Well thanks for the info man, I appreciate it. Sounds like it's probably a little less chaotic than when I left around launch. That habits, clans, alliances, unspoken rules, routines, etc. are a liittle bit more established but that there are alignment system exploits (i.e. 4 different blues hitting a single blue once every 10 seconds to kill him without losing any faction points) stuff like that, sounds to be alive and well in Darkfall. |

Does everyone and their grandmother still try to kill you if you're red? |

I played Darkfall at release and quit because of the crappy alignment system. I recently checked out their site and it looks a lot nicer with some interesting stuff happening to the game. I searched the official forums but couldn't find a run down of the current alignment system Looking for some generous person to give me the details of exactly how it works now in terms of grey, red, timers, number of swings, and grouping.

Darkfall: Overview Part II, Looking at the Down

Originally posted by RBlackheart Ok I have to call bullshit on your comments :). Hmm where to start:
If you don't like the game thats ok, many won't. Just make sure what you post is accurate and up to date. -what i meant by macro to get resources was of course a macro to harvest it. Not a macro that magically creates it. -never said you could macro for equipment. You putting words in my mouth. -Raising your combat skills does help your dmg. It does this by raising your skill level so that you can use better weapons without them breaking insanely quick, by raising stats like quickness that raise your overall dps, and by granting you access to spells that do more dmg. I might be leaving some other methods out. -The fact that there is not targetting in DF has nothign to do with the alignment system? How about i swing horizontally and accidentally hit 2 players in one swing and no im flagged for 2 minutes. That's the kind of thing that is frustrating. -here's an example of an exploit. I go into a hobgoblin camp and stand on the roof and all the hobglobins pile together at the wall below me, and occasionally run in lil circles while i nuke em down with mana missle. Here's another example. I'm blue, my teammate is blue, and you're blue. Me and him take turns hitting you and backing off every 10 seconds until you're dead. -This is not new stuff at all man. Same stuff from beta pretty much with a few differences. Hope everything is clear for you now.

Darkfall: Overview Part II, Looking at the Down
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/08/09 1:50:13 PM
Macroing is a non-issue except all the guilds who control the majority of the world are ones that got their before anyone else, and MACROED to get their players skilled and harvesting supplies needed. Who controls the game world is a non-issue though.
You also left out the worst part of the alignment system. The fact that a game like Ultima online and Lineage2 have targeting and DF doesn't. Fighting mobs in camps or group PvP became a joke. A very frustrating unfunny joke.
And then there is exploiting. Exploiting in DF probably needs an article on its own. The exploits and the alignment system combined are what killed the game for me.
Why are DF reviews so blatantly biased one way or the other? |

The Chronicles of Spellborn: Howard Marks Talks Launch
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/25/09 2:30:56 PM
I decided to give this game a try. Unfortunately the game didn't want to give me a try. After fighting with it minimally(because I'm tired of putting up with crappy launch products) I tried some of the fixes that didn't fix anything. Then I posted on their boards that I was done trying to play their game(I didn't go on a rant) and they locked my thread. What a charming little game experience. Hope this game crashes and burns.

Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning: WAR Review

I had recently thought about playing WAR again, but when I started thinking about which class to play and visiting the boards, everything I read made the balance issues look worse. The classes I was interested in playing were all the bottom of the barrel. What's the fun in playing a tank class when I know that 4 other tank classes are better. It was very discouraging. Normally I don't whine about balance in MMOs(believe it or not) because in a 1v1 situation I find the better player generally wins. WAR is all about RVR and serving your role though. So am I wrong about this? Has the game gotten better in terms of balancing the classes or worse? |

Age of Conan: Upgrades Dev Journal

Sounds like the'yre just getting up to where the game was suppose to be at launch, and like some of the promised features for the future, still not in the game. |

The game has been in development longer than 5 years. I'm a beta tester and I've been very impressed with the manner in which they handled patches and updates. The devs listened to complaints, as those were the issues soon addressed. And they did the fixes they thought were best, not the ones that were most popular on the boards. The thing I liked most was that they implemented the fixes in small doses instead of heavy handed changes that essentially revamped the entire feature they were trying to fix.
For anyone who has listened to this clown poppets... forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php If you read all the reply posts from Beta Testers, you'll see that not a single one agrees with him. |

Darkfall: Darkfall Launch Delayed
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/16/09 11:39:53 AM
Maybe he spoke too soon about 'no pre-order' and 'release date will be final'. Maybe he turned an ear to marketing people( they are mahirim i believe) at the last minute. Maybe the publisher slammed its big corporate fist on the table and made shit hard for Tasos. Lies do in fact suck though. They didn't advertise their game much, and this company formed to create solely Darkfall(so far anyways) out of a country that has never produced an MMO. It's pretty easy to forgive them already, to be honest. |

The cultists just cant understand that the majority of the public wants to see that what is being told to us is in fact the way it is in game. We do not blindly belive that what is said about the game is in the game, especcially these days since there has been countless broken promises and flawed system mechanics. what are you even talkn about? the game isn't out, and neither is open beta, so we can't absolutely know for sure. And that's how it's been for every single MMO out there. What makes Darkfall any different? "blindly believe" well we have quotes from the dev, we have interviews, we have screenshots, we have videos, and we even have beta leaks. Countless broken promises and flawed system mechanics? Name me some of these broken promises and flawed system mechanics plz.

Calling out the claims of Aventurine / Tasos OR why I DON'T believe

Other than that, i gotta ask...what's the problem? If you don't believe it then don't. The game seems to good to be true, so if it lives up to the hype then what is the problem? If it doesn't, well you're just another nay-sayer, so again, what's the problem? |

Why do people say the PvE sucks in this game?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/15/08 5:36:26 AM
Originally posted by cukimunga -It's nothing new. Same reptitive quests, same predictable boring AI. -The world is very deserted. PQ's are fun when there are people around, but when I played Destruction on a "full" server, there was often no one around, or not enough to finish them. -Linear world. In addition to having zones, the world is obviously designed for you to stay on the path. Yeah you can go explore a cave, if you follow the path that takes you to one. AoC was horrible about this, WAR is not as bad, but generally you're not going to try to climb the hill and see what's on the other side because you know you're just going to slide back down it before you get to the top, and you'll probably spend 20 minutes tracking the wall to find where the mountains part and there's a huge archway with a welcome -sign hanging from it. -Another reason the world is not so fun to explore is the art style. I feel like I'm exploring WoW zones, it's all the same over-the-top fantasy style that you find in so many other MMOs. -grouping and raids? maybe at end level, but I never played to that point. I played to 20 and never had a reason to communicate with another player in PvE = no strategy involved, and only boring solo grinding. |

It's a tough industry no doubt. And Gaute worked hard for a long long time. No sympathy for sell-outs though, sorry Gaute, I'm glad to see you go. |

What game did you play that had an open beta that lasted 4 months? |

PvE is different than PvP, different kinds of fun. However, once you get used to having your PvE with the added notion that you might get jumped at any moment, you can't really go back. to a gankerless world.
