still no

But zombies, see, they are special.  There is a limited number of them.  That's about any game.  I can believe a world would still have zombies if the world is open, lots of heroes, citizens still getting bit.

and for how many months did you farm icecrown citadel for epics?  or any other instance/raid/zone/named/etc?

The only thing wrong with the combat is the animations, the underlying combat system is sound. another thing they could do is change the crucible so that you pick two weapeons.

I like the slow flow. I don't want it to get wowified with having players go hubs and pick up a shopping list of quests.

To me it feels like another SWTOR (aka SP Kotor 3) But with a silent deadbeat protagonist, empty environments and dead servers where no one wants to team up and chat is dead. Judging from the beta events its a SP game that will go f2P in no time

nothing like swtor..this game makes u feel creeped out whereas swtor makes you feel your playing WOW..and the chat was more than active..apart from first beta..but i think everyone was just so into what they were doing, including me.i was more trying to understand the mechanics in the first beta so i was like most, very quiet.

Creeped out:: chuckle:: 'Diablo makes you feel creeped out. This game makes you creeped out that they are using 5 year old style renderings and graphics.  SWTOR was stylezed for its genre. IT made sense.  There are, what, maybe 2k people in this town, and yet zombies keep appearing from out of nowhere.  This game is more cartoony than wow.

your opinion stinks, mine stinks, that guy over there...his does too.  Opinions expelled from a bunch of internet lurking assholes all smell like ass to someone....I think  it's all the Taco Bell and such.

Seriously this site is bitchier than Real Housewives, no matter what someone posts, someone's instantly up in arms about it.  I thought everyone was over and done with the "we must all think the same thing or be the enemy" mentality once George W stopped his reign :P

The art of compromising Battle.net accounts is well known and practiced by this point.  It shouldn't surprise anyone that it's been carried over into this game.

I can't imagine why anyone who has a battle.net account wouldn't use a authenticator at this point.  If you don't your one mis click on a spam email or using the same email address/password for a web site as battle.net away from loosing your account.

yeah, if you don't get an authenticator on your account Bliz will break into your account over and over until you get one, increasing thier revenue (or web traffic...downloaded apps count for stock profiles afterall)

Perpetual Dawn is a Dragon Cabal for the soon-to-be-released MMO, The Secret World. We are a small group of experienced gamers who share a vision for the cabal. At its bones, our mission is quite simple. Enjoy the game. Be excellent at the game. Create an environment of respect, humor, and friendship in the cabal.

But that, you are thinking, is what
every single cabal says. I mean, imagine a cabal saying the opposite. We want to hate the game, disrespect each other, and generally be miserable. Want to join? Hmmm that's not a bad recruiting pitch actually. It would at least be attention-catching.

So what makes Perpetual Dawn unique?

Who would like Perpetual Dawn?

-  Players who are interested in PvE progression and team-based PvP.
-  Players who define fun as excelling at their characters, tackling the hardest challenges, and being generally awesome.
-  Experienced gamers who want to help build up the cabal based on their experiences in previous games.
-  Players who don't want the anonymity and complexity of large guilds.

-  Players want to be a standard for excellence in The Secret World.
PD will predominantly run EST timezone event times.

Game Focus

Our focus will be on PvE raid progression and team-based PvP. We want to tackle the hardest shit in the game and succeed. We want to roflstomp the best in PvP. But we've also been around the hardcore block and don't want to create that hyper-competitive, negative, and all-consuming atmosphere. We will keep our game goals in perspective and promote friendship, humor, and kindness within the cabal.

Small Cabal size

Ever been in a guild that always spammed recruitment pitches to anyone and everyone? Felt that the measure of success was the number of members? That absolutely will not happen here.

As you read on the TSW forums post, we aim to keep PD small, initially up to 20 players. This will allow us enough buffer to fill the raids (10 people) while accommodating schedules and attrition.

Rules and systems based on common sense and trust

Please see Rules for specifics

This applies to everything from DKP to Crafting to whatever else arises as we venture into this new game. Essentially we mean to say that the administrative side of PD will not be like the tax code or law school.

We are a small cabal, and this works in our favor. We won't need extensive rules that guard against people exploiting the system. There's this funny thing that happens when you treat people like they are smart, sensible, and fair... they tend to act that way. Do the opposite and start nickle-and-diming people and expecting them to cheat, and that's what you'll get.

Minimal Hierarchy

You won't see a dozen ranks creating unnecessary tiers between members. PD will be participatory and inclusive for members.

