Star Wars: The Old Republic: Pokket's Guide to the Voidstar
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/12/12 7:02:02 PM
This is all good, but when you are not part of a PvP guild and just play with randoms like me then there is team play or strategy involved anyway. Most people who play don't have a harcore PvP guild with voice chat and such that you need to pull off a good strategy. |

Does the EU ver. lack features compared to Korean ver?
General Discussion « Aion 1/08/12 11:28:33 AM
I've seen people complaining about the Korean version having more dances and outfits. Is that still the case? Looking at youtube videos Aion seems to have a gizillion different dances and outfits, but are those only in Korea? What other features if any are missing? |

What game has the most fashion choices? Aion? GW2?
LFGame « General Discussion 1/08/12 11:08:14 AM
Thanks for the suggestions, but so far Aion still seems the closest to what I want. APB has good customization, but from what I've played it seems like the gameplay is a bad third person shooter which I have to play since I have to gain levels to unlock more clothing. There's only so much you can do with the basic decals and clothes you start with. |

What game has the most fashion choices? Aion? GW2?
LFGame « General Discussion 1/08/12 10:24:29 AM
Been playing SWTOR and I like it, but I prefer the look of fantasy MMO's when it comes to clothing. SWTOR doesn't even have dying yet so my creative side needs another game. I'm looking for an MMO to play on the side so no sub since one is enough. At first I thought maybe GW2, I've heard it's got plenty of color customization, but Aion seems pretty good from what I've seen with the 2.5 style thing there seems to be a lot of different styles to choose from and it soon goes F2P. The game doesn't have to have a great story or anything since I get that aspect from SWTOR even if that is a plus if isn't too tedious to play. I don't care about raids or PvP either. I'm guessing most people here are hardcore PvE or PvPers, but maybe someone can answer this question? =) |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Pre-Launch Interview with Dallas Dickinson
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/11/11 7:26:51 AM
The only thing I was missing in beta was a font size option. I really hope they add that. Most games have UI size options so not even having font size options seem very strange. |

If your going to play StarWars TOR what game will you be giving up ?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/06/11 1:18:35 AM
I've not played an MMO since Star Trek Online last year. I've not really been deep into an MMO since I stopped playing EVE around 2007. Been waiting for an MMO with a story as good as a single player RPG and I really hope SWTOR is that game. |

The Secret World: Developer Diary: Storytelling in The Secret World
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/29/11 4:06:32 PM
Sounds good, but I remember how exited I was for Tabula Rasa for years because it was going to bring good storytelling to MMO's and all that stuff. It turned out to be pretty avarage. I hope Funcom are inspired more by their Longest Journey games than Age of Conan when it comes to story. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Story of the Week: Bioware & SWTOR
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/28/11 3:07:48 AM
It's aimed at the casual market and teens. Parents would go crazy and there would be headlines like "the Old Republic turns 13 year old girls into lesbians". It's sad that it is still so controversial for many, but that's how it is. This is not a mature rated game like DA and ME. |

General: Guild Sores Comic - Creating a Hero
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/02/11 2:09:17 PM
It's a game! You can be whoever you want to be. You want to be a hero you can be a hero, you want to be female you can be a female. No one would say "You are not a hero IRL so you cannot be a hero in game." so why would people think "You are not female IRL so you cannot play as a female."? Same as with playing an evil character in games. I like to play evil in games specifically because I am not evil IRL. If you had to be the exact same person in game as you are IRL then why even play roleplaying games?

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Is Romance Important?
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/27/11 6:58:09 AM
Anything that makes it more like KotOR/Dragon Age is a good thing IMO. There are already hundreds of MMO's for people who don't care about story and just want to grind and raid. I hope this will get the full Bioware treatment and that means great character interaction and that includes among other things, romance. The best video games IMO are those that let you really get sucked in into the world and where you roleplay another life. Sure I play some action games as well like Halo which I've played every game since the first one, but the moments I remember is not when I found great loot, but rather when I and Bastila got to rule our Sith Empire together, when HK-47 said a clever joke, when Morrigan left me in Dragon Age or when I became king of Ferelden. Just as the things I remember from the movies are when Luke finds out Vader is his father rather than the fighting sequence. Action is just there to make story more dramatic IMO, it is rarely an end in itself. Like I said, there are already plenty of MMO's for people who just want to find loot and go on raids or whatever, but there is no MMORPG that have managed to be as interesting as a SPRPG like Dragon Age, KotOR or Mass Effect when it comes to the characters and story. In other words, let this game be for us who like Bioware's SP games and want to eperience the same magic in an MMO rather than for the people who just want it to be like any other MMO with focus on find better and better lightsabers and grinding Rancors to level up. |

