F2P may make more but brings in a lot worse crowd to the game.. a LOT worse of a crowd.  That is what primarily turns me off of f2p and that terrible quality of the product....

Terrible quality + terrible community = terrible fucking game.  Its already been proven a multitude of times.

Without any group structure in GW2, I see raids being at best, a clusterfuck of epic proportions...  Until they implement any structure, raids will be sucha  mess.

Small maps? Like... how small? I thought this was an MMOFPS with a large-ish open world area, akin to Defiance?

Unfortunately its nothing like that.  It has a main hub with merchants and from there you port to  planets which each planet has a couple quest areas but it's not open world how your hoping. I know I was hoping for that but what I found during the betas was very disappointing and closed off.   The gameplay is like halo but it has some items to acquire. Not that much though. Overall it's pretty disappointing.  That's just for me though. Some other may like it but I know I didn't at all.  It was just more of the same nothing all that spectacular.

He has been playing Battlefield 3 for years now and I watch him play.  The game looks great and quality looks good. I understand the cost argument. If it was solely that I might give in and game on console.  I just hate using a controller.  The few times Ive tried playing with him Im just been frustrated using the controller. Maybe old dog new tricks sort of thing is at play here, don't know.  I do know people on this forum often go back and forth between the two.  Hopefully, I'll be able to stay with my keyboard and mouse and there will be enough games for me to play.

The "why spends thousands" argument is so incredibly outdated and false. I just helped a guy build a gaming rig for ~$800 that allows him to play all the current games on ultra settings without breaking a sweat. He'll even be set for the next few years considering how we get to enjoy game development being held back by consoles that utilize 4-5 year old tech.

Consoles are an utter waste of money, there is nothing a console can do that our PCs can't do better.

Mind sharing what components you got for that system?  I am looking at upgrading my system and wondering what I should look at.

I have to disagree with this statement.   Not that it matters but I have been gaming for 15+ years on both PC and consoles and from experience, I can tell you that console games typically run better overall in terms of bugs, stability, and the fact that console game developers don't have to worry about a million different PC specs to get a game to run on even if you have a system that far exceeds the requirements. I prefer PC gaming over consoles but you are never 100% certain on how a PC game is going to run.  Consoles, you can pretty much guarantee that the game is going to run pretty damn well.  Graphics may be lower but oh well.  I will sacrifice graphics for a better gameplay, more reliable experience overall.  Again, I PREFER PC gaming over consoles but experience with both systems show that gaming on consoles are more reliable.

Loading times on PC arent always quicker either.  I have battlefield 4 on both PC and PS4 and the PS4 version loads almost 100% quicker then the PC version, runs smoother, doesnt crash, and just about everything it has is better then the PC version except for maybe graphics.  Thats it.  Some will agree and some will disagree, thats fine, but my own personal experience is that. Thats just 1 game out of alllllllllllllll the different games out there and I typically get the same game on both the PS4 and PC because I have friends who refuse to get a console and vice versa so if I want to play with friends, Im kinda stuck getting both, lol but oh well, its worked out well!

Again, Im not saying PS4 or consoles are better then PC but from my own personal experience, consoles are more "reliable" then PC's in terms of knowing if a game will work or wont work.

Now first of all just so you know Im not trying to be argumentative. But I think youre intentionally representing the facts incorrectly to support your argument.

Yes, almost all console to PC ports are buggy and optimized poorly. A lot of times because there are so many configurations, like you said. But usually within the first month after PC release all bugs and optimizations are fixed. And the gameplay is as good as the console version, often times with a higher graphics option.

You also see that same problem with PC exclusive releases. It takes about a month or so for them to get it running smoothly.

My issue is, I feel youre trying to represent that as always being the case of never getting fixed or becoming "reliable" when it is most definitely not.

In my experience, even PC games that are built for the PC and not a port tend to be more bug ridden, optimization issues, patch issues, etc, etc, etc.  With console games, you can have that confidence buying the product very well knowing the product will more then likely work as designed.  PC yes they can patch it up and in some cases cause even more issues for the PC version and in some cases make it a lot better.  My point being, and please know that I AM more so for PC gaming, prefer it, grew up with it more, played it more, but my point is that console games "typically" come out of the box in a lot better condition then a PC game.  I'm not bagging on PC's or anything, as I said before, I prefer it over consoles but truth be told, console games tend to be a lot more reliable and stable then a PC game.  I never even went into detail about PC games getting patched as thats a given.

Oh, and no worries about not trying to be argumentative.   Its nice actually having a conversation with someone on these forums for a change.  Usually things escalate with someone and someone calls so an so an idiot, tard, etc, etc where you cant even have a decent conversation.