Voice server

We have a Mumble Voice server, accessible once you become a member. Ability to at least listen will be required for raiding.

I wasn't able to see other player's names unless I clicked on them. Is that still the case or did I have a setting wrong? That was one thing I had issues with.

Yes that was still the case.

Interface options, Nameplates, show player names

no, most of the raging is from ppl who actually......you know, PLAYED D1 and D2.  D3 is a shallow crapfest in the Diablo franchise  (they sould have just released it as a new title, but it wouldn't have sold any more copies than Torchlight if they did right?).  Anyone expecting it to be anywhere near what D1&2 was (if they even played them for more than 2 hrs) is probably still enjoying the Blizzard koolaid in Cataclysm and is loving the Pandera beta too.

A Bliz mod actually stated on one of their forums that they're dumbing down their games because of the younger generation of gamers and their dislike of playing harder games.  Players who enjoy challenging games are the old generation and should stop playing games and let their kids play now. (paraphrasing cuz I don't have the exact link at hand atm)

Flame if you want, I really don't care because this site is a fucking joke nowadays anyway with the bought reviews,  paid for writers and the general "omgz you dunt like MY game you're a carebear emofag go back to your moms basement" mentality anyway.

To each their own and all but really.............

Not sure why this game is even on this site.  It's not an MMO.

It's a co-op game which you can play solo.  It has more in common with something like Borderlands or Magicka than an MMO...

Blizzard spent a ton of cash for "advertising" on this site, buying a space, ads, mod favoritism, some paid posters posting good things about their products.

Same thing that happens here any time a "major new cool have to have it AAA" MMO (or dragon age) comes out and wants to buy hype.  And alot of the time the powers that be stretch mmorpg to anything with an online mode if the advertising cash is enough to buy the swing vote

mods are off playing TSW Beta Weekend, it'll be locked by tomorrow morning probably.

Because funcom fooled me once and if i let them fool me again well that would make me a fool.

sure hope you never buy anything from Sony, NCSoft, Turbine, EA, Bioware, etc ever again either then /shrug

partly being from FC, I honestly think partly for being a thought intensive game scaring off alot of the trolls, and partly FC has dropped some cash on advertising but it's nowhere near the paid ad monstrosity that AoC, Darkfall, Aion, SWToR, etc where.

Without the advertising budget devoted to TSW, sites like this one aren't as likely to have the staff be told to focus as much attention on the game pre-release, adding to the mass hype.

Personally I'm kinda glad this game is kind of coasting under the radar compared to most of the recent big launches.  Communities are crap in MMO's nowadays and I'd like to see this one get off the ground before the griefer/troll/bitchfit trains pull into the station.

Day 1 of early access to SWToR, 1 hr into the game and it was already flooded with ppl bitching and moaning about how it's "sooooo WoW"  "pathetic graphics", etc.  I'd like a week or so without that shit this time around.

ok MikeB, that's your final warning.  3 day suspension from your own website for starting a flame war.  Epic trolling for the win. :P

And seriously, after starting this, I think you owe me an appology for several banning incidents from Jul to Nov of '09 lol

my personal thoughts on SWToR, and I stress personal, take it or leave it, I really don't care, is....

BW were looking at the mmo market and drooling over the possible revenue.  They decided to go for a sure thing for box sales and preorders and signed on with Lucas to make a SW mmo.  Sound logic.   Work on coding, figure out the how and when's of mmorpg's.  Guaranteed huge sales for their first mmo title by partnering with Lucas.  Their thoughts on the back burner were "and when we're done we'll have a name in the mmo scene and huge profits from presales, even after paying for the dev time, voice actores, etc and giving Lucas their cut....Then we can put out the Mass Effect MMO we're wanting to make and it will be sweet sweet profit".

I fully expect BW to pull pretty much all support to SWToR one year after release and then go full throttle on the ME MMO they've spoken about a few times.

Stale worlds, stale gameplay, the whole thing is on rails (I'd probably still play if there were even one optional area to hunt per level bracket to advance rather than starter world>DK>Balmorra>tatooine>NS>Taris>ETC-ETC-ETC over and over per character rails shooting...or pvp from 15 to 50).  Combining that, declining player base (my guild of 150 dropped to 48 char's [pretty much 6 of us and alts] before I pulled the plug on my account), and a general Been There Done That after my first character, and my thoughts on how the support for the game will go decided for me.

