if you ended the argument, then you would realize you are falling for something that isn't real and if it is real, then they are laughing you all the way to the bank.
I use to think you were one of the few reasonable people on these forums, I guess I was wrong. Which leaves me to wonder who else is hiding behind so thin a veil. . . Curious how you would go to such a low level in assaulting not only a game, but those that appreciate it. I'm more of the Hero's Journey sort, as opposed to the Darkfall sort, but I do think Darkfall has some nice artwork to help make up for some of the graphical downfalls. Although those cannon blasts are rightfully ridiculed. The graphics don't seem as bad to me as a lot of people make them out to be, but it all boils down to personal taste. I do hope Darkfall releases for you guys, and that it's everything you are expecting it to be. Good luck, and good gaming.
good lord...enigma i think it is time to just bow out, he just said what we all are thinking. and yes, the graphics are not omg amazing, but they are fine and you (enigma) have no grounds to try and convince the fans of this game that they shouldnt be happy. if you dont like it, fine say that, but dont tell the fans that we shouldnt be happy. grow up. |

I don't know what I'll enjoy more; Darkfall, or watching the nay-sayers eat their words whole.

it will be, which is one of the reasons i cant wait for this game. look how big the world of EVE is, you can avoid the areas where the largest uber guilds hang out. there is 0 chance that a guild will be able to take over an entire server, the world is simply too big |

Originally posted by Xris375 Indeed, the little lotro carebears are still struggeling with the consept of full loot or female dwarfs. yep...there will always be people afraid of this game because they cant fathom its features...let them gloat. the fans discuss their game here, the trolls discredit it thinking their time spent is going to ruin the game or something. at the end of the day, barely anyone looks at this forum, maybe 2% of the community that would play or know about it at all. So they are wasting their time, while we attempt to share our common interest and look forward to having fun. |

Dealing with Wife/GF aggro during Play sessions
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/03/08 6:02:17 AM
Reading this thread makes me realize how lucky I am in my current relationship. That isn't meant as a brag as much as it is a thank you for bringing the topic up. My gf is not a huge gamer, but she is definitely into them and understands that I enjoy a good MMO (like the op said, when a good one is out...im currently MMO-less). She will be the first one to accept an open challenge to play some mario tennis or some of the more old school stuff, and enjoys some pc titles, just not MMOs. Been together a little over a year now and she is extremely supportive of anything i do, including moving to the other side of the country to pursue a great career opportunity. I give her the same respect with her hobbies and in other aspects of life, so things work out very nicely. I had a previous relationship of about 2 1/2 years though that ended in disaster because of a difference of opinion about gaming. Though i later found out that she was not for me for other reasons, and that gaming actually saved me from making a huge life mistake with her. And i never would have met my current gf =)
The good points have already been made in the thread, but i just wanted to share my situation. Treat them with respect and don't be overly aggresive with your defense of your hobby. If they are truly in love with you and are serious about a relationship, they will at least be open to the idea of not getting in the way of something you enjoy, as long as you keep it under control and always put her first. I consider myself extremely lucky to be in the situation i am in after reading this thread, so i guess my other advice would be to step back and take a look at your relationship and if your gf/wife/bf/husband is at least willing to compromise in some way about your hobby then you should consider yourself lucky and take that as a good sign that he/she really cares about you. If someone says, its the game or me, then they may not be the one for you as long as your gaming habits are under control and its not an addiction. If they really cared they wouldnt make you give up something that makes you happy. But this shouldnt be confused with someone asking you to tone it down or compromise a bit (sometimes it may be the wake up call you need to tone down your in game life and focus on rl). And you should never get mad at your significant other for wanting you to tone it down. Say if she wants to compromise and say ill give you your gaming time with no complaints as long as you take me out to a movie/dinner every friday night....but friday night is your guilds raiding night....take the compromise and dont think twice about it. this turned into an unorganized rant, but hopefully my points are made somewhere in there. good topic op. oh and for what its worth im 23. |