I enjoy Archeage and will play it and invest money into it however I do have 1 concern with the game.  Since it IS a PvP focused game, what is the goal for endgame in it... typically most MMO's have somewhat of an endgame with dungeons, raids, things to work towards with the neverending carrot.  Archeage after playing the Alpha for awhile and experiencing the game, I feel with it being mainly PvP, it has no real end game focus to it.  Yes, theres castles and pvp at 50 but what is it your trying to achieve?  At least in PvE focused games, you have goals and things to achieve.  In Archeage, I feel it doesnt really have an "identity" as to what the focus is at 50 and what to strive for.  I played my 50 on Alpha for awhile and yes, I did farm, trade runs, pvp,etc etc etc  but all for what?  It felt like it had no "goal" to any of it.

This is what I am confused about with Archeage, while it is a very good, very fun game, what identity does it have at max lvl... I just dont know.

Came across this article yesterday.  I checked to see if anyone has posted about this.  Couldn't find anything.  So anyways, here is the link.  Discuss!

http://www.breathecast.com/articles/destiny-pc-release-date-bungie-and-activision-via-steam-on-march-2015-17324/

P.S. I'll be picking it up for sure.

Destiny - launching with 4 maps. Yeah, each planet has a single playable map, very sneaky of Bungie to do that.

Do you have a source? I briefly looked at the "Google Destiny" thing and thought it was just not showing all of the maps.

My expectations of how open and big the game would be have dropped quite a bit since the first info on the game.

I will probably pick it up for PC if it does come to PC, have not played an FPS in a very long time so it will be some fresh experience at least, be it big or small.

I was expecting the game to be more open and I was really disappointed of just how closed off it actually was...  It has its main hub where players meetup and then you port to different areas... Kinda lame to be honest.   Glad I beta tested it because it sure did change my opinion and excitement for the game.

WAR was fun but WAR was also the *most* linear mmo I have ever played to date and I've been playing MMO's nonstop since 1998.  The leveling zones were so narrow, small and linear, it was like walking down a high school hallway.  Just walls super narrow to each each other leading you into another hallway, etc, etc, etc. Even the PvP zones in the middle were the same.    It didnt feel anything like an MMO cause of how linear everything was.

I love people claiming the a game that is ALREADY RELEASED outside of the U.S. is still in it's "early" stages.

*Slow clap.*

To us it is an old client/build. So yes it's still early whatever way you slice it

*returns the slow clap*

on the other hand I did say any game if you actually read so I was speaking in general terms not just AA.  You see ppl all the time making so called "reviews" of games by playing very little of it.  That's all I'm saying...  As for AA, how is the class system generic when you literally have over 100 combinations?  That's unheard of In this very stale time of mmos

I love ppl that make reviews based off playing games in the early lvls/stages of it...  Sorry but no one can make a sound legitimate "review" of a game, any game by playing so little of it(3 hrs is jack shit for an mmo... Sorry to say).  Especially the very beginning of a game...  That's like walking into a movie, watching 2 minutes of it and saying "oh this movie is shit". Not very logical.
It's terrible

LOL, labeling a game "terrible" just because of sound effects? Hahahaha, that has to be the most shallow thing Ive ever heard a gamer say, no offense of course.
I dont plan on playing this game at all.  After seeing the latest 20 man raid video, it just confirms my reasoning for not playing this game.  The raid looked practically identical to WoW  but with Telegraphing BS in it.  Sorry but no thanks.  Been there, done that.  Not sure why people are so excited for this shit.  It looks terrible.

There's no way to tell.  That's up to Zenimax...I hope it never does.  I liked Rift, played it until it went F2P.  Then I dropped it like a bad habit.  I will never play a F2P, nickel and dime MMO.  If it comes to a point where there are no F2P MMOs, then I guess my long relationship with MMOs is over.

To all the entitlement babies, I'm glad it's P2P.  It keeps people like you out of the game.  If you can't afford $0.50 a day, you shouldn't be playing games, you should go get another job.

Im with you on that man.  People who complain about paying a sub seriously need to get their heads out of their asses and get a damn job.  F2P games are TERRIBLE in almost every aspect.  Quality, quantity, you get a bunch of washed up bitter kiddies bitching about everything.

Stay as a Sub and Ill play you as long as Im having fun(which in ESO's case is LOT).  I know 1 big thing alot of ppl who are complaining about the game, they have inadaquate time playing the game to truly get a good impression of it.  This game blossoms the more you play it... It truly is something special.

I sure as shit hope it doesnt.  I want it very much to stay buy the game and sub.  And also, the game isnt having a cash shop and IF, key word IF they do, it would be nothing but appearance stuff as theyve already said.

For starters a price and then a sub will keep out the retards that plague games big time.  Higher quality content, higher quantity content for a price.  Its something that has been the norm for years.  Why all of a sudden has the MMO community become so damn cheap they bitch and complain about a sub?  Jesus christ people get a fucking job.