And the TOR fans are pretty much opposite in every way possible from EVE fans. Other than they are humans & are breathing.

or dead accounts reactivated to show "sub numbers" to ppl without a clue

Originally posted by Cypt1 It's kind of hard to estimate how many people are genuinely subscribed with the 30 free days (I have two accounts currently activated due to the 30 day giveaway for having a 50 on each one), and until the smoke clears from that deal, we won't have a very lucid picture of what's actually happening.

I forsee the reactivations happening every time they have to show investors sub numbers.

Emperors new clothes situation for sure.

why pay for it since BW keeps throwing 30 days free over and over at former players (I've had 3 offers for 30 days free, the first was a week after I cancelled my sub)?  I went back for about 20 min during one of the free time offers and it was dead on Adraas so I logged off grumpy that I took the time to reinstall/patch.

I wouldn't go back for F2P.

I cancelled 2 subs in feb with 6 char's finished their storylines (3 on my account, 3 on my wife's).  I'm still paying for one sub because I bought a copy for my brother in law for xmas with the offer of paying a year as part of the gift.........he plays about once a weekend still.

So, how's it going with all the Chiss Jedi and Pureblood Smugglers?

[mod edit]  it's downright depressing that even their world event is a copypaste of a WoW world event from 2008. And that's an AAA title? /sigh

and a much hated event my much of wow's player base.  good job BW/EA

Ok, I've been looking forward to The Secret World for years now, since it was official announced as in progress.  I've played MMO's since 1999 and am pretty fed up with elves, pixies, dwarves, etc.   My game playing money was going to either this or World of Darkness Online and TSW was nice enough to come along with pre-orders at about the same time I felt the urge to play MMOs again after my SWTOR induced short term retirement.

I'm undecided on which faction I want to join, I see a major appeal to all 3, so my choice in faction will all depend on the cabal I end up joining.  I am not looking for a cross faction cabal with  a face in each faction, not my style personally.

I am normally a DPS player (melee over ranged) but have been known to bust out a healer and get the job done and done well in that regard aswell.  I don't like main tanking (off tank as a high survivability dps works great for me, used to offtank as my Berserker in raids in EQ back in Citadel of Anguish).   My playtimes will be semi-sporatic.  I am a father of 3 and work shift work thru the week with rotating weekend schedules.

I'm looking for a Cabal with a laid back, casual attitude.  I'm not looking for guild chat that's all sunshine and roses, but I'm not looking for a guild full of nothing but swearing and such (I do have kids who will walk by and watch me play now and then).  Not to say I'll guildremove over the occasional outburst of profanity but it chat is all wannabe cool 16 yr olds putting in filler swears for no reason I'm gone.  I'm not one for guild chat full of "I'm so high, omfg I drank soooooooo much booze last night doesn't that make me so awesome,  learn to play you #$% @#$@% @#$% @#%@" types, I'd like to think I've out grown that crap.   I've been a raid leader, officer and occasionally guild leader in several progression guilds in EQ, WoW, L2, EQ2, Vanguard and several other games and I'm not affraid to step up when needed but nowadays I prefer a more laid back, log in to play and have fun approach to gaming.  I don't consider gaming a 2nd job anymore that's for sure, I won't do 6 day a week 8 hr a night raiding again (it was fun but I really don't have the time anymore).

funcom's not forking out the bucks to this site this time around to make them care.  if it was dumping mad advertising (paid reviews) cash on mmorpg.com it'd be added months ago without community members having to ask.

Same old same old (and as usual probably a 3 day vacation from the site for saying it...yes, some of us remember the rampant bannings/suspensions of anyone who put down Darkfall, MO, and sever other heavy advertising, featured games on this site)

Here's what I picture having happened.

"Lets build a SW based mmo, test our feet in a guaranteed box sales success, and put the revenue from it into something we'll really care about.  Mass Effect MMORPG .  Meeting ajourned, go go go"

I tried to like the game, but I found it had 0 redeeming qualities.  no replay value once you hit 50 on 2 char's (my wife squeeked out a 3rd 50 but she admits it was "like pulling teeth getting logged in for the grind yet again thru the exact same scripted rails with no chance to do anything else unless you want to grind like it's L2"

I think the main mistake they made with SWToR was lack of any and all choices, alternate branches of class questing, optional areas to do instead of the main yellow brick road they made us follow.

my 2 cents, take it or leave it, I'm not going to reply to flametards on this one so w'ever
