO, and SWTOR I'm not about to throw my money away again.

Guild Wars 2 transformed in a cash cow...:(

Originally posted by RedJorge But this is just your OPINION RedJorge, and it's something you seem willfully oblivious to. If someone decides to invest their money into something, that's their business and their right to do so. It's their money not yours. They obiously don't see it as a 'rip-off' or they wouldn't pay it. They doin't feel the world is lifeless, or that their money is 'going down the drain', or they wouldn't spend their money on it. Why should they bother to 'read the official forums' as you put it (in almost all of your posts)? Why should they bother? They can decide for themselves whether or not its worth it to them. Reading through pages of rants and whiny arguements isn't going to clarify anything for them. If they don't like the system in place they don't have to pay money or even play the game if they don't want to. ArenaNet hasn't surpassed any 'boundaries' (rather vague term by the way), except for the ones you've saddled them with. What you consider a 'boundary' other people might not even blink at. I for one haven't seen a single arguement or piece of evidence by you to support your claims. Either admit these are just your opinions and therefore irrelevant, or admit you are a troll and move on. |

This game sounds like the possible savior to MMOs!
General Discussion « Elder Scrolls Online 10/13/12 1:48:50 AM
Originally posted by MercArcher The only thing they have said will be instanced is dungeons. I fail to see how dungeons are a negative. In fact the statement they are trying to design them like "WoW's BRD" took me from could care less about this game to my #1 most anticipated game. Ok, now I know you are trolling. Seriously. I might be mistaken but I am pretty sure that all TES games so far have been sandbox type games, not themeparks. What's made TES games so successful and popular is the exploration and storyline, not the combat. It's never been about the combat, yet that seems to be all you are focused on. Secondly, once again, you are making worthless general statements. How do you know the game will be 'unplayable' for alot of people? You some kind of tech guru? Lastly, who are you to say that housing isn't useful or needed? I for one loved having player housing in Final Fantasy XI and LotRO. I spent hours upon hours getting trophies, furniture and other goodies for my home in those games, showing them to my friends and my guildmates and seeing what they had done with their own homes. I felt WoW, SWTOR, and Rift all suffered from the lack of player housing. Player housing adds soooo much to a game it's importance shouldn't simply be brushed aside because you have a hard on for the combat alone. On top of it, this is an Elder Scroll game! How many houses can you buy in each game? Can you decorate those houses? I think it goes without saying that you can. Saying that ESO doesn't need housing is like saying a bathtub doesn't need a plug. It's an ignorant statement to say the least. |

This game sounds like the possible savior to MMOs!
General Discussion « Elder Scrolls Online 10/13/12 1:23:46 AM
Originally posted by MercArcher And how would you know how many people would be interested in a sandbox game? How would you know what people are looking for? Making such obtuse comments like that take any validity out of your arguements. There's millions of MMO players out there, you claiming to know what they want is or what kind of player they are is foolish. Also, quit hyping a game that isn't even in Beta yet. All you are doing is getting people's expectations up and setting them up for the eventual disappointment when the game doesn't reach the lofty heights that you led them to believe it would. |

Final Fantasy XIV: Preparing for Alpha Testing
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/31/12 5:05:43 AM
Things are certianly looking good, and I'm looking forward to the version 2.0 relaunch. I must admit having some trepedation, many players won't give the game a second chance, even with all the changes, and that might doom the relaunch right from the beginning.

Only one active main quest was a bad idea

Just because a developer does something new or different doesn't automatically mean that what they've done is good. MMO's and video games in general are full of all sorts of things that are done 'differently' than others, but that doesn't mean they've improved the game by adding such a feature. If you like the quest system in TSW that's fine, but myself if I have a list of errands that include grocery shopping, picking up a parcel at the post office, and filling up the car with gas I don't drive past the post office to the grocery store, then drive home, then drive to the post office, then drive back home then drive to the gas station, I do it all in one trip. |

Combat is terrible, worse beyond Kingsmouth
General Discussion « The Secret World 7/05/12 2:43:30 PM
Originally posted by Kost I don't really see the point of your post. In both instances the OP stated that he enjoyed the game, and that the atmosphere, graphics and such were great. Now that he's had a chance to dig deeper into it he's/she's found that the combat is not to his liking to the degree that it's making the game unplayable for him/her. He isn't saying the game is terrible or anything (in fact he's said the opposite) he's just pointing out that the combat isn't enjoyable, and I have to agree. Doesn't mean the OP has 'flopped' as you put it. And if they did, I still don't get the point of your post. Are you saying that someone can't change their mind about something? That because he liked the game in beta that he has to enjoy liking it the rest of his/her life? |

