I'm not sure if this may be your play-style, but EVE online has basically what you're looking for. It's got a massive PvE world where you can do basically everything you want, from run a corporation, to missions, to hunting pirates in asteroid belts,to being an industrialist, and then the PvP is just as diverse. With being a pirate yourself, and hunting in low-sec space, the massive 0.0 sec wars which are raging, or even just the occasional group of friends going out looking for some poor soul to explode.

Give the 14 day trial a shot and see how you like it. It's got a very steep learning curve, and it may not be for you, but once you know what you want to do in the game, and how to do it, it's a blast

Only playing the 3 day trial, I can't give you an opinion for a long term aspect (which may be some peoples problem with the game), but I had a great time playing TR for the three day trial.

It's, as you said, not the cookie cutter auto attack game. You have different weapons that do different things, and I found the combat feels more like a single player game than an MMO, which is always a nice change.

I can see the possibility of maybe getting bored further down the road, but from the short time I had with the game I had a wonderful time, and when funds allow, I can probably see myself going back to join the war.

My advice is to try the three day trial from this site, and see for yourself if you enjoy it

The times they use are EST, so maybe the email they sent wasn't able to get to your inbox in time, and it took you longer than 24 hours from 9pm EST on Dec 1st to get to it.

If you're just posting now, it makes me assume that you're more than just one day late, the 24 hours would be Dec. 2nd at 9pm EST,

It's unfortunate

If you could, that would be excellent Lumio,

I played VG for about 2 months in the summer and am going to play it again during the christmas holiday break. I was wondering if it would be worth using my buddy code on myself and playing it for the next 10 (or is it 7 days) and then again in christmas? or just save the buddy code for a later time.... I'm desperate to play again.... I need a fix *twitch*... My DK is calling... I just know it

Ahh, so I was missing something, thank you

I thought the article said there would be 5 creatures. I can only see 2, am I missing something? or have they been forgotten/not posted yet?

I see how you reposted this after rephrasing some problems some people pointed out in  your reasoning... I still highly disagree with your thought on how original eq toons looked better than VG. EQ had flat square bodies... if you mean post luclin graphics, well, that's not original everquest
I didn't read all 11 pages of responses, but I did read the entire post from the OP. I'm actually interested in playing VG again, I played it in beta for a while, and stopped because of school. I didn't want to play it anymore because of what i've read here. Thanks to you though, me and a friend will start playing once we're done our exams here. Very well written breakdown, thank you

Games I'm looking forward to:

1. Chronicles of Spellborn

2. Pirates of the Burning Sea

3. Dark and Light

4. Vanguard

5. the 30th EQ1 expansion
