You guys are missing an important factor here. Before WoW came out, the genre was small, WoW opened up the market, paving the way for AoC to make good inital sales. It has nothing to do with AoC being better at launch or anything, it a combination of bullshit hype and Blizzard creating the population to source from. End of story. |

They tried to make the combat 'real time' to set it apart from the others but what they actually did was just mask the usual turn based timed attack combat seen in other mmo's. Instead of pressing a button and waiting for a 2-3 second cast time like in WoW, you press said button, fill in that timer with a bunch of directional combo's then the move is done. So not only is boring after awhile, it will give you RSI to boot.
They dropped the ball on the one thing that was supposed to make it stand out. |

So overall more then enough room, unless YOU feel that every person who feels the game sucks is insecure cause thats how you try to bring it. These forums are HUMOR
Your sig is a logical fallacy anyway. |

I know exactly what you said in your previous post. You insinuated that AoC was harder than wow and anyone who thought otherwise was clueless. Then you made some claim about previous posters logic being flawed when in fact you made an example of yourself as being a person with flawed logic.
Its ok, we understand that you struggle to grasp simple concepts. I will not hold anything against you.....
Back to the topic, I personally think that funcom are going to make this game even easier aswell as strip as much mature content from the game as possible to give it larger market appeal - it is destined for the xbox360 after all. I don't think this is a direct result from forum whining about making things easier, i think its just the direction the game developer thinks is right to achieve their goal. Seriously, their vision for the game is not good and its best to jump ship now. |

In my view, improving the travel system will not really make it any easier. You see, if the game was an open world where you could travel anywhere (ie: most RPG's) then yes, it would make it easier, but as it stands the game is very linear and almost runs in an invisible corridor from zone to zone - travel is just annoying in an arcade game. |

They should leave the IP for books and movies. Making an mmo out of an old IP where the lore is pretty much fixed is very limiting for this genre. There is no room for growth or other novel features and events that make other mmo's addictive and replayable. I did have high hopes that they could pull it off but unfortunately they didn't. A single player RPG would have been a better choice for this IP. |

AoC Milestone in good and bad! Dont play that ....

I agree with this thread.
This game can never be 'fixed', the problems are not just technical glitches, they are fundamental design flaws that would require a near full rewrite of the game's basic mechanics. |

The hardest thing about this game is listening to all the fan boys stick up for it. Yes Protus-AoC, that means you. It seriously causes brain tumors trying to comprehend how people can accept the state of the game.
All bugs and easy mode aside.....the game has next to no re-playable content.
Gaute need's to stop making mmo's. |

And seeing people feel WOW is more complex really makes me wonder if people actualy can think for themselfs or are so ignorant they just copy paste what they hear and even copy/paste the same boring playstyle many of hte complainers seem to have cause lets face it when we read the complaints they mostly came from very boring type of people who TRY to play a game in this genre. OP you are right I am also getting tired of these complainers all they want is games to hold their hand or try to turn the game into a handhold game. And I do also agree that in the end if FC continue's to listen to these unexperiance'd people who are so damn loud on forums that the game indeed will fail, not in the sence of being unplugged but being a failure towards what the game was MEANT to be.
It doesn't matter if you own an Xbox or not, this game is arcadey and geared for the xbox crowd. If you cannot see that AoC is easier than WoW, there really is something wrong with you, sorry, its fact. Gamplay styles mean nothing, AoC is still limited compared to the rest.
You are probably confused...you see, on the outset Wow is easy, they make it that way...its called a learning curve. They also cater for many different play styles, so its easy for the casuals, but it you want a challange you join an end game raiding guild. If you say that raiding is easy, you have just joined a guild that has dungeons on farm status and where not there for the months and months on end struggle they had trying to get past a few bosses.
This is all moot really, its undeniable that AoC is the easiest fluffed up mmo ever to crap inside my PC

This game just has an over bearing feel of shallowness about it. Its something that content patches, reworked boss encounters and class balancing will not fix. I'm amazed people still play it to be honest....I guess it takes time for some to see through the hype, graphics and novel combat system.
They will make it easier...it will become the new example of easy, made for casuals mmo.
Edit: People only say WoW is for kids because they got peaved off that people started leaving their beloved mmos for wow, leaving them with ghost towns, so they naturally had a grudge towards blizzard...much like that grudge towards microsoft. They also looked at the simplistic graphics and made judgement. Honestly, the number of ex EQ players that came across and said how much better WoW was once they got past the grapphics was massive. |

Sorry, but AoC has been easier than WoW since Beta. The combat and 'smudged' talent trees do not allow for a complex game. In a 6man dungeon, all you do is run in zerging, belting away on bosses (yes, even the healers) until its dead then move on the the next. There is no dynamic raid fights...its worse than tank and spank. As much as people hate being stuck in a set role during raids, this is the only method to add strat to an encounter. They would need to completely gut the current combat, class structure from the game and start again to fix this, it cannot be worked around.
Hell, AoC even points you in the direction of your quests with a big yellow arrow on the minimap.....WoW doesn't even do that. |

The problem with AoC that many people over look is actually the IP itself.
Original IP's generally make better mmo's due to the ability to create specific lore to fit the situation and expand the world in ways an IP like Conan cannot. The world is small in scope and has to stick to strict guidelines. Apart from just adding in more zones or items, the game really cannot expand like Everquest or WoW can. We already see this effect with the armor in Conan - everything looks the same from the start of the game to the end. Very boring indeed after time.
The Conan IP is great, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't translate well into this genre where expansion, new ideas, lore growth are paramount. This IP would be gold as a single player RPG - tortage proves this on a small scale. |
