This is basically my beef with Fallen Earth, it just look and feel too indie. I fear that without a some capital investments the devs will not have the cash to create the necessary content and fix bugs. All which require a lot of money to sustain. |

So does this play like a shooter like Tabula Rasa?

There is no auto targeting nor is there an auto attack. If you miss, you will die. |

It is impossible to say anything positive without breaking the NDA hence there isn't any glowing reviews. |

The graphics are fine, the game is going for that Fallout 2 look and the devs hit it right on the head. In fact it's freaking perfect. Everything about the world's brown pallette to the ramshackled towns to the vehicals just scream Fallout 2 in 3D. If you're looking for an effects laden and clean looking MMO then you completely missed the point. IMHO the biggest issue with the graphics is performance. This is a twich based FPS/RPG game, similar to Fallout 3 without the VATS. So performance, controls, and animations (in that order) should be the top three concerns. |

Wow, and I mean wow! At it's worst Fallen Earth's combat system is 10X better than this, plus the game actually look, play and feel like Fallout Online without the VATS system. Guns have no cool downs, but your abilities like healing do. Earthrise on the other hand looks like a Korean version of the apocalypse with a TR slant. Without a twitch FPS based system this game fails, just like TR. I was trying to decide between the two but that vid really cleared things up.

Why create an mmo that would look dated 5 years ago?
Fallen Earth « Fallen Earth 6/29/09 5:36:55 AM
The graphics isn't the that bad, aside from the performance issues. If you think about it, this game looks EXACTLY like a 3D version of Fallout 2. The art style, the color pallete, are all very similar. |

WOD is a vampire mmo. GAY. |

You're out of your fraking mind. Yeah its similar to Fallout, but thats not an issue. If there's an issue it's that the game isn't similar to Fallout enough. |

Not even close. Jump gate is a shooter MMO and it lacks the complex market dynamics of EVE. |

I enjoyed EQ 2 when I played it 2 years ago and I prefered it over WoW. EQ 2 rocks. Now having said that Everquest in it's prime was the best fantasy MMO ever created. It was complex, and it was full of risk and rewards. Fantasy MMOs these days like WoW, EQ 2 and even the LOTRO you mentioned are for brain dead zombies who enjoy MMOs one easy mode. As for which game is better the choice is clear: If you want a lot of PvE, play EQ 2, it's the most mature MMO out of all the second gen fantasy MMOs. It comes loaded with a bewildering array of content that is so vast and expansive that it makes EVE look like a barren wasteland. There are landmarks and set pieces everywhere.
Now if you want to play a PvP/PvE game that is highly dynamic where the player hold sway over every single aspect of economy to poltics then play EVE. There is a lot of risk vs rewards elements in EVE and the game sport a true frontier jive. Everything is possible, both good and bad. While the community is generally mature and extremely helpfull, EVE is also riddled with scammers, griefers and scumbags. The fact that someone can rip you off and steal billions of your hard earned work and destroy your guild from the inside out is a FEATURE in EVE. Make a note of that. On the PvE side the content varies from boring to pathetic if you choose the combat route. However if you're more of the industrial and market type EVE offer the deepest economy in the MMO world. The possibilites of what can be done will totally blow mind. |

When is CCP going to buff Caldari PvP a bit? It seems missles are useless in fleet and gate camp due to flight time and the shield tank of Caldari ships are inferior to the armor tanking of Amarr and other factions. Other than ECM is there any reason I should bother rolling a Caldari character for PvP? |

Free expansions are great but I prefer LOTRO's model better. The updates are more frequent and the paid content are considerable. The expansions in EVE are great and all but they don't bring enough content and changes on a consistant basis. For a game this old there should've been a lot more content in both PvP and PvE spheres. It seems like EVE is crawling a long while other MMOs take huge leaps in their avialable content. |

Why is this news at all? People 're making it sound like Linux is a viable OS for a major MMO. Its not. There's just too much crap going on to support a fringe OS with limited development resources. It doesn't even need to be said. |

My 14 day trail just ended and this game continue to blow my mind. I'm not saying its the best MMO ever because there are clearly flaws, but what this game has to offer can not be found any where else. Its like the scifi PvP version of Everquest. |

The learning skill is grossly overpowered and need to die. It is unfun, and BORING. There's nothing worst than having a hundred people tell you in rookie chat to max your learning which can take up to a week, when as a new player you should be training more exciting skills to get you into the game. As for general improvements to the game, I have no idea where to start. The game is so utterly brutal on noobs like myself that it remind me of the History Channel show on the Spartans and how they throw unworthy babies off a cliff. But even that is too carebare compared to EvE. |

What an epic waste of space in response to a very well writen post by the OP. Eve is one of the very few MMOs out there where the player can have a direct impact in the world. Yet all everyone troll about is skill training time and trying to achieve that pointless parrity. Its as if the game fail because you can't go 1 vs 1 with some another dude's Titan on a level playing field. Recockulous. |

Why Does Eve Attract Such A Horrible Forum Community?
Jita (General) « EVE Online 1/29/09 6:44:01 AM
After playing the trail for about a week I can see this is a troll thread. But there are some legit complaints, the chat UI blows and the real community, the guys outside of the rookie help channel and a few nice peeps in the forums, ARE full of scammers and gankers. The game do have some real issues also, like the giant gulf between what it teaches you by doing the first few missions and the REAL game in low sec. But even that logic fails because Eve is like no other MMO I've played before. In the end Eve is what what it is, and that is what make it so great. In this post WoW world you just have to admire a game that is completely and utterly uncompromising in it's principles in all regards...even when it is flawed. It also might be wise to consider the fact that some people love Eve for the very same reasons that you hate it. |

Evemon taught me stuff in 15 minutes that would take hours if not days of forum browsing to achieve. They should included this little gem with the game because it's a must have. |

This game is what Vanguard was trying to be all along. The difference being, EvE actually works though Eve lack the "set piece" display of structures and grand cities of Vanguard. But this world is more about the players and what they can do to directly impact their world, not static cities with hundreds of NPCs. I have never seen an MMO like this before, where anything is possible and how the players can actually stake their claims in it. I'm on my first week now, I after being able to comprehend, in a tiny way what Eve is all about...it totally blew my mind. I mean this $hit is unreal. I'm so in awe of it all that I've decided to sub for 3 months, in this economy that is not an action that I take lightly. |
