I just can't justify paying $500-$600 for a freaking game console no matter how many bells and whistles they try to stuff inside. That's just crazy. I can almost build a Gaming PC for that... you know a REAL gaming platform. Not something that is totally non-upgradable and will already be made of obsolete PC hardware by the time it releases.

Bren

PS4 is only $399 and when you look at it PS3 came out in november 2006, so that is almost 7 years and still going strong. Try to build a gaming PC for 399 that will last you for 7+ years :P.

I am only getting a PS4 this time around, I spent way too much on my PC this year lol.

Loll... i am agreeing with Sephiroso.

BTW, D3 gold spammer don't spam the chat that much. They spam friend requests. And we are talking about a game with a RMAH that every player can already buy & sell gold. The spammers still show up.

I have already reported countless of them.

Ya.  B2P has all the same problems and issues that f2p has and you are paying for that priveledge.

Throwing my hat in the ring with the above. F2P is an item mall. B2P is an item mall with a box fee up front. Good for the devs, bad for the players.

And so tell me how is P2P is not just an item mall for game content but in this instance you are forced to pay constantly in order to play every month?? you are technically paying to a subscription to get in a way game content / game time.

Because you are paying for access to the service, not for specific content. You really don't see the difference between a) paying for access to a service and b) having free access but paying for additional components?

Are you really trying to play the angle of "I pay money and I get something, therefore they are the same"?

Clearly you haven't looked at the cash shops in B2P games and again it seems people are not distinguishing the difference between B2P and F2P models. The cash shops provide items that make things convenient e.g. extra bag slots exp boosts and cosmetics that make you standout are those not services in your book? Services that you can live without and still enjoy the game without a monthly sub.

Defiance, and The Secret World has Weapons for sale in their cash shops and those 2 games are B2P. Tera and Aion doesn't have any Weapons and Armor on their cash shops and they are F2P games.

I think you should check other B2P game cash shops and F2P yourself.

Defiance does NOT have weapons in their cash shops and the Secret World sells veteran weapons that require a level of 9 to use. Good thing I own both of these games to do some actual fact checking before you start spreading misinformation for your "p2p crusade"

On a personal note , I don't care one way or another on the f2p/p2p debate , as long as the games don't suck. I just hate disinformation being spread to pad one's argument.

Last time I checked you are given the ability to buy boxes with real money which gives you random weapons. Veteran weapons is still weapons it doesn't matter that you have to be level 9 to use them :P. Even in F2P game which gives you the ability to buy weapons you have to be a certain level to use them anyways.

Thanks, but Intel released the I7 4770k like month after I bought my processor, lol.

I agree.  The whole system is prohibiting friends from playing together.  Really really bad planning on their part.  Makes me wonder why I even am bothering to create a character for Early Access as it seems the best thing to do is to just wait it out until they get this mess sorted out.

Already has put a bad taste in my mouth.  Maybe I will just go and play GW2.

Didn't GW2 locked servers when they launched as well? I remember my friends joining different servers because this in that game as well.

To me both B2P and F2P are the same thing. Both has similar cash shops with similar items and both will depends on the cash shops for the game to survive, whereas P2P games doesn't need cash shops to survive as long as enough people are subbed.

B2B is basically F2P, but you  initially spend some money to get some unlocks that F2P games don't get at the start like more inventory space, more character slots, etc.

It's probably going to be similar to Camelot Unchained.
I don't about them coming alive, but they do have animations http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjqtuKa84ic
The early access codes that we all entered have the same purpose. They are only there to give you early access and the pre-order bonuses. In order for your account to become CEs you have to wait for the distributor you used to issue you guys a retail key by email if digital or physical box  if not. This might happen closer to the release date.

This won't work, for the One Time Password to work you need to either have a physical token or either a Final Fantasy 14 or Final Fantasy 11 retail code registered in your account management page.

So basically, register the RETAIL pre-order code to get a GAME pre-order code. Then register the game pre-order code. If that doesn't work, then setup the ONE TIME password.

He cannot setup an one time password with out a retail final fantasy 11 or a final fantasy 14 service account or a physical token key.  Either way you don't need an one time password to get things working. The one time password is only required if you have it enabled in your account, but since you don't know about it, you don't have to worry about it. Just follow the instructions I gave you on top.

I need a "one time" password?

I never heard that we need the mobile device to log in...anyone know if this is correct?

No, he is wrong. All you need to login is your login account name and password and leave the One Time password field blank.

Have you entered in your pre-order code (18 digits) and gotten an early access code (20 digits)? If you have gotten this, have you gone here http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/us or the eu version of this site and registered your pre-order code? If everything goes right you should have gotten this screen when you launched the client.