Only hardcore MMO players hate this game?
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 9/04/10 6:54:25 PM
I've heard a lot of negative feedback from players playing this game. Most of it from sites like mmorpg.com where most people are hardcore mmo-players. I'm a huge Star Trek fan, but only a casual MMO-player. Been playing every now and then since 2003 (first MMO was SWG then EVE soon after). Too me it seems like most MMO games, based on leveling up, getting new skills and gear etc. with some typical destroy 10 klingon ships missions and some more interesting. I've only been playing for 1½ weeks playing roughly for 8-10h a week so granted I can't fully judge it yet, but it seems so far to be fun at least to me. All the trekkies I know like the game. Many of them have not even played an MMO before. Perhaps if you judge the game as a star trek game that happens to be an MMO rather than an MMO that happens to be a Star Trek game it will seem better. My question is what exactly makes this game so bad? The problems I have with are the same problems I have with it most MMO's such as too many generic quests. I've seen games with more grind, less interesting missions and more generic gameplay that doesn't get as bashed as STO. So can you hardcore gamers tell me what I am missing because from my casual view point it's just as good or bad as most MMO's I've played over the years, except this one is Star Trek (and I admit I would not play it otherwise). I played SWG during its hayday and I must say that so far I like STO more. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: KOTOR in The Old Republic
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/04/10 6:22:05 PM
had KotOR 2 been finished it may have been better. It certainly is a great game and it deserves a lot more credit than people give it. It's the FF8 to FF7 (which IMO also was great, just not as great). |

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures: Post 1.5 Interview
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/03/09 8:20:12 PM
I played for a month around Christmas and I thought it was a pretty good game, but it had some problems. I'm not a hardcore power leveler so the lack of end game content that so many were complaining about never was a problem for me (I only reached lvl 40) However I wanted more customization to make you look unique, voice over for all quests not just some and some other things. Basicly more stuff, more options. Speaking of SWG I liked how you could own a house there and decorate it, I wish AoC had that. 1.5 is the big DX10 update isn't it? How does it look? I have a 8800GTS 512 so not sure if it's powerful enough. I played on high before and it mostly ran fine, but I guess DX10 mode is more demanding? |

Star Trek Online: The Path to 2409: 2383
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/20/08 5:36:49 AM
I just hope the future setting (compared to TNG, DS9, Voyager) doesn't mean that all the ships we know and love are retired. I want to fly ships that I recognize from the show. |

I tend to solo MMO's, because I don't want to have to rely on others or feel pressured to have to play when they want to, plus it's hard finding people that I like. I sometimes group with some random dudes for a difficult task or join a guild, but even when being a part of the guild I tend to play alone most of the time except for when playing alone becomes too hard. I understand why people find it strange to play an MMO alone, after all isn't the purpose of it being an online game to play with others? Maybe if I could find some people that were very friendly, where I never felt pressured and such I would group more, but I'm just a lone wolf I suppose... I play a lot with a friend I know IRL, but since I don't have many friends and none others that play games I can't really call that a group, and since he always play a lot more than I he levels faster and there isn't much point in grouping when he is 20 levels higher and have already done the quests I'm doing. I'm just not willing to spend as much time playing as he is. |
|
Originally posted by WrathPker I have Halo 3, but I don't enjoy playing with random dudes so much. It's great fun when playing with friends, but these days it's all Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty 4/WaW. |

I got a request from a mentor and accepted without knowing what that meant. I tried to talk to him, but I don't even know how to do that since I started playing today. I've gotten some skills though so I'm okey, but it would be nice to talk and get some advise, but he hasn't contacted me as far as I can tell. |

Started playing Atlantice Online which seems okey. I kind of like the turn-based combat, however I fear I'll get sick of it like all the other games.
Since it's unlikely I'll find a game that has every aspect I want I might as well try to focus on one. So is there any game that focuses on character customization and social interaction? I know of Second Life, but no way I'm playing that and pay 1000 bucks for a house or whatever and besides it looks bad by todays standards and I want my character to look as real as possible. So any game on PC which looks as good as Age of Conan and plays sort of like Home on PS3 will? I wouldn't think so...I was hoping the avatar on 360 would be better, but the limited selection of clothes and lack of any social interaction with it (What is the point of an avatar if not to have a virtual life with parties and whatever?) was a big dissapointment. You would think there would be a bunch of such games since girls (and some guys like me) love that sort of thing, like Dolls Online or something Another thing I just realized I forgot to ask when first creating this topic. Which game is the best MMO for roleplaying, actually this sort of ties in to character customization since roleplaying can be hard if everyone has the same generic look. |

I was very exited for Age of Conan, but then when it was released I realized that it was only from lvl 1-20 it had the voice overs and all that cinematic stuff. I might get the game anyway though since it's so cheap now. 99SEK (about €10) might be worth it even if I only like the first 20 levels. Been waiting for a trial, but doesn't seem to appear any time soon. |
