Here's to DE hopefully being able to make it through Perfect World Entertainment sucking the life out of the game.

I started a new character on one of their newer PvP servers because I didn't feel like dealing with the incredibly long queues. First time I logged on and it said the estimated wait time was 7hrs+. I've never seen the server I'm on hit Full capacity yet so I've been pretty lucky with getting in right away.

Hopefully Cus. Service will get their heads on straight for launch because I have a feeling they're going to be getting the same complaints/questions/gripes for the next few months. And I hope that Carbine doesn't mar their good track record with Wildstar by falling apart at launch.

I had a hard time getting into Sacred 2 but I played and replayed the first for a long time.

These comments gave me diarrhea.

There's a good chance most people didn't even read the article and were chomping at the bit to perform their daily "talk crap about a game I know nothing about" routine.

After looking at some comments, I can clearly tell you didn't read the article or you don't really understand English.

I leveled up a Spellslinger to level 15 before I decided to make a new one and not spoil anything else for myself in the game.

I think finding a casual guild or meeting a group of players during hard quests is a good place to start.

Unfortunately, Warplots are reserved for level 50 so you're kinda stuck with the arena and battlegrounds. Have you tried them yet?

EDIT: I mentioned the spellslinger because I found they're combat exciting and fairly engaging.

So far I really like the Aurin animations all around. Granok aren't bad either.  Mechari and Mordesh(?) are a little weird though...

The Mordesh animations feel like I'm getting ready to do the long jump. So much bouncing and bounding.

I was interested at first but the more I watch, the more the heavy Cel shading and voxel-based graphics wore on me.

I'll leave this here because I feel it got lost amongst the poop slinging earlier.

Here is an album that shows all of the different variations of the available weapons. I'm aware ~280 is not a lot for 6 classes but the developers are adding new variations and removing less popular ones.

Just because you are restricted to one weapon does not mean that you have to look at the same weapon skin the entire game.

I really tried to like Wildstar, I dont mind the cartoony, I dont mind the WOW quest hub style that much, but what I really, really hated was

This is your weapon type, you picked this class, its all you get, decision they made, It was my biggest issue with TERA as well, I just think its so lazy on developers.  I know there is a slight bit of variation on weapons in WS but not really.

I just dont understand how a game made in 1997 (Asheron's Call) could get weapons so right, and games nowadays just seem so lazy

It's not lazy at all.

It has more to do with being Iconic.

Just like one thinks of "The Lone Ranger" and his guns or Robin Hood's bow, or King Arthur and Excalibur, or Zorro and his Rapier or Odysseus's spear.

The idea is that their weapon is part of their identity, it's what they have trained in, mastered.

A gunslinger isn't going to attack you with a mace.

Heros and Villains and their chosen weapons are ingrained in the literature.

remember...

A "Red Ryder BB Gun" or "old blue" is more than just a joke in a movie.

You see this all over the Wildstar forums when people are discussing weapons. These weapon types ARE iconic to these classes. You might see some variation of weapon types that follow the meshes of existing weapons (i.e 2H hammers/axes for Warrior).

These classes don't need weapon variation like daggers and wands. The more variation in weapons a class has, the less identity that class actually has.

Plus, with Warplots and such I'd like to be able to quickly glance at a toon and know what class it is.

EDIT: And please no one think that because a class is limited to one weapon type, that there is little variation. This is false. The developers are constantly cycling through skins, adding new ones and removing others. Here is an album.

Is dota2 at a disadvantage because it was made in microsoft paint though?

Is it not "asian" enough for you? Or maybe too "asian?"

There's no real point in using Leeroy in your deck if you aren't Shaman or Rogue.

Was this a ranked match or arena or something?

Here is my issue with the current crop of mmo's and Wildstar fits it perfect. I think my issue is more so once you get off the ship, just head to the nearest mound, rock or view point and look in the distance, and what do you see? I see a zone and not a world, I see a clump of mobs sitting in pack about fifteen yards from the next clump of mobs and so on and so on.

