Release dates and "4th Quarter 2010"
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/26/10 7:57:19 PM
I'm not asking this is jest, rather this is an honest question. Is there an officially recognized "calendar" for MMOs or perhaps games in general when they reference quarters. The reason I ask is that I generally recognize: JAN-MAR = QTR1; APR-JUN = QTR2; JUL-SEP = QTR3; OCT-DEC = QTR4. However, I know that certain business and even the US government use different time tables to cover quarters of the calendar. I'm just wondering if the gaming community has a recognized calendar too. I ask so that I can understand what a dev is specifically talking about when they reference these times. Thanks for the help. |

Thanks for the info. That's unfortunate that this isn't changable in game. I'm not very experienced with macros like that, so I suppose I'll just have to get use to the way it works now.
Thanks for letting me know. |

I think I tried that. I typed /sit while I was standing on a chair to see what happens and my avatar "sat down" as if he was sitting on his butt on the ground, with his knees pulled up. It didn't look very natural for a chair, but maybe I need to find the right chair. I'll try it again. Thanks for the suggestion. |

Oh thats good to know before I leave. Thanks for that tidbit. |

I've been experimenting with the user interface and game controls a bit, and I can't find a way to change the mouse look settings. Currently I have to click the left mouse button to lock the game camera to the mouse in order to pan my view. In other games I have been able to set it so the camera was locked to the mouse, but I can't find a way to do that on AOC. Does anyone know if thats possible, and how to do it? Thanks. |

Ok, thanks for the info guys. Perhaps the chairs in the inn on Tortage aren't "sitable". I can't seem to sit in them. I'll look for other chairs when I get off Tortage. Thanks again for the info. |

I was in a bar with several chairs that looked like a player could sit in them, but I couldn't find a way to click on the chair or anything. Does anyone know if you can sit in chairs or other ways you can interact with the environment? |

Oh ok, good to know.
For some reason I had the feeling that you couldn't go back to Tortage once you left. Maybe it was like that when the game launched or during beta. Thanks for the info. |
|

Once you leave Tortage can you go back? Thanks. |

Ok. Well, at least now I know. Thanks everyone for the information. |

Ok, I'm getting the idea that crafting isn't exactly well done in AOC. :)
How about resource gathering and its use in the economy? Is there an economy for resource collecting in the game, then? Or is there an economy for anything, really? |

Thats a good place to start. Thanks |

So aside from actually crafting gear, is there value in harvesting anything, like I mentioned above? Maybe I can earn my keep as a harvester for a guild. |

Thats disappointing to hear. Sometimes I enjoy playing non-combat related support roles in MMORPGs. Is there at least a harvesting/mining/collecting system that requires constant resources? I keep hearing about keeps and player cities. Do these things require constant resources as upkeep, a role that could be filled by a non-combat focused toon who goes out to collect such items. |

Ok, thanks guys. |

The main website has a page for an "unlimited" trial account for AOC. What is an "unlimited" trial? Does that mean that you can play the game for an indefinite amount of time, but only in certain places? |

As a possible future RPer in AOC, I am wondering which of the two servers would suite me better for RP. I usually prefer RPvP for RP, where you actually HAVE to be as good as you claim. However, I have found in other games with a split RPvP and RPvE community that the RPvE server has more RP possibilities and a community more supportive of RP. what I mean by that is the RPvP server sometimes gets over run with non-RP PvPers looking for easier kills and the RP feel of the server is significantly degraded. So I was wondering if some of the people more familiar with AOC could help me get a feel for the two servers so that I can make the best choice. Thanks in advance. |

Can anyone fill me in on what crafting is like in AOC? Do you gain skills in crafting? How does crafting relate to combat? Do I need to be max level in combat to do max crafting, if that exists? Also, is there a market for expendable items, like potions, medical packs, arrows or something like that? Or is all the crafting for gear and weapons that don't degrade?
I read on their site that AOC has a robust crafting system, but that can mean a lot of things. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Is there an unofficial AoC RP community out there?
General Discussion « Age of Conan 11/06/10 11:00:38 PM
Its better than nothing. Thanks 7wind.
I thought there was an unofficial RP site at one point, but right now I can't find it. Anyone else know where I can look? |
