Caveat Emptor - "Buyer beware"

That's latin for those who don't know and being that we use a long dead language to describe this kind of situation it should provide some indication to you just how long shit like this has be going on for.

I think that mmorpgs launches should work perfectly and people have a right be unhappy if there are problems, however they should not be surprised when things go wrong.

What do they mean they'll make an attempt to re-process SOME of the failed pre-orders on Friday? They're only going to re-process a limited amounts? That's straight bull shit. Everyone that got an email assumed that their order went through. Why would they not process it right after you filled out your information?

Some of them probably are not worth reprocessing.  If it was rejected due to lack of funds in the account then it might be worthwhile them doing it again as people may have put more money in their account.  It the card was out of date or the details were wrong ect then there is no point them having a second attempt, it's still not going to work.

They are probably given an error code showing why the transaction was refused by the clearing house.

Please note that we are just relaying the information we’re receiving from this transaction. Please do not reply to this email asking for clarifications because we do not have more information regarding this topic.

Hmmm maybe they just refuse it and don't tell them anything then, it could leave the door open for fraud if they start giving them information on what went wrong.

I would save your breath.  People have spent years trolling this game with no basis for any of it.

Now they have something tangible to troll about there is no way they are going to let it pass.

It would be good if someone developed  the idea behind wwII online but maybe bring the simulation level down to slightly above battlefield 1942 and add persistant character.  They could make it so the players could level / up the characters through kills or objective captures and unlock skills that allowed you to use different weapons and vehicles.  Maybe they could make skill trees so you need to progress various levels helicopters to get to pilot the really good ones for instance.

So basically a war based mmo to answer the question.

Yes this can be said to many products, but remember MMO's are also a service. You know this , this is not a single player game like OBlivion or the like. Your subscribed to it paying a monthly fee just like you pay cellphone service, cable ect. Since you are paying a fee you expect it to be always there and in working order. If its not working you expect answers thus customer service. With what you said i can simply make a promising mmo. release it and have NO customer relations what so ever. People got the product. Now since there is no relations i can simply shut the game off for a week just to save money and then put it back when i please.  you wouldnt like a game like that right?

Public relations is important just as their website is to relay info. Any problems should be mentioned in the front page of their website just like many other mmos have done when somthing like this occurs. If they cant even treat the people they are billing correctly how will they treat the people ingame when somthing does occur.

There is a reason why i used phone service and compared it to a mmo. its a live service you EXPECT it to work as advertized.

Services are just are like any other product though.  When I take a flight if the company the causes me a long delay I will not use that company again regardless of whether they put me in a nice hotel or make me wait in the airport, if my interent connection does not work to my satisfaction I will change supplier, if I am not happy with amount I am being charged for gas I will find a new supplier.  It's too late once customer services need to be involved as there has already been a problem, and if it happens more often than I feel is acceptable (once normally)  I am not interested in how well they have dealt with it I will just not use them again.   When I am spending money on things I want them to work, I do not want to hear ass kissing from cs.

Either what I have spent money works or it doesn't, I don't want words or soft treatment from cs people I want it to work as I expected.

If there are mitigating circumstance like there are is this case, it's brand new and it's the only new mmorpg I would consider playing, then I take them into consideration.

Completely disagree about this with all products, customer service would be somewhere near the bottom of my list of things of things I value in companies.

The only thing that I consider when I purchase something is how good the product is, in this case that would be how much fun the game is to play and does it have bugs or a lot of downtown.

If the product is good I will never need customer service.  If I ever need to speak to them or require communication from them after the initial purchase then that is a giant black mark against them straight away and I probably will not deal with that company again no matter how good their cs is at dealing with the problem.

Central European Time is GMT+1

Athens is at GMT+2 (so technically, its already 26th February there).

I suppose they could always go out on a limb and claim they were using GMT as the basis for their launch schedule...but thats beyopnd pushing their luck.

Yeah I agree, I think CET is the best measuring stick as thats considered standard time on the continent.

Yeah it's stupid people started complaining when it was still only mid afternoon in Europe even though specifically stated that it was going to launch in the evening.

its 10pm in athens greece, WHERE THE COMPANY IS LOCATED,.

 { Mod Edit }

Well most people in Europe would be using European Central Time for anything like this.  Also I don't know what planet you are on but on earth evening is 6 pm to midnight.

Yeah it's stupid people started complaining when it was still only mid afternoon in Europe even though specifically stated that it was going to launch in the evening.

As we wait.

It's a games company that isn't bankrolled by a publisher.

I think only gold should be universally banked.

Come back in 4 weeks imo.

Greece has never been well established as having a strong level of business professionalism. I wouldn't expect much here either.

Of course, thats must be why it was the cradle of western civilisation and has had a stanglehold international shipping for centuries.

What about when they release N. America servers? You think clans will have enough allies on at all times then? They are planning for the future.

Even if it's only a US server people are online in mmorpgs 24/7, guilds should have to make provisions to ensure that they have members with diverse playtimes.  This goes against the survival of the fitest spirit of the game.   I am not expecting to be the fitest by a long way, but that is the kind of gaming environment I want to play in.

This should not be necessary, this game has users on 3 continents - North America, Australasia and Europe.

Guilds that cannot organise a diverse enough player base to protect their cities deserve to lose them imo.

This change will encourage single nationality guilds, give too much power to large guilds and will greatly reduce metagaming opportunities.

It will still play it in couple months time if it proves to be decent but I am very unhappy about this.

Why not? You can siege other late night clans. It is going to be played around the world, this just gives an option(that you will have to put an effort into getting) to protect your clan when you are asleep(whenever that may be).

I think this gives guilds far too much protection.  I would prefer it if 3am city destruction was in the game, I realise that this is probably unpopular but I feel that the game will be worse off without it.  Big guilds will be extremely hard to shift from their guild cities.

Unless they are so expensive that people will not use them as anything except a last resort  this is bad move imo.

How so? I think it is a great idea. It allows for clans to use these when they are sleep. Being on 24/7 is not really viable.

Almost all the beta testers think it is a good idea as well.

What about people that play late at night?

This effectively means that they are not going to be able to form late night guilds and do some seiging.

Hmmm that sucks, I must say that this is a bad change that removes significant gameplay options.

You.

Not buying this game???

You one of the many bitching about hitting F5 for hours and not getting a pre-order, or is momma not giving your allowance this week because you spent too much time in the DF beta and didn't clean your room, or what gives?

I'm shocked to be honest you, of all people, say that you aren't buying this game. There must be a good reason, and I'd love to know why.

When I have ever said I am buying this game? I have not even attempted to order it.

I post on these forums because of the amount of total bs trolls spew.

I might buy it in month or two if it turns out to be decent.

Regarding my mother, as some of us are old enough to have outlived our parents it might be rather difficult for her to give me an allowence without me having to result to some serious shovel work.