I too, am into a blood mage type character but after testing out the siphoning abilities for a couple beta events I've come to the conclusion that the life siphon portion of the ability that gives you health for 30% of the dmg done does NOT stack.  So if you nuke 3 different mobs, youll only get the siphon benefits from 1.  If you could indeed benefit from all 3 then that would be awesome but unfortunately it doesnt work that way.  At least currently, whos to say it wont change later?  We were afterall playing an old build.

TESO.  I've been in the beta and playing since mid-2013 and have had a lot of experience playing through the beta, different classes, races, starting areas when given the chance and more.  My main problem with this game, and damn is it a big issue for me since it involves the type of character that I play in almost every MMO/RPG is that the melee combat is HORRIBLE.  Truly one of the most boring, unengaging experiences I've ever had in a MMO.  What's the issue with melee combat?  First and foremost the animations are uninteresting and boring, combat feels like a chore when you're doing the same two animations over and over.  What truly seals the deal however is the impact of melee attacks, as a geared out dragon knight when I charge forward and swing a massive great-sword at somebody's face and it connects I expect to know it.  I want to see them stagger, to make a MOVE, to let me know that they we've been hit.  The only thing you get is seeing their HP bar go down.  There is no impact, no force behind melee combat.  They don't stagger, they don't move, they aren't being thrown around by powerful attacks that would cleave a normal man in half.  It's just bad, and it's boring and uninteresting enough for me to not want to play or pay for this game.

Next SWTOR incoming.

Lol so your expecting realism from an MMO?  Its called fantasy for a reason.  The sound effects lone are more then enough to "feel" like your hitting them.  The melee combat inthis game is actually quite challenging and damn fun because of that.  Try blocking and see what happens from an attack.  The player/mob gets staggered and stunned.  Havent seen that in an MMO... Their combat is damn fun, but hey its all opinion.

I have to ask though.  What was your motive or reason for posting this?  This post has absolutely no deal being here.  Seriously man...  Its hilarious watching people complain about combat animations when WoW, the single most successful MMO in history has some of THEE worst animation in a game Ive ever seen in my many years of playing these, and on top fo that, Wildstars are just as bad and that games getting all sorts of hype for some reason god doesnt even know...

Im starting to see a massive trend with MMO players.  Theyre a bunch of "followers"  No leaders or people who can form their own opinions but they choose to follow someone elses... Pretty sad.

Neither WildStar or ESO ever looked like good games, they are filler games while you wait for something good to come out. They are hoping the core players sub for a couple months so they can make their money but I don't think either game is going to thrive long term.

Not sure about that one.  I cant say much about WIldstar because I loathe how lame and pathetic and childish it looks but ESO on the other hand happens to have more content in it then most, if not all mmos to come out in years at the start.  So, thats promising.

i would not let my hope on it much.

also its no longer time that we stick on 1 MMO for 5-7 years anymore. maybe we should just buy the mmo we like and play for the free month and begone with it.

I think the games you are looking for are called Single player games.  Those you can spend money on and then promptly abandon after a month.

Its actually true though.  Theres no longer MMO's out where you stick with it for years.  Most if not all players nowadays abandoned a game for a short time playing it and move onto something else.  That means games are not all that great quality and quantity wise anymore.  Its a shame.  The last game to truly grasp me for years was DAoC and Everquest

Glad this was posted.  Hopefully the information about Adventure Zones is forthcoming because I'll be honest as a Dungeon Delver and explorer predominant player this video got me excited.  Unfortunately It means I'll have to slog through so many levels of uninspiring and generic questing and horrible starter zones that last 4-5 hours too long.

I don't think all starter zones are equal.

I think one everyone is complaining about is the Daggerfall Covenant one. I could be wrong though.

Personally I think it must have been the Ebonheart Pact one.

Ebonheart was ok. Aldmeri was atrocious and Daggerfall was passable.

Ebonheart was ok

Aldmeri was probably the best

Daggerfall was ok

Again, these are all opinions but I wouldnt say Aldmeri was "atrocious".  What was atrocious about it?  You were on a decently large size island with great scenary, story and gameplay.  Did you venture out at all and explore?  Many people dont realize that this game is about Adventure.  Go wonder around and youll be amazed at what you find.  I can say that on the Ebonheart side(Side I played the most) when I would go out and just run around, I'd find random mobs praying starting a little event that wasnt anywhere else, or some random NPC hidden in some random area that you wouldnt find unless you ran around exploring who gave you an item, or gave you a quest or spawned a named monster, or wave events.  They arent kidding when they say run around and explore.

I think most mmo players nowadays are so set in their ways of just "go go go" mentality there everything is rushed and they dont take the time to see what the game offers.

Take them for what they are, starter islands. The starter island is STORY driven to introduce you to the world and to what the hell is going on.  Its not supposed to be insanely good or where a vast majority of their resources have gone into.  Look at Age of Conan. Great starter island, post starter island was atrocious.   I'd rather have ok starter experience and fantastic post starter island experience that builds up the higher you go and that is how ESO is.
