Economy...?
LFGame « General Discussion

Face of mankind economy IMO is pretty bad, the system simply doesn't work and its a mess. I've seen quite a few threads of people ranting about it, hope they fix it before open beta.

Lotro's major selling point is its involving story and deep quests, if you dont want to do those i would suggest playing another game isntead, actually why don't you just play a sandbox?

Darkfall isn't really a sandbox, it's like a siegebox, because everything you do revolves around the eventuality of sieging.

Mortal Online is still in beta/not anywhere near done.

And LOTRO is too similar to WoW.

There's EVE, fallen earth, ryzom, UO , wurm and some other sandbox games too, darkfall isnt the only sandbox game thankfully.

Oddly enough this launch has been one of the smoothest I've seen... Everything is just working.  The last patch they pushed out right before launching made a crazy difference in stability it seems.  The starting areas area pleasantly full without being TOO crowded and everyone seems quite happy with a definite lack of immature people.

Sure, they changed the pre-order period up and dropped prices but we are being compensated for it.  To me it makes sense for them to drop the cost for the first few months while getting things solidified.  Seems like they are the first company willing to recognize people are paying to play an unfinished game and change pricing to reflect that.

So lets see, 1.5 hours late beta ending, 3 hours late launch, no headstart, price slash out of nowhere, some pre order bonuses not even given, then game down for hours on the first day. Smooth...

Also im pretty sure they knew the price slash was coming, but instead of having to refund they kept it until launch and then compensate with more months which is pretty much like giving not much of a choice but to play the game because the devs are in desperation of players.

It can't be an avatar MMO as blizzard has said its a totally new IP...

Im kinda amazed at their decisions coming out of thin air and alot of people who bought the game seemed to be pissed about it aswell...first pre orders guys get huge bonuses, then have to wait another month for release, then headstart gets cancelled, now they do a price cut and pre order people yet again get screwed from the price difference. If i had bought the game i woudlve definitely wanted a refund. As for the trailer...lol i had a good laugh at it, they went out of there way to hype it with those statements that even they know are bullshit. "The game everyone has been waiting for" yeh that's why you cut down your client prices in half and decreased sub price on release date? I honestly was done putting negative comments on the state of the game and was ready to leave until i saw all this, reminded me why i started the criticism first of all.

To tell you the truth i dont know if getviolated is ether trolling or he's serious, all his posts are about something stupid yet he keeps on going on them.

You know one of the major things kids do besides playing outside is gaming right? i live in canada and the weather here isnt necessarily always good for playing outside and gaming here is quite popular.

Allods combat isn't bugged, its just slow at lower lvls and people think it is.

Fairly decent review, thanks for sharing!

And i thought group play could only grow from the level it's at now...

So I would let the big one try WoW (its a great game for kids if you monitor them)

i.e. don't let them get involved in Barrens Chat and if it has a chat filter (can't remember), turn it on.

I've noticed WoW is also a lot less frustrating than its clones and is becoming more casual slowly.

and Free realms for the smaller one.

Or Wizard 101.

Oh and metalhead, don't you play EvE?

That's quite the diversity going on there. Heh.

Dude I have seven PCs in my home four kids, my wife and my brother than rents out the basement of my home and of course myself.

At any give time after about 6pm YOu have WoW, FR, W101 and Eve going on at the same time LOL!

It's like an arcade at my house.

So i heard one of your basement is up for grabs? the money is already in your bank

I would never promote buying a game if you can't afford it.

From what i've read of the OP, I recommend you wait and see how things go.

Yeh ive decided to wait atleast 6 months after release to buy the game, in my opinion would be a much better experience for me, but um yeah i was just confirming the price for my friend.

Thanks. That narrows it down quite a bit for me. I will look into Darkfall and Mortal Online to see which one I like. I'm not interested in Eve with spaceships.

I wouldnt recommend Mortal Online in the slightest at the moment.  It will leave you with a huge sense of disappointment, and a false sense, because it is far from fully developed to attempt an accomplished launch.  In 3-6 months perhaps.

However, Darkfall is a mature, open fantasy mmorpg, with a purely player-driven ecosystem.  As mentioned before, just about everything is player gathered and made.  The diversity of skills, crafting, exploration, and development is pretty rich and complete enough to make it a worth-while look.

Keep in mind that Darkfall is also the most unforgiving mmorpg where your not handed wads of in-game items and cash for completing quests, where safe areas of non-conflict are few; again, players influence the game-play rather than a pre-determined code of tethered, predictable and escapable mobs.

Edit add: Darkfall is not a game of conventional theme-park character levels, but skill.  Everything in this game from combat, magic, jumping, swiming, running, resting, etc. is all skill-based.  The more often you perform such action, the greater your skill in it becomes.

Keep in mind it all looks good on paper but in game the experience is totally different, you would be ganked like no tomorrow and its mainly a pve game. Also no offense but darkfalls community is known to be the worse out there, please stop calling it mature.

Nevermind hayanmen, hes a fanboy that likes to suggest his game no matter what.

Just wondering...is the game based on the movie or vice versa?

Really can't think of any, closest thing would be anarchy online.

Ah seems like i missed the part where he says he knows there not out, my bad.

As for other games, in my opinion any game on the development list has the same potential as the others and really it's anyones game until the games are actually released.
