and from what i saw whilst playing every new patch, update etc. added more problems to the game and not less

BBO has both a f2p and p2p server so you could just register for the f2p and check it out for yourself

note it's in the historical not fantasy catagory so it can take itself quite seriously

you can level any skill you want(f2p has shortcuts for this in the IM), pretty much join any nation you want and go anywhere you want

personally i play on the f2p casually but frequently

if you've ever played pirates gold etc this will seem instantly familiar

as for pirates of the caribean probably best to avoid if you are over the age of 12

you could check out darkfall i hear that's full sandbox

so why is SWG sci-fi and SWTOR fantasy ?

So what happened to everything they said about this being just like the film etc, etc? as the screens/vids I can see have very little in common

LA for deciding every product should be aimed at 8yr olds, SOE for making it a junk product aimed at 8yr olds

You may believe it, that doesn't make it so.  I won't play the game if jedi are handled at all like SWG.  I didn't play SWG for just that reason and will happily pass this game as well.

aren't jedi meant to be trained from childhood

 personally I think I prefer the idea of starting from beginning as jedi as long as it's done properly, i.e. very hard to master with strong abilities once you do, the opposite of the SWG way

could mean a new and exciting style of gameplay, could just mean you go around walloping ppl with a lightsabre, won't be able to tell until it actually gets tried and tested by players

I think they may be bugged, if u click on Hype-meter it says they're all 6.82

Open your inventory scree(spacebar), open your main character equip window and under it should be a double arrow which gives u the option window to disable headgear and clothing

You can just change the headgear/helmet options so it isn't visible

You don't get monthly subs from a single player game

they have let loose some of the concept art and if u think the screenshots are too cartoony you probably don't want to take a look

personally i'm wiating til there is some more solid info on the gameplay as my first impressions really aren't good, but then first impressions can be wrong

for me it will depend on which is more grown up with greater depth and freedom

I agree too, personally i would like to know who their target audience is (at least might stop some of the arguments)

Now, I tried SWG the first day it was released. I played it for a week and couldn't get into the game due to all the problems it had. But, a couple years passed and many SWG fans referred to the game as the holy grail of MMO's,, before the dreadful NGE of course. Which was basically the same way I think about the Ooooold Everquest before PoP was introduced...  Anyway, ever since those nightmarish changes to SWG, the true hardcore fans of the game they came to love pleaded for either a pre NGE server, or a completely new SWG game with new tweaks and improvements.

When I first read Bioware was making a, "new and improved Stars Wars MMO" I immediately went to check it out. After reading the overview, my excitement quickly faded and i let out a very loooong sigh.. :( Same here  Personally, as an avid 10 year MMORPG fan, I don't want to see a new Star wars MMO be turned into some single player structured platform game with the "option" of playing with a few friends if they want. I'M SORRY, BUT THATS NOT A TRUE MMORPG. This game will only appeal to young kids, and give it a couple months before they get bored doing the same old stuff and this game will fail because it's not a true MMORPG.  Why did AoC fail?? Well because the game claims to be an MMORPG, BUT what i played was a single player rpg with a chat box. Thats not immersive. It's boring playing a game designed to be a MMORPG by yourself. If I wanted to play a structured rpg, i'd do so on my PS3, and not on my pc. I'm guessing they have the console kiddie  market firmly in their crosshairs which is why we are getting what we are getting

 

personnaly i was hoping for a decent, at least semi mature star wars MMORPG something like KOTOR+, more open and more depth

my first impressions,however, are that it's more KOTOR-, basically a kids version of KOTOR with some pvp tacked on the end

it may change it may not(i'm leaning towards not), i'll have to wait and see with fingers crossed
