City of Heroes/Villains....BLEH. OH...and WAR. I was a big fanboy prior to beta and preview. Got into the game and hated it. |

Just out of curiousity, from the WAR website, I thought the servers would be up Sunday, not today. Did they open it up for this weekend or did I just read it wrong. :P |

"Hello, I thought to quickly check in before too much more time passes. As we step up publishing activities, the updates should increase in frequency and quality, which should make up for the ones we’ve been missing the last months. We take for granted sometimes that the Darkfall community is savvy enough to understand the limitations of independent game development and make allowances, however we’re also keeping track of what we need to give you in order for you to know exactly what you’re getting into with Darkfall. On progress, there are no major problems to report, some minor delays maybe here and there which don’t affect our timeline. Most of us had a short break, the last for a long time. Everyone is back and we officially entered into our crunch period on Monday. We’ve had several new people join the company the past month, and more on the way. There's a video coming out, most probably next week, or shortly after. We’re talking about a long 100% in-game pure gameplay trailer with no scripting, no simulation, no post-processing. It’s us play-testing while fraps is running on free cameras and playercams and all the footage was collected and edited. The scenarios for it had to be run as part of our testing and development schedule as they came up. Nothing is scripted. We wanted to give you something that can put you in the true spirit of the game and this requires us to be actually playing the game like you would be, and not just taking you on a sightseeing tour or have a company make a marketing cinematic trailer for us. If you're experiencing problems with the website and the forums it's because these days we're upgrading our webservers and this should be going on most of next week as well. Thank you for your patience. Our next update would be the video, so until then, thanks for reading"
Sounds like a lot of 'shoulda, coulda, wouldas' to me. Anytime ANYONE speaks/writes in this type of language promotes only one thing....uncertainty. "Most probably" and "shortly after" are all keywords of uncertainty. They're preying on the community's need for information but eluding any commitment. |

Tasos was very consistent with what he said and at no point contradicted himself... Like those of us who have read his posts and know the above contradictions are just made up and laughable. Please try harder to troll. I wasn't trolling and if I had an intent to do so, difficulty wouldn't have anything to do with it. |

STOP SAYING War is ONLY FOR PVP players and not for PVE lovers!

WoW was always great while intoxicated. I think it had something to do with the mishaps that occurred while grouping (as I always tended to be a support class/healer). In example, I woke up one early, early morning...keyboard key-prints in my forehead....and when I logged on that very next a.m....I was reminded horribly of an failed group. Bits and pieces of the night came running back to me...but it wasn't until a group member msgd me the next day about what I was doing...and that I had run out of the group and straight for the boss, taunting and cursing as I did....I couldn't help but continue this love for drinking while playing. |

STOP SAYING War is ONLY FOR PVP players and not for PVE lovers!

As I posted in another thread.... I LOVE PvE and when I came into the Preview Weekend...I LOVED WAR. There was plenty of items and delicacies to keep me occupied (and though, I only really tested these PvE theories up to rank 15 on 3 toons (Spread across Order and Destruction)). I was more than satisfied with the content and had ample opportunity to explore the wildness that was both WAR's pvp and pve. I loved both (and this surprised me because I had never been a HUGE pvp fan....but the combination...the assimilation of these two things into a game (not just a queue or separate instance)...a world...made it awesome for me. |

*saunters into the arena, looking down at a dirty seat, he sits without a shrug. His eyes seem hasty and quick as they dart back to the speakers and then to the door (the obvious audience). Almost zombie-like, his eyes still darting to and fro, he motions for a cup of popcorn. Without attention, a clumsy hand drops into the bag to bring forth a handful of kernels, only to have a third of them fall to the floor. He thinks to himself..."where are they...?". Again, his eyes dart back to the door....waiting...anticipating...." |