Once you pay for the first month after your free 30 days you will be given a vial that will let you to recreate your character.

Here's my question, i just bought and registered the game to my account and registered my pre-order code. All went fine and well.

However, when it was listing the in-game bonuses that i was to recieve, it was listing off the Moogle Cap and Cait Sith Doll even though i purchased the 50 dollar CE digital download which should have given me the coeurl mount, behemoth pet and etc.

Is that just an error visually and i will still receive the CE benefits or am i not going to actually get those because i bought CE digital version and those bonuses were only for physical CE copies?

The code you entered was only for early access and the pre-order bonuses, to actually get all the collector's edition benefits you need to enter and actual retail key. Since you pre-ordered your digital game from a supported digital distributor you should receive a retail key by the distributor close to or on 27th of August 2013.

Actually yes, that is a major deal breaker, I couldn't afford it even if I wanted to at this time. I would have happily purchased the game as a B2P game, but paying a monthly fee of $15 is crazy.  I really don't even understand how they can expect their console players to pay a monthly fee for console and a game on top of that. They are going to be losing a lot of customers with this model I think.

To those who can afford it, awesome! Hope you all enjoy the game. I will not waste my money, because i know they will end up switching models eventually anyway.

Not to be insulting, but it is only $.50 cents a day. I guess I can understand if you're unemployed and need every dime to feed yourself and kids.. but really a sub fee should be affordable by most standards for a hobby.

I like the silly people who say it's "ONLY" $0.50 a day. I work in the game industry, so no ... not unemployed. I am just not stupid enough to pay over $200 per year for 1 game. derp. Try to say ... "It's only $200+ a year" Again for 1 game.

$200 a year isn't exactly a lot if you compare it to something that is WORTH that price. What you don't understand is the WORTH is what makes something expensive or cheap.

Example: Do you think it's cheap or expensive to spend $15 on fries? Do you think it's cheap or expensive to spend $15 on a 3 course meal? Do you think it's expensive to spend $15 on a surround sound system?

As you can see, the item makes all the difference when it comes to prices.

Sure you are correct, $0.50 isn't a lot per day, but to me it isn't worth it for a single game.

Actually people who have jobs understand this more often then the people with out jobs who get their money from their parents. We know how much that $0.50 is worth when you add it up. When you work hard everyday, you really make sure you are spending your money on things you feel are worth it.

Though, I am not speaking for everyone. I suppose there are people around who don't care if they waste money.

Edit: Keep in mind when someone says they can't afford it, doesn't mean they literally do not have the capability to pay for it. When we talk about affording something, it is the worth/price ratio I go by. Since I don't think it's worth that price, it is going to require me to have more money to look passed it.

Example: If you have $10, you can buy a candy bar. However, you ONLY have $10, is it worth it to buy a candy bar or should you save that money for something that is actually worth it? When you come to that conclusion, you automaticlaly say you can't afford the candy bar. You need the $10 for other things.

Now if you have $100 ... chances are .. you would begin to consider buying the candy bar because you have more money to spare.

It's pretty sad I felt the need to explain that >.>. This is something kids can usually figure out by themselves.

The whole reason why the American economy went down was because people didn't want to spend money :P.

I work hard to earn money so I can buy luxuries like games. What the whole reason of having a job if you cannot spend the money you make on things that makes you happy? Also, buying single player games that last you for maybe 10 to 20 hours tops would end up costing you a lot more than paying a steady $15 fee to get the same amount of hours of play per year. And another thing why would I want to play a F2P or B2P MMO and spend money just so freeloaders could play and end up calling me a whale? I already pay taxes and why should I pay more so others could play for free?

All you have to do is budget your money and you are good to go.

You need to enter a retail key to do that, so far all you have entered is a pre-order key.  Wait until you get your actual boxed copy or  for the digital distributor email you the real game key.

So ESO just weeded out a bunch of freeloaders.

I guess the developers realized the faults of the F2P and B2P models and decided that the future is the P2P model. It's a great day for us gamers :).

I am really happy about this, finally don't have to worry about stupid cash shops :).

They didn't realize the long line of faults with P2P though did they.  They're mirroring the steps of every game before them.  It's like watching "Dev Studio Lemmings" on Wild Kingdom.  Every dev studio lemming thinks they won't hit the bottom when they jump over the cliff like the studio before them, but they do.  Every time.  It's boggling.

You do realize that they will make more money that way than doing a B2P or F2P game right? Look at what happened to defiance at least if a P2P game doesn't make it as a P2P game it could always go with the F2P or B2P route and advertise it as being a triple A title going F2P/B2P and pull in a lot of people that way. Where are a F2P/B2P game which is not doing so well has nowhere else to go.