I want them to create a world and not a formula on what they think we want.

I digress. I just got done with Algoroc and explored Galeras for the heck of it. Algoroc is a giant mountainous region filled with giant crystals and Galeras is an even larger prairie/savannah region.

While you can see mob packs from a vantage point, I disagree with your opinion. The zones are highly detailed and reflect a living environment. There are environmental effects happening all the time in zones.

Granted this is my opinion, I feel they did an excellent job at creating beautiful landscapes and making each zone feel organic.

They are plenty of these key giveaways now. I'm actually surprised there's only 17k left. I'd expect more given how many sites are now offering keys for the beta weekends.

It lives?

It's that Lightfoot skill. I kept going back to it because I enjoyed the idea of "you need to use these skills and level them up to reach their full potential."

Skyforge was just officially announced at GDC on the 21st. There's not a whole lot of information on it yet but it's worth tracking.
I'm running into this problem with games I'm waiting on being released. Eternal Crusade, Skyforge, Wildstar, and a couple others that I really want to play but won't have the disposable income or the time to invest in 2-3 games of this size.
Looking forward to Destiny, Wildstar, and Titanfall especially. This will probably the first time I seriously get into console gaming in ages. Curious to see my ultimate reactions, everyone else's reactions, and how the games actually turn out a few months after launch.

WAR did the same thing with their RvR Packs and Progression Packs. They sold access to endgame content and it was the nail in the coffin for a lot of veteran players that, at the time, I was playing with. I'm aware that Mythic's revenue stream is absolutely incomparable to Blizzard's but it is still the same idea.

In terms of the path that Blizzard has been taking with WoW, this isn't too far for them. They know they have a large audience that would much rather purchase an endgame toon than take the time to run through the game again. They also know that they are non-subscribers that will probably jump in now that this is implemented.

WoW died for me when, as someone else has mentioned, Blizzard thought it would be a good idea to add a cash shop to the game.

Putting in that feature should tell you that nothing is too far for them because they know WoW is still a cash cow.

We all know that it is a given that this won't even scratch WoW. So the real question is whether or not this MMO will be a success.

And I have the trump card to counter claim Wild Star's success:

NC Soft.

Granted they could possibly redeem themselves. But I don't have high hopes for it.

Had the same feelings about SWTOR. Looked interesting to play. But the company behind it didn't have a good track record.

Sorry but Wildstar is amazing and if you were in beta playing it you would know that. Wildstar will not only make a huge scratch in WoW, I am predicting that after a few years, WoW will be #2 mmo behind Wildstar.

The game is that good, and I dont care who believes me at this point since most are forming opinions on failures of previous MMOs. Wildstar does everything WoW does, in much the same way WoW does, only it does it all better. It is basically WoW++ and people love WoW, they are just bored of the same setting classes races, etc.. Wildstar offers all new stuff.

Just wait, spring 2014, the start of Wildstars rise to #1

Its just WOW 2.0, completely boring. Go to quest giver, marked with a !, go to area and click/kill x amount of things. Within 20 minutes I had the been there done that feel.

You must feel that with every MMO. *sadface* You poor thing, you.

I really want to like Wildstar.  I really do.

My problem (and I've said this before) is that the fans are insane and rabid and the developers are apparently okay with it.

They are depending on diehard core-gamer fans way too much to ever amount to anything.  They remind me of the Pirates of the Burning Seas developers (before the game was released) more than anything else.

I think they are in for a rude awakening when they release and realize their insane fans aren't enough to give them a sustainable income and they should have catered to casuals a little bit...

Regardless of the myriad users on this very website that are constantly asking for something not casual. And in no way are they completely relying on "diehard core-gamers." All the livestreams represent the mechanics to be pretty easy to learn but relatively challenging to master.

And my time on the beta forums, I never saw any "insane and rabid" fans. A few of them were overzealous, sure, but every MMO has that group of people. Every single one.