I spent a good MANY hours this weekend PvE'g and Questing ALONE...SOLO...UNO...SINGULAR...you obviously haven't laid your stubbly fingers on the keyboard to test it out this preview weekend...so, I'll leave the stupidity of your posting to the review of other WAR pw'rs who found their time mixed between PvE and PvP. Friday to Monday folks....PLENTY of pve and soloability...in fact...I joined up in Scenarios and PQ's just so I had some feeling of belonging. Mainly, I wanted to learn the concepts myself without group, guild and party members screaming through my chat box. I found a great combination of the two and from a PvE person...(and not a hater of WoW)...this was and will be my 'new' game. Really cause i played mostly PVE, because i perfer it so i won't be playing this long term most likely, but its slow as all hell. Because the combat is that much slower, because the leveling is that much slower, and because the i thought the PQs (while nice at first) where all pretty much the same (fight a buncha soloable guys, fight a bunch of champions, then fight a boss.) and repitive as well if you wanted the only useful influence rewards. Another part of pve, IMO, is actually exploring the towns (oh wait there where only little camps dotted down the road) dungeons (i know there are some but i didn't see any in the maps i checked out which was about 5 of them.) and world (The map feels strangely disconnected from my actually experience when zoomed out even one space and there doesn't FEEL like there is anything passed the PQs (which were a lttle bit out of the way from the one set path the quests are on, but not by much.) Now, some of this is subjective but when in comparsion to the pve experience of huge cities and towns loads of dungeons, a seamless world, and quests that either have to be traveled down for a long ways to get the completed goal and rewards, or require a rare drop to even be started, i.e. you have to go off the beaten path to even see close to everything there is to explore. How can you compare, nay, claim that you want to leave one pve experience for one that has so little to offer.
NOTE: You say you are a PVEr, but if you are going to WAR then you are going to the wrong mmo. If not please stick with WOW or go play LOTRO or vanguard they all have better PVE to offer than WAR has at this point in time. 2nd Note: if you are Borehammer fanboy please go back to hyping your game on the any of the many WAR forums out there cause i am tired of WAR invading this section of MMORPGs forums. 3rd Note: Borehammer is in refrence to the phrase borecraft and i thought it would be nice to sling it back at the fanboys. WAR itself is a game i think that has a very nice pvp system and a good general feel to it as well, its just not my thing.
You're quite wrong, sir. I'm certain you weren't able to experience the PW as a whole or spent much time trying. There were towns..and groups and a city....PvE wasn't hidden or scarce...it was integral (at least in my experience from rank 1 to 15). I won't leave a PvE experience for one that doesn't have at least a plethura of opportunity for PvE...I will be leaving an older game for a newer one...with some of the same loves I had from the prior. Yes, I am a PvE'r and I love PvE...but there are aspects to a combination of both PvE and PvP that I enjoy. There are countless quests (sure, I didn't explore them all) and there are still countless things being introduced once this goes live that have yet to be illuminated thus far. I understand completely WAR is more geared toward the PvP aspect of gaming...but understand this...there will be aspects of both loves...and though one might shine a bit more than the other does not mean it will not appeal to both PvE'rs and PvP'rs alike. |

There are very few quests that players can do alone.. almost all the quests are global, which is great if you want your entire playtime to be about advancing your side, without advancing your own character. The vast majority of players are not pvpers, they are not into 'realm goals'. As far as Warhammers pvp... again, it is overrated. There is simply no strategy except to zerg (die, and rush forward full speed). There are no CC's, no interrupts.. nothing that is 'tactical' about a fight, you just cast your highest dps spells as fast as possible. The winning side is ALWAYS the side with the most players because that is all that matters. The majority of wow-type players will be bored within a month of Warhammer. If the 3.0 patch comes out before Warhammer, not that many people will try Warhammer except for the old Doac players (ie..200k tops). Warhammer is just too 'niche' to get over 500k subscribers. It's all about pvp, and all about 'global' accomplishments. WOW reached 11M subscribers because it caters to all different playstyles, but caters mainly to what most people want ( solo questing pve with a good mix of dungeons and pvp).

I think it's kind of funny and a little exaggerated to think your damage tripled. I know where the sorc reknown gear...I barely grabed +40 damage over all (and this with mostly and all INT gear, which is a casters bst friend in war) and +40 spell damage is hardly a tripling affect. With my Archmage in her reknown gear...she added a mere 45 to her heals. |

She said that it is not uncommon for these companies to cause the unfortunate event of order cancellation. |

I didn't want to start a new thread asking this, so I'm glad I found this one....
Has there been any information made available as to the start time of the Preview Weekend? I'm just curious whether I should be *hack* *cough* and whispering into the phone to the boss to avoid missing out on 'my' anticipated preview. |

I will be having the opportunity to test these out tomorrow....but I'm curious what the testers think about my current inquiry....
I have always been a caster type, dps and/or support, in nearly every MMO I've played (and there's a long list of em). The thing that really threw me off some caster types in MMO is the display of their casts. I've always been a graphically-intense-caster-lover and have quickly been turned off MMOs because the effects/graphics behind spellcasting tend to take an elementary turn. I've watched a few videos and am still as yet uncertain which caster class in WAR will quench that love of graphical gameplay. I have no allegiance to Order/Destruction thus far....so all caster types are open to me... In the testers' opinions...which and why do you believe a certain caster type might fit this niche. I don't play casters because their overpowered...or the underdog..but because I love what they do...whether it be direct and/or dot/hot . Also...are dwarves male only? |

I don't understand why people dislike this game so much. I actually love it...it was my warm cuddly bed when WoW lots its taste...and continues to be so until Friday when I jump into WAR's PW. Though, there are times I want to pull my hair out because caster classes tend to be very strategy oriented and if you solo an instance...there's calculating and time involved. I've played a few of the armored classes who can solo, norm and hard an instance that my wiz finds difficult on solo and norm. I'm personally not giving up on this game and am excited with some of the changes coming up with the new mod. I'll keep my sub...even when WAR hits the game table. |

HA! Have you ever saw, heard or witnessed such a fit...that it was the ultimate pleasure (as the fit subsided and was replaced with a smiley, happy faced, ice-cream eating....disposition) to just point out what a complete fool they made themselves out to be? Is it me or are there others that find it pleasurable just to remind? That's all it is...but there is a hint of shadowy, malicious intent behind the many reminders I'm sure I'll be posting. |
