FPV is awesome! Really, I find it what makes or kills immersion. I have never been so immersed in a game since Oblivion, mostly because of the first person view and excelent sound effects. |

AoC isn't a movie, it's a comic book series. I haven't read any of the comic books and I get along fine in RP. |

Originally posted by bryan58 So a troubador can just waltz in to a dungeon and start killing named mobs? Doubtful, I really doubt skill has that much of a factor. You could be the greatest player in the world and still get your butt handed to you by named mobs. Skill is most definitely not that big of a determining factor, if anything I think it would be 40% class and you can argue the rest, leaving skill with the smallest portion of the pie. To back up the 40% class statement I'll use a Necromancer class, and if any of you have played, grouped with, or even watched a Necromancer you will know what I am talking about. On the other end of the spectrum I'll use a troubador - unless using a buckler.. soloing can be a bit difficult no matter what skill you have the mob is still going to hit you, he isn't going to say , "oh this guy has skill, lets not attack him". If youwant to kill a heroic encounter.. good luck , and you better know what you are going to be doing before you go into that fight.. which would be the 20% skill... but it is still going to be an encounter that will leave you wishing you hadn't started fighting it in the first place - even if you succeed. I maintain what I said. A Troubador with raid gear, mastered out and with his mythic might or might not be able to kill dungeon named. It depends on his skill. Using the right strategy can increase your DPS by so much you have no idea. I'll give you a personal example. I played a Fury and did around 600DPS while soloing until I found out the best order to cast my spells in to get the most DPS. Now I can consistently do 1kDPS without raid gear or my mythic. I can also kill named at will because I know the right strategy. Information (skill in this case) is power. |

Try Age of Conan. RP is serious stuff there. (I did not read the whole thread seeing as I'm tired as hell, but for RP alone AoC is a nice game). |

Solo killing is 20% class, 20% gear, 20% spells and 40% skill. |

800-900 players on a server is bad? |

Never played FFXI, but from what you hated I would assume EQ2 would be a good game for ya. |

How long ago did you try EQ2? |

I actually forgot to add I tried DDO. Stayed away from it, though. It was never that interesting to me. |

How can it be an issue? And I only remember zoning into Kylong Plains 2 once. |

Woops, guess I'm a little tired. I'd say go to Private Servers, but those are illegal, so can't help ya man. |

How do you want lots of content if you wanna get to the top level in 2 weeks? |

I have a quite long MMO history. I have played: Lineage 2, World of Warcraft, Everquest 2, Vanguard, Guild Wars, EVE and Age of Conan. I hated Lineage 2 for a start. I did not like the graphics in WoW. I loved EQ2 except for the fact I have to buy a new expansion every year. I liked the Crafting aspect of Vanguard, but it didn't actually grasp me. Guild Wars just never got me either. EVE wasn't attracting at all. I loved the PvP and combat in general for Age of Conan. I was wondering if there was a game with the general EQ2 feel, an exciting combat system or a cool crafting system. Anyone been around the lands of Conan lately? Is it worth returning? How about WAR? How's that doing? I enjoy PvE the most, but some casual PvP if there aren't big consequences. Anyone know of any game I'd enjoy? |

Most classes can solo 3-dots 3 levels higher than yours. Some have an easier time than others. I play a Bard and my main problems are running out of endurance (every offensive fighter has this problem) and running out of health, since my healing components in my songs aren't that effective. The best solo classes in my opinion are Necromancer, Psionicist and Disciple. Disciples are severely overpowered and will be nerfed soon I think, so don't go with that. |

Originally posted by darwa DPS is 50% class and 50% player. You can only define how you'd compare by actually testing it. I'd think you would be doing about the same DPS as a Monk/Bruiser, but that's just me. Haven't tested it since TSO, but zerker (in offensive) would do quite a bit less dps than either brawler class (in defensive), both with 'dps' style set ups when all things are equal. I guess so. I haven't really grouped with Monks after TSO (canceled my sub), but before it I, as a Fury could out-parse a Monk while solo-healing a group. He was putting out roughly 800-1.2k DPS and mine was around 900-1k so some fights he would out-parse me. Not sure on DPS numbers now (neither of us had amazing gear, just pretty much MC and he was quite a good player). Personally I think I could see a Berserker doing 1.2-1.5k DPS, but then again, I have never tested. |

I heard about those, and I'm actually kind of excited to see how that all pans out. So I guess my next question is how well does a Berserker's dps stack up against the other classes. Obviously not the greatest but would it be respectable enough to land a dps spot in a group? I've not had a dps meter running since back in '04 when I was running Runnyeye and Rivervale, and back then berserkers were extremely overpowered. I've seen some pretty numbers flying up a couple times when I was dps'ing but I've not had any other class as high as my Berserker to compare those numbers to. DPS is 50% class and 50% player. You can only define how you'd compare by actually testing it. I'd think you would be doing about the same DPS as a Monk/Bruiser, but that's just me. |

We need an update to character models and armor, with that I agree, but I think the graphics are just fine they way they are. |

I've always seen the Berserker as a tank personally. Having a Berserker and another tank in a group is just like having two healers. One will be doing the main job and the other is there if anything goes wrong. I have yet to see a Berserker tank for a raid, but I'd expect it only to happen if there are multiple adds, since that's what the Berserker is good at, holding aggro from multiple mobs. |