Originally posted by Chase187666 I'd hardly say everyone is sick of subscription based models. I actually find subscription based models cheaper than F2P games that nickle and dime you to death. I think what people are sick of is a game charging full box price, plus a full subsription price, as well as a cash shop for MMO's that are not fully complete at launch or simply lack content. If publishers/developers lowered their box price to say $35, charged $8-$10 for a monthly subscription and had only cosmetic type items in the cash shop I believe gamers would be considerably more agreeable. People will subscribe to a game if they feel it is worth the asking price and offers good value for their money. |

In order from greatest disaapointment to the least (but still terribly disappointing) 1. Final Fantasy XIV - I was a huge fan of XI and played it for three years, and really thought XIV would improve upon it, but SE really dropped the ball hard and when the game launched it was an incomplete mess. That being said by turning it free to play for an entire year and making signifigant improvements, I'm optimistic it can reach some semblance of what I hoped it would originally be. 2. Warhammer Online - I play the warhammer tabletop wargame, and I'm quite into the whole lore and mythos behind the setting. There was so much that the devs could have done to capitalise on that, but they stuck us with two factions, promised us three capital cities per faction then delivered only one. Not sure if they changed much since I quit playing but it was such a mess I'm not even tempted to give it another look. 3. Star Trek Online - Ship combat was fun, and the graphics were nice, that's the only thing good I can say about this game as everything else about it sucked.

Why did they change templar chick face ?
General Discussion « The Secret World 7/03/12 4:45:13 AM
The second image is much improved over the first, and while I didn't think the old Dragon and Illuminati figures looked bad I always thought there was something 'off' about the female templar. She just didn't look right to me, and it threw me off. Perhaps they changed the picture because of it's art style? The first picture is clearly influenced by manga/anime while the second image shows considerably more westren influence which in my opinion suits the nature and style of the game itself. |

Stopped playing it a few weeks after I bought it. Finished the game in normal mode, played through a few acts in nightmare, then just lost interest. Never bothered with the AH, either the ingame gold AH or RMAH. Didn't see a whole lot to keep my interest. Definitely doesn't have the appeal or longevity of Diablo 2. |

Mass Effect 3 Extended Ending Arrives This Coming Tuesday
General Gaming « General Discussion 6/25/12 4:46:39 PM
Originally posted by Brenelael I agree with this statement completely. The ending(s) of ME3 basically negated anything your version of Shepard did or accomplished throughout the enitre series. It didn't matter if your Shepard was a paragon or a renegade, who had died, who had lived, who you allied with, as the final choice between the three outcomes had no bearing on what had come before. If Bioware didn't intend to have any of those decisions to have an impact, why bother carrying them over from game to game? It just was a huge letdown. That there was very little difference between the endings regardless of which 'end method' you choose, not to mention that no matter what ending you choose the Mass Relays are destroyed effectively trapping Shepard's entire armada in Earth's solar system was to me just a low blow that completly knocked the wind out of me. I don't know if Bioware can actually 'fix' the ending. I immensely enjoyed the jouney but the end of that journey has been tarnished beyond all repair. The ending wasn't profound, or enlightening, or even well done. It was terrible, it let down the fans, and Bioware really should have known better. Free DLC or not, it will take something extrodinary for Bioware to get back into my good books. First the disappointment with Dragon Age 2, then SWTOR, and now ME3's ending. Bioware is falling apart it seems. |

The Secret World opinion after playing share yours
Beta Reviews & Impressions [ARCHIVED] « The Secret World 6/16/12 6:49:34 PM
Can't say I'm particulary impressed over what I've seen the past two days I've been in the beta. Character creation is shallow, with too few options and strongly reminded me of SWToR's lackluster character creation. I've seen plenty of glitchy graphics, and I find the controls rather clunky, the cutscenes are well done except I find my character just sits or stands there, not speaking or moving like he's trapped in some sort of trance. Most of all I really despise the combat. The firearms have much too short a range (seriously, you have to be close enough to spit on something to shoot it with a pistol), and you are either being swarmed by mutliple mobs or being pounded by one or two big ones. You pretty much have to resort to constant backpedalling to stay out of melee range which usually results in you bumbling into another group of mobs and having to fight off a bigger swarm. Also, are you seriously telling me it takes ten shots from a pistol to take down a single zombie that's an arms length from me? I do like the concept of the skill wheel rather than the traditional leveling system, and the voice overs are well done. Other than that I can't really see anything in the game to interest me in buying it. Glad I was able to get a free beta key rather than have to do a preorder. |
