If you ask me, M$ should've just changed XP to look like Vista and have DX10 support. They could've called it Windows XP Vista and made a ton of money lol. |

World of Warcraft: Teen Arrested for WoW Suicide Threat
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/07/09 5:30:30 PM
I know 2 people that commited suicide that were heavy WoW players. They didn't wanna work. They became anti-social. They didn't want to do anything except sleep, eat and play WoW. It's really quite sad and what is more sad is how many people don't even care... |

Try using an older PC in Jita with tons of ships around. Your PC will come to a crawl and it will be difficult to do anything. |

I feel sorry for you. This happens to all MMO's. The vets get screwed. All that time you put into the game for nothing. Devs keep claiming it's for balancing the game but what they don't realise is how much time and money people pay per month to master the MMO. This is why I strive to find a free MMO because paying is such a waste in the long run :( I can see it now...people flaming me for being cheap. Well, I would still be playing Ultima Online (in 2D) til this day if it wasn't changed. Same thing with Planetside, Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heroes/Villains and now, Eve Online... Here's a big ,,!,, to all the developers and CEO's of P2P MMO companies... This is just my opinion and I'm stickin to my guns! |

EVE Online: EVE Breaks Peak Concurrent User Record

I just wanted to say that there is a 21 day trial to play Eve using Steam. You can play it as many times as you like. You just have to create a new steam account each time. 21 days is PLENTY of time to enjoy Eve. What I do is create a special forces character with balanced attributes except for charisma. Keep that low. Do the Cashflow for Capsuleers missions to get two free ships and lots of other free goodies. Then work on getting Salvaging skill to start making serious money. After that, get a Cruiser and tractor beams. You can be in a Cruiser with salvaging within 2-3 days. Then look for a good player owned corporation to join and the fun begins. A good player corp will have you helping them do level 4 missions which is quite nice and mind blowing graphics wise. I can't even begin to describe it. And I can't stress how addicting it is to play this game for free over and over again 21 days at a time. You can call me lame or cheap or whatever. I don't care. Because I get to play one of the best space MMO sims ever created by mankind and be totally contempt with what it has to offer in the free 21 days I can play. It's an incredible game but I really don't see myself paying $15 a month for a game that I can't ghost train in considering everyone else was able to do it and will always be years ahead of me. Now if only CCP lowered the monthly price down to maybe $10 a month...hrmm......... But anyways, CCP keeps saying that one day we'll be able to walk around inside stations. That would be nice :) I'm gonna wait on Jumpgate Evolution and the NCSoft Star Trek game then decide which space MMO I wanna pay per month for... |

City of Heroes: Respec Guide, Part One

I use the respec at level 27 just so I can sell all the SO's I bought at level 22. You get back like around 1.5mil. Most people think IO's are worth using early in the game but a level 25 SO has better percentage rates than a level 25 IO. IO's don't start to be better than SO's until SO's go yellow at level 26. |

I can't believe noone mentioned city of heroes/villains.... I admit that UO and Eve online were very hardcore PVP that I ever experienced but if you never experienced CoH/V PVP, you're seriously missing out. The PvE is excellent too... |

All of this is gonna cost about $600. maybe less after rebates. I noticed people talking about static electricity harming your stuff. first thing you need to do is put the PSU in the case, plug the PSU in and don't turn it on. make sure the receptacle is grounded for pete's sake. you can buy a cheap thing from any hardware store that will show you it's grounded. just ask the electrician guy at lowes or home depot or wherever you go. it's a thing you plug in and it has lights and tells you whether or not the receptacle is wired correctly. before you put in anything into the case, touch the PSU and don't move from your spot. you will ground yourself and discharge any static electricity because the outside casing of the PSU is grounded. as long as you dont move across a carpet going to get stuff, you should be ok. I have built many pc's and never had a problem with static electricity and never used a static wrist band. I'm not trying to say not to use one, just saying that it is possible and perfectly safe to build a pc without one if you understand how electricity works. the most important part of a PC is the motherboard. you should try downloading the manual and read it first before ordering. read reviews. etc etc. if i were you, i would get a better motherboard. there are a lot better ones out there like ASUS or EVGA or Gigabyte and others. you pretty much get what you pay for. it's always nice to have a motherboard you can overclock with because that CPU I showed you can be overclocked a good bit. but if you wanna stay cheap, then get the motherboard i showed you. I may have forgotten some things because I threw this build together really quick. good luck and I hope I pointed you in the right direction in making a nice pc for cheap.

World of Warcraft: New Recruit-A-Friend Program
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/12/08 6:50:32 AM
I tried out the WoW demo twice in the past few years and both times I was reminded how silly that game was. I'm a fan of RPG's and MMO's but I will never understand why a game like WoW made as much money as it has. The graphics are blocky, cartoony looking and everyone looks the same. Except for the gear they wear. And the fact that you can walk right through your enemies has got to be the silliest thing of all. There's tons more excitement in MMO's when you can actually get surrounded and stuck and die from not paying attention to where you are. I'm glad I never spent a single dime on that game. And if Diablo 3 looks anything like WoW, I won't be buying it. |

Originally posted by Lell I wish everyone thought the way you did. The world would actually be a better place. "Teach your children to have manners and they will grow up to be leaders". It's too bad society (the bad society, not the good society) teaches kids all the wrong values. And it's even more amazing how quickly children learn all the wrong values off the internet. If anything, the internet proves that mental disease can spread even through an electronic means... Am I the only person that realizes this?! And when I say "children", that includes teenagers and adults (18+) who still act childish. This is starting to become a major problem and I really don't see any kind of cure for it besides parents not allowing their children to get online or to at least regulate it! Would you want your kids hanging out with a bunch of people who you know are a bad influence on them? When people say "you gotta have common sense", or when a father says "don't be stupid", are those values no longer respected because I'm really starting to see tons of people online who lack common sense.

You should be glad dumb people are spelling bad online. It's better than them going out and commiting hideous crimes. Yes, it's true. Dumb people are the only people that commit crimes. So give them something better to do (like play an MMO) and hope to God they always have something better to do besides making other lives miserable. |
